I know that there are quite a few "high-risk" moms here on this board. How would you all feel about a weekly check-in? A place where we can discuss similar issues, get support, and lend an ear? If so, let's do a quick intro. How far along? Why are you high-risk? How have you been coping with everything?
Re: **High Risk Mommas**
I'm 31 weeks along and I am high risk because I have Factor V Leiden, Lupus Anticoagulant and a chromosome inversion.
I am by nature a worrier, but I am coping by focusing on one day at a time
@Breezymeema7 Count me in!
I am 30 weeks.
I am high risk because of a shortened cervix.
Lots of checkups, lots of U/S's and lots of rest. The bed rest/pelvic rest thing was hard for me at first, because I am a "go, go, go!" type person. I just remember that every day I take it easy, and follow Dr,'s orders, is another day my little boy gets to stay cooking!
I'm 28 weeks, considered high risk because of a positive Down syndrome test, which puts the baby at risk for certain defects and god forbid spontaneous death.
It took some time to come to terms with everything and certainly makes pregnancy a little more stressful, but we pray everyday and already consider ourselves lucky to have made it this far!

I'm 28 weeks and am high-risk due to pre-term labour, incompetent cervix, and a cerclage. It was really crazy for about a month after my cerclage was placed but things have calmed done and I've been ticking along just great. I actually feel really blessed so far this pregnancy.
@purplebookmark what is a chromosome inversion, if you don't mind me asking?
@jaquex3 your attitude is beautiful. I admire it and you.
@marissalynn0620 glad to hear you have gotten adjusted to modified rest. It's a struggle, but so worth it!
Other than that, im dealing with Spd, where my hips and pelvic bones are separating already, which is painful, but not harmful. I ordered a prenatal cradle belt to wear.

Although, I have had a TON of doctors appointments, things have been going great so far. Fingers crossed that continues!
That is it exactly, luck of the draw. You can do IVF with genetic testing I believe to make sure the embryo is balanced chromosomally. We did not find out the results of our RPL testing until I was already pregnant with my second child and this pregnancy was a happy surprise so it wasn't something we looked into but if my kids inherit the inversion that would be an option for them someday.

Good, I'm glad to gear you are keeping "busy." I attempted knitting last time I was on strict hospital bed rest. I made a really horrible crooked baby scarf. I have since retired my needles
The day I found out my progesterone levels were back to normal, they found I had placenta previa. The day I found out the placenta had moved, I had entered the "risky" time frame for the baby due toy bicornuate uterus. My uterus is shaped like a "V" and the baby is in the left horn (side). He essentially only has a half a uterus to grow in so it dramatically increased my chances of cervical shortening. I was seeing my mfm every two weeks for ultrasounds. I finally got cleared to go once a month instead as I was doing so well but got a phone call 2 days later to tell me I had gestational diabetes. So I'm back to every two weeks again because the baby has less room to grow and they are worried that he'll grow too fast due to the GD. It's been quite the roller coaster ride but his growth is good and my numbers have been fine so far. Somewhere in all that they found that I had pretty severe anemia and a low blood count. I still struggle to keep those numbers in check.
I'm 30 weeks along. I was diagnosed with a shortened cervix at 22 weeks. I've been on progesterone suppositories since then. So many check-ups, ultrasounds, dilation checks. Several trips to the hospital due to intense cramps and preterm labor scares. I actually just got back from the doctor's office today because last night I had intense cramps. I thought baby was coming but thankfully she's still ok in there. Any more cramps like this though I'll be back at the hospital.
Here's to hoping we're all able to make it to full term with healthy babies and healthy us, too!
Anyway after having three previous miscarriages, I finally learned I have Lupus and it affects my blood causing clots causing my miscarriages. So they have me seeing a blood specialist as well as my OB. So far baby has been doing well and this will be our first. I've been on baby aspirin and extra folic acid the entire pregnancy, and they're also keeping an eye on me and baby due to me having heart palpitations and having to take a beta blocker for that. Yay meds all over the place!
Tomorrow I've got my glucose test (oh boy) and an ultrasound.
Best wishes for everyone!
Ive been told im at the lower end of the spectrum but will continue to see my high risk OB and get monthly, possibly biweekly US to check on DS and make sure his ventricles havent increased. The increased US's are causing alot of anxiety before each appt so Im just trying to work thru that mostly.
GL to all the High Risk moms on the board!
Colten James - 9/9/2005
Isabella Ann - 7/20/2012
SURPRISE!!! Emma Leigh - due 8/27/2015 (c-section date 8/7/2015)
But luckily, our lil girl is still growing and hasn't shown any signs of distress!
I'm 30 weeks today. I have been high risk since the very beginning. I was pregnant was twins but one didn't survive very early on. I also am a survivor of thyroid cancer and have rheumatoid arthritis and another autoimmune disorder. My endocrinologist monitors my thyroid levels routinely. Due to my autoimmune disorders I tested positive for some antibodies that puts my baby at risk of developing congenital heart block. Since 18 weeks I have been seeing MFM MDs weekly to have ultrasounds of my babies heart. Just recently I am now able to go to MFM appts every 2 weeks. I still also go to my regular OB as well. So far everything looks good and my little ones heart is holding strong!!
Thank you to all the other women on here for sharing and your bravery!!
