**High Risk Mommas**

I know that there are quite a few "high-risk" moms here on this board. How would you all feel about a weekly check-in? A place where we can discuss similar issues, get support, and lend an ear? If so, let's do a quick intro. How far along? Why are you high-risk? How have you been coping with everything?

  • I'm 28 weeks and am high-risk due to pre-term labour, incompetent cervix, and a cerclage. It was really crazy for about a month after my cerclage was placed but things have calmed done and I've been ticking along just great. I actually feel really blessed so far this pregnancy.

@purplebookmark what is a chromosome inversion, if you don't mind me asking?

@jaquex3 your attitude is beautiful. I admire it and you.

@marissalynn0620 glad to hear you have gotten adjusted to modified rest. It's a struggle, but so worth it!

  • @DSculley1824 that's crazy and scary, but so awesome how long you've made it since it happened. Does your hospital have crafts and such to keep you occupied?

One of my chromosomes has part of the sequence that is reversed. I had four early miscarriages because of it, the correct genetic material just isn't there every time. Sometimes it is (I have had two successful pregnancies), it just depends what part of the chromosomes in my eggs combines with DH's.

I've never heard of that before. So does it just come down to the luck of the draw then? I'm sorry about your previous losses.

That is it exactly, luck of the draw. You can do IVF with genetic testing I believe to make sure the embryo is balanced chromosomally. We did not find out the results of our RPL testing until I was already pregnant with my second child and this pregnancy was a happy surprise so it wasn't something we looked into but if my kids inherit the inversion that would be an option for them someday.

I'm 28 weeks. Baby girl was diagnosed at 20 weeks with CCAM, large mass on her left lung. Currently it is putting pressure on her heart. It grew from 20-22 weeks and from 22-28, it has stayed the same size I have continued weekly ultrasounds with a mfm to make sure heart failure doesn't occur. She will see a pediatric surgeon shortly after birth and they will decide when she will have surgery to remove the mass.

Prayers for you and baby, that must be so stressful and hard.

I'll check in, too! I will be 31 weeks tomorrow, which my high risk doctor said would be a win! I have a bicornuate uterus that was found when my son was born at 30 weeks 4 days via emergency c-sec. I am optimistic that I will go a little longer, but I still have that worry in the back of my mind. I worry we will be spending weeks in NICU again, or that something may happen to her. I am getting weekly shots and have way more appointments this time around. Crossing my fingers for all of you ladies!

Sorry if this posts multiple times. My app is out of whack :)
  • @breezymeema7 oh I have lots to do in here! I have books, magazines, coloring books, card games, sun catcher kid, board games, etc. My cousin also bought me an Amazon Fire Stick so I can keep current with all of my tv shows :)

Good, I'm glad to gear you are keeping "busy." I attempted knitting last time I was on strict hospital bed rest. I made a really horrible crooked baby scarf. I have since retired my needles ;)
  • @mhersch17 , I have had 3 friends that had blood clotting issues when pregnant, did the shots, and have healthy babies born at full term!
  • I am high risk as of last Friday, so this is new to me. I was diagnosed with Cholestasis. I have been doing lots of research and praying :)
  • Im high risk due to my arthritis originally and now even more so because of DS's clubfoot and enlarged ventricles.

Ive been told im at the lower end of the spectrum but will continue to see my high risk OB and get monthly, possibly biweekly US to check on DS and make sure his ventricles havent increased. The increased US's are causing alot of anxiety before each appt so Im just trying to work thru that mostly.

GL to all the High Risk moms on the board!
