Is anyone else struggling to poop? I finally thought I was getting back to normal(ish) after I stopped taking pain meds but no. I'm two weeks PP and can't poop for the life of me. I'm taking Colace but I'm not sure what else to do. Any ideas?

I had that same problem. I really focused on my water intake because I wasn't getting enough (I aim for at least 12 oz between each feeding) and taking daily probiotics. I also examined my diet, which was very crappy quick food PP so I try to make sure I get healthier meals in there when I can. That helped immensely. And I stopped the painkillers.

But I totally feel your pain! I had no problems during pregnancy but the PP constipation was a nightmare!

  • LO does NOT want to be away from me today. She screams if she's away from me for even a minute. All I have to say is thank God for my baby wrap - it's allowing me to work on my paper even though I apparently have to be attached to baby at all times. DH doesn't seem to be too offended by it. We're pretty sure it's at least partially because we're back to mostly/exclusively breastfeeding, so Mommy = comfort and food. Loving the cuddles, but I'm ready for her to be okay with hanging out with her dad again!

@cheriep3 & @kes166 have you tried Miralax? I was told you can take that and ducolax as they work in different ways.
@ktwilki5 I'm struggling with the same thing. Finally fell asleep but then my alarm woke me up shortly after that to feed the baby. I was so exhausted I kept hitting the snooze button for an hour & 20 min til LO woke up on her own wanting to eat. I feel so bad cause I let her go too long between feedings (this has happened a couple other times). Just so exhausted.

Anyone else trying to manage a chronic illness with the demands of caring for their newborn? My joint pain is really flaring up & I just hurt all over. I'm still taking ibuprofen around the clock almost 1 month pp but still hurting more than my usual. It's so hard to know how best to care for my LO while keeping my health in mind. I don't want my disease to flare up so bad I can't take care of her the way I need to. Think I should probably make my DH take a night feeding one of these nights so I could sleep a little more. I'm EBF but DH tried a bottle with LO the other day with some breast milk & she did fine with it.

YES! Chronic pain is the worst and a lack of sleep makes it 100 times worse. I'm also doing ibuprofen but i've got to figure out how to get to a better normal. I feel your pain. Feel better!
Me too! I have lupus and I feel MUCH better now that LO is here but, I'm struggling with not being able to get back on meds for nerve and joint pain. I try to keep moving and remember that every pain and ache is for LO and its only temporary. Nights are the worst. I also need a better BFing chair. I can't sit in the bed anymore.

I am desperate for a baby carrier so I can get some arm and hand freedom lol we got one from the shower but it's a min of 8 lbs and our little girl is only 5.5 right now even at 3 weeks old. And I really don't want to spend a lot on one so I'll just have to suffer ;)

I hope LO gains some weight fast so you can use it! This is my first day using mine and it's seriously a life safer!

I had the same problem, now 7 lbs at 4 weeks, and ended up breaking down and buying a boba. I hope it's as wonderful as I've heard..
  • Still under 7 over here at a month old. I have a K'tan as well. Really want to carry and it's hard to be patient.
  • I started using the ktan at 7.5 lbs...it saved my life. She was 8lb about a week later and I feel no difference. But I needed something at the time.
TTC: 1/2014 BFP: 9/24 EDD: 6/8/2015 Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.
  • Same boat here - LO is around 7lb at 6 weeks. Perfect weight gain at an ounce a day, but we still can't use our carrier. DH and I are both anticipating the day she hits 8lb!

Ugh MIL is here and I am upstairs with a fever.... She actually rolled her eyes when DH told her I wasn't feeling well.... Now I really want to avoid her!

Will I get banned if I call her a B?
Maybe we should all say it and see if admin bans everyone.....

Can I ask what you usually take for nerve and joint pain? I am finally going to see a rheumatologist soon and I am going to ask about gabapentin. I'm not sure how safe it is for breastfeeding but the research i've done says its an L2 and the lactation consultant said its "probably compatible." I'll have to wait and see what the doctor says. I really want LO to get breast milk (REALLY), but I also have to be able to function to take care of him. Anyway, i'm curious to know what has helped with your pain in the past!
  • Ugh, after last night's engorgement, I tried expressing some milk by hand... I got three drops and made my boob even more sore. Ugh. May go rent a pump tomorrow.
(We only have six weeks left in Germany so I am trying to get by without one, since the electricity current is different.)
  • Sorry, that last post belongs on the BF'ing thread. Meanwhile, coconut oil has resolved LO's:

    1) diaper rash
    2) sore belly button
    3) baby acne

I wasn't a believer in the stuff before but now I'm a total convert!!
  • One of those nights where LO will not sleep anywhere but my chest since 2am. Sent DH to the other room to sleep from 3-6, trading places with him from 6-9 so we can both get some sleep. Love this little one more than anything, but this is killing my sleep schedule considering I go back to work Monday.

Medela Harmony. $30 manual pump. Great for engorgement. I could actually pump at work from it more quickly than I could w/double electric. It can be irritating for full pump sessions if you aren't careful. Can you get something like that in Germany?

Yeah, great idea, thank you! Was thinking I needed to figure out something for the plane ride just in case, so this may be the perfect solution

I bought one of these today for kinda the opposite problem- gonna try to add in a few pumps a day to my tiny producing side in hopes that I can somehow boost production so LO can a) not get as frustrated on that side & b) BF sessions can be shortened. I figure $30 is worth the shot, especially if it means I don't have to set up the double electric.

How did you know what size to get? That's my latest hang up...

For the flanges? I must have posted somewhere else but I am just using the ones that come with it but I am at a loss as to if they're the correct size. Seemed ok with the manual but with my electric, my nipples look huge and swollen after. I may have the setting too high?

Flange size makes a difference with output and comfort! I went through 3 different flange sizes before I realized which one I should use. Hopefully this diagram helps.
