Delivered mommas- did your OB give instructions as to when it's ok to get in a pool/hot tub? I can't remember and I'm ready to swim (4 weeks PP on Thursday). Curious if anyone's already out there enjoying some sun and water!
I just thought of another FFFQ - since there are some of us who are scheduled or likely to be scheduled for induction - does anybody know what is more 'favorable' for induction? Dilation, or a softer cervix? Example - is it better to be be pretty effaced even if you are not dilated much OR dilated but not be very effaced? Hell, maybe its not even possible to be dilated without being effaced. Like I know. That's why its flame free!
People are probably just afraid of catfish situations. Ever seen that show catfish ? .... I honestly wouldn't mind being friends with a few posters here when I reopen my Facebook but I'll prob private message them to see!
I feel the same way with a few posters and Facebook
Okay...I have the dumbest question ever! Do you think the baby is currently making any noises? Like can they cry? Make little cooing sounds? So dumb I know...but I was wondering

But if you tell your boys that their loud noises are making the baby cry, it's okay. ;-) I do it all the time with BIL who is 5. I realized a few weeks ago that parenting requires a few white lies. Lol. For example, I was eating a cookie and I really didn't want to share. BIL catches me and asks what kind I was eating. (This kid always eats my food) Without missing a beat, I just said oatmeal raisin. Lol. The convo ended there.
@virginiaunicorn11@CillyMama Ok, thanks! I'll have to look in to that book, although I wish there was one entitled, "the womanly art of pumping" since little one hates the boob. Do you think it would still be useful if I have to continue to pump exclusively?
@hoodoll82 I remember reading about your ordeal and that was probably part of the reason I was so concerned. I took your advice and called my doctor's office. The nurse said it sounded normal and I think she is probably right. I don't have any of the symptoms you did so i'm just going to keep an eye on it. Thanks for your response. They didn't seem to think I was totally brain dead so i'm glad I called. : )
Ok I have a question, I was reading the post partum healing tips to see if there's things I should be getting that I don't have. I've read plenty before about witch hazel pads and tuck pads.....are those only for hemorrhoids? If not, what are they used for? I'm so confused :-S

They help soothe inflamed and swollen lady parts (kinda of like a hemorrhoid). I've seen posts about people soaking the pad in witch hazel and putting them in the freezer

So true! My mom's nieces are only 10-15 years younger than her and she lived with them during part of her college years. She used to get those raspberry flavored bon bon candies that come in little metal tins. Her nieces always wanted to try them but she'd tell them it was her medicine so they wouldn't want to - totally worked. But now, 25 years later, they still talk about how mean she was to lie about that haha
I read somewhere my last pregnancy that babies do mimic and practice crying in the womb! Don't know if that involves any noise....? But it was astounding to me!
I just Dr Googled my own question...and babies can cry! But who knows if they make any sound? They say that they can even see their little bottom lip quiver in ultrasounds. How sad!
Sorry this might be a TMI... How does the mucus plug look? Does it have to have blood in it? I went to pee earlier and I had some mucus on the paper, but no blood. So I'm wondering if it was my plug I lost... :-??

I lost my mucous plug three weeks ago (and I'm still pregnant). Mine was about an inch long and half inch wide, clearish yellow blob about the consistency of the tacky glue they use to seal junk mail shut... It had a little tinge of brown in it...
Earlier in the pregnancy, I lost little bits and it was the same consistency and cookie but much smaller amounts, like pea sized, and according to Google, most likely regenerated.

Mine was about 1 1/2 inches. Greenish clearish. No blood. It was thicker than normal discharge... More jello like... Remind me not to eat jello anytime soon.

I did a quick search on Dr. Google about this a while ago, lots of people have such a small amount that it goes unnoticed while others report having 'handfuls for days', so I suppose there is a large spectrum of what's normal.
You MP doesn't generally have blood in it, but when it does it's referred to as the 'bloody show'. I don't think there is much of a difference with what's happening in your body whether you experience one or the other, I think the blood can just be a sign that your cervix is softening and small blood capillaries are breaking off.
Although there is a big difference between what could be going on if your 'bleeding' (resembles your menstrual cycle) versus experiencing the 'bloody show' (pink, brown or red hue in the MP). And if your bleeding... call your doc stat!
I think I might have lost the plug. This morning when I used the restroom, there was a bit more. There wasn't as much as last night but there it was there. No blood on it still, just gooey looking. I don't know if it just in my head, but I woke up this morning with lower back pain... Maybe it's my body's way of telling me get ready for labor... @-)

Yes, mine kinda looked liked that. White-ish in color.

Mine looked like jello also. I'm sure that's what they'll give us at the hospital, just remember not to eat it. b-(

Ok. Yesterday at the doctors I wasn't dilated. So maybe that's why it wasn't bloody. No, no bleeding, thankfully.
Do you have to lose your mucous plug before your water breaks? Neither happened with my first so I wasn't sure
I dunno, but I can say that I'm 40+3 and I still haven't lost my mucus plug (either that or i didnt know, and im assuming i would kbow), and somewhere in these threads I read another gal who said she didn't lose hers until her was in for real labor. I know that doesn't help much, but that's what I've picked up from women who have went a ways without losing theirs

I never lost mine, or if I did, it was after they broke my water in the hospital in hour 16 of labor, so I didn't notice it.
My mom is very adomant on the fact that "all first babies are late" and keeps repeating it to me over and over. She doesn't understand why I don't want to travel 2+ hours to my hometown this close to my due date because according to her there's no possible way my baby will come early. So I guess what I want to know (mainly to prove my mother wrong) is how many people have had their first babies come early, or right on time?

My LO came the day before my due date! I was so convinced she was going to be late too, all of my mom's babies were late (I was 2 weeks late and I was her first), and at my appointment 2 days before I went into labor I was only 1.5cm dilated. Anything can happen!

If you check out the birth announcements thread at the top most people said how far along they were when they delivered. My mom said the same thing and sadly she was right since I'm sitting here at 41 weeks :-q
I'm afraid to Google this, but how sensitive is a baby's soft spot? I accidentally pushed it a little yesterday when he was in the Moby and I bent down for something. I am terrified and mortified, but logically know it's probably ok. Need to be way more careful. This is a new level of self-loathing...

Same for me with all of my 3 previous pregnancies. Never noticed loosing it.

I read in LO's discharge papers that they were okay if they got pushed a little when moving/laying down & the top one may "pulse" a little when they strain/cry. Said it was made to help through birth canal so squishing a little is okay. It's like accidentally stepping on your dog times a million! I feel ya!

I've kind of just sifted through the birth announcements and haven't fully read all of them, but I should pull them up and be like 'look mom, it is possible'. She just likes to think she's an expert on all things baby.

I was so certain that I'd be late since I read that FTM's give birth in average like 40.6... and then my water broke at 38.5. And I had a doc's appt less than 24 hours prior where I was still at only fingertip dilation and high baby. So, there ya go. There's no telling!
