Would love to join. I'm high risk because I had my first miscarriage last October 2014, low progestrone , Crohn's disease, and blood clots. I will be 31 weeks Friday , and very excited to meet my baby girl. It has been tough and hard to speak to anyone but my significant other about my struggles. If I even vent to anyone else , then they will think something is wrong with me and freak out. Then that would freak me out and get annoyed . I had spotting last week and freaked me out, but my Obgyn and I think baby is growing as well as I. Being high risk is tired some because of all those appts . But , all is well and I'm grateful to see my Bella more than others can see their baby .
I have this issue as well. DH gets to hear everything, (and of course you lovely ladies) but I dare not tell our families anything or they seriously freak out!
Cody Lane - 4/22/2004 Colten James - 9/9/2005 Isabella Ann - 7/20/2012 SURPRISE!!! Emma Leigh - due 8/27/2015 (c-section date 8/7/2015)
I'll check in, too! I will be 31 weeks tomorrow, which my high risk doctor said would be a win! I have a bicornuate uterus that was found when my son was born at 30 weeks 4 days via emergency c-sec. I am optimistic that I will go a little longer, but I still have that worry in the back of my mind. I worry we will be spending weeks in NICU again, or that something may happen to her. I am getting weekly shots and have way more appointments this time around. Crossing my fingers for all of you ladies!
Sorry if this posts multiple times. My app is out of whack
I have a bicornuate uterus also, and FTM so I have been nervous since day 1!! 29 weeks tomorrow and so far no issues but we are pretty sure he's growing in the left horn of my uterus. I have a growth ultrasound next Monday to see exactly where he is, how he's growing and also see if my cervix is shortening. I am so nervous about having a pre-term baby! Really hoping he's head down already and will stay in until at least 34 weeks. I have tried to stay active and eat healthy so I'm hoping this is helping keep him in there longer!
I'll join in too! I am 28 weeks tomorrow and am high risk due to:
3 losses in 2014 (1 chemical, 2 ectopic- leading to removal of left FT) after 2 normal, full term babies
Identical twin pregnancy!
Diagnosed with IUGR @ 16 weeks-- modified bed rest and mega protein diet
Diagnosed with twin to twin transfusion @ 22 weeks; corrective surgery @ 23 weeks
Baby B has small placental share (<10%), leading to worsened IUGR after surgery. Baby A measuring over 1lb bigger than Baby B.
I go twice a week to the MFM to check size, fluid and dopplers. Monday was the first day that we had an abnormal doppler (baby . I will get a steroid shot on Thursday & Friday and pray that these boys stay in at least until 30 weeks (June 18th).
For now, we are so thankful that I dont have to be in the hospital and I am able to work from home (or in the car, if we are on our way to a dr appt) and my husband is a SAHD, so he has been at every single appt with me. Our moms are both retired and live close and have been at our beck and call anytime we need them. We have a whole community invested in these babies and so we count ourselves very blessed. But, it is still a very hard journey! Especially since I went from taking 0 pills a day to taking over 20!
Hi guys, wow I wasn't expecting so many stories on here what a great idea for us all to share and show support. I'm 28 weeks 4 days and was diagnosed with intermittent AEDF which basically means the an artery in the cord reduces blood flow to my baby and stops every now again, it can progress in 3 stages. First intermittent, then absent then reversal. I have to get scanned twice weekly and I'm praying to god it doesn't progress to reversal as this means it takes blood from the baby and I have to have an emergency c section. I also have low fluid around my baby so he's movemts are restricted and can cause other problems. My boy weighs in at 2 pounds 6 ounces already so he's progressing great so far. Fingers crossed he stays put and we can get to atleast 34 weeks. Good luck to all you other ladies, I realy can relate to your concers and worries.
@laurajam my nephew had that in utero, along with IUGR - he was born at 28 weeks, 5 days and is 4.5 now and awesome!!
I'm not even sure I qualify as high-risk (I'm guessing no compared to everyone else) but I do have complete placenta previa and likely will be delivering via c-section at 36 weeks. So far no bleeding or bed rest, just on restricted activity and pelvic rest. 2 previous pregnancies that had no issues and were both vaginal births.
DS 1 was an unexpected preemie at 34 weeks, due to PPROM (woke up in the middle of the night to my water breaking, had him 10 hours later).
DS 2 was a 36 weeker thanks to the 17P (now called Makena) shots, and several weeks of bedrest. Had him the day after my last injection. Fast and furious labor & birth.
Due August 18th with a girl, but my last injection is July 23 so I am planning on a July baby but crossing my fingers for an August girl! That would put me at 37 weeks 4 days but here's to hoping! People still laugh when I tell them we are prepared to go early, like its wishful thinking on my part and not due to actual previous experience. So annoying. What they don't realize is I'd love to shock the hell out of everybody and carry full term. After dealing with NICU stays and general preemie setbacks, 40 weeks is such a gift!
I'm 29 weeks yesterday and feeling way more action than I would like at this stage of the game but just crossing my fingers, drinking water, resting, and taking things one day at a time! Happy I'm a teacher and on summer break.
I am 28w 5d. I am considered high risk due to my age (I'll be 37 on Tuesday), family history of diabetes, and having my daughter by c-section at 36w 1d due to a placenta abruption. So far, there has been nothing out of the ordinary. I have been getting monthly ultrasounds since week 8. Tomorrow I have to take the 3 hour glucose test because I failed my 1 hour one last week. Fingers crossed that I pass!
I'm 27 weeks 4 days and I have autoimmune issues (lupus, risk of blood clot, and heart block) and twins. There are a lot of scary risks, but actually no problems so far. The perinatologist even told us a couple weeks ago that we are pretty much out of the woods for heart block and that we don't need to see her anymore!
Sidenote: Why must everyone be closer to their due date than me? Waaaaah.
Checking In....I am considered high risk because in 2011, at athe age of 30, I had a T.I.A or Mini Stroke possibly due to long term use of birth control...I have been doing fine, but today I was told that I failed my 3 hour gluclose test with a 155 and have gestational Diabetes. My nerves are a wreck since I hate needles and barely made it through the 4 sticks for the glucose test. I poked myself for the first time, but was given an error message that I did not put enough blood on the test strip. I havent gotten my nerve up to try again :-/ so now Im a waiting for a phone call to schedule a diabetics awareness class...
And my nerves are on 10, the doctor was talking about 1)mostly likely can be controlled with diet & exercise...then 2)but if not insulin...3)then if uncontrolled fetal demise..then she was talking about induction at 37 weeks....all this right after I told her my birth plan...nope right out the window...induction..poticin...stripped membranes....and all these DAMN needle sticks..im frustrated and scared
In 30 wks and high risk due to factor v Leiden, a strong family history of clots, a crazy thyroid gland, mitral and tricuspid valve prolapse, and low papp a.
We feel very blessed that so far we've had no issues other than low papp a that we didn't already know about going in. I've been on on lovenox and baby aspirin since 6 weeks to prevent clots and have ultrasounds every 3 weeks to monitor growth.
She isn't growing at quite the rate they'd like to see per the last ultrasound, but I'm hopeful that has changed at my next one on Monday.
Home stretch ladies! I'm just hoping she'll stay in until her planned delivery date and we won't have to change the plan to get her out early.
I am 30 weeks as of today. I'm also high risk due to me having leukemia 4 years ago even though Ive been done with chemotherapy for about 2 years now they need to watch my pregnancy very closely. But thank god I am expecting this baby girl in end of July / beginning august . And she is healthy as ever!!
Another high risk pregnancy here due to a shortened cervix (thanks to a cervical tear when I delivered my DD 2 years ago). At 21 weeks my cervix was 2.3 cm, 2 weeks later it was 1.5cm with funneling. I had a pessary ring put in place and prescribed nightly progesterone suppositories. I had been going to the doctor weekly in May but was finally cleared to wait 2 weeks this time since my cervix actually lengthened to 1.7cm. Other than lots of cramping and having some restrictions, this pregnancy has been pretty kind to me.
I am 29 weeks. At 22 weeks my baby boy's left kidney did not show up on the ultrasound. I was referred to MFM specialists, where he was diagnosed with a pelvic kidney. His kidney is resting next to his bladder with a twisted ureter... because of this, the right kidney is three times normal size from picking up the slack.
I am getting bi-weekly ultrasounds to track kidney function. When he is born he will have to see a pediatric urologist to determine when or if surgery is necessary.
Has anyone been told that they have too much amniotic fluid? Everyone I have talked to said that they've either had or heard of women who had too little but not too much. I went for an ultrasound Thursday to check my low-lying placenta and it has finally moved thank goodness! But then when I met with the doctor afterwards he said that I have too much fluid and I am having another ultrasound on the 17th. I'm 31 weeks and 4 days. He said doctors only know two causes: 1. Gastrointestinal problems with baby (ruled out) 2. Diabetes (failed one hour but passed three hour). Other than that they have no idea. He said the only real risk is preterm labor because my uterus grows larger to allow for the fluid even if baby is not growing too large. Just wondering if anyone else has any experience with this! Thank you :-/
I'll do this!!! Awesome idea. I'm high risk for a few reasons. I have a leaky heart valve. I'm epileptic. Two of my prior Pregnanies I had preeclampsia & with this one I have now been diagnosed with hypertensive disorder which is high blood pressure without the protein in my urine for it to be diagnosed as peeclampsia yet.... I'm just hoping to make it to 37 weeks like they're taking about. But if my heart rate keeps going crazy they'll have to take her. This is my first pregnancy with the leak in my heart valve & the further I get the more my heart isn't really liking it. Its putting a lot of extra pressure on it.

@Cwhite6424 I have been diagnosed with polyhydramnious (too much fluid) this pregnancy, as well as my first pregnancy. I too am going in for another ultrasound to re-check levels as well as check baby's kidneys. My first pregnancy I ended up going into early labour at 24 weeks. They were fortunately able to stop labour and I had a procedure done to remove the excess fluid (2 liters) several days after. Unfortunately there was a problem with baby that caused my fluid to continue to build and I did go into pre-term labour several other times and eventually he was born at 28 weeks. Don't let that freak you out as there were a combination of factors involved (polyhydramnious, incompetent cervix, baby had a genetic disease) that when combined caused the early birth.
This time around, I have a cerclage so hopefully that can help my cervix stay a bit stronger despite the extra fluid, hopefully. I have never had GD so that hasn't been a factor for my excess fluid, but apparently it can cause fluid issues. You will probably continue to be monitored every couple of weeks just to make sure you, your cervix, and baby are doing okay. Let me know if you have any other questions.
I am new to this board, but hoping I can join you ladies I'm 28 weeks pg and high risk due to a family history of an issue with antibodies that causes IUGR, blood clots, placental failure, abruption, etc. Our son was born at 32 weeks due to IUGR and reversed diastolic cord flow. I am on baby aspirin and lovenox and I see a peri for doppler studies and grown scans. I also have 2 NSTs per week. So far baby boy seems to be growing well though!
Definitely high risk... FTM, 2nd pregnancy... I lost the first at 8 weeks... I am currently 31 weeks with a healthy baby boy. He is due 8/11, but he is so big already they have scheduled me to be induced July 29th... I have 7 weeks to go... I have Lupus, anemic, Fibromyalgia, degenerative discs, sciatica, asthma, and I had a Pulmonary embolism... So yeah... High risk...
@kedbach...thank you..guess this is only one big adjustment of many...lol....I was finally able to locate a spot on my arm for my glucose sticks...its not painful like the finger...Thank God!!!
I am 28 weeks 6 days and high risk due to chiari malformation, I have to have a csection under general anesthesia... Not aloud to have epidural, spinal tap or go into active labor because any of those could cause bleeding in my brain. And we've recently moved an hour away from my OB so may be delivering at 37 weeks depending on how my next ultrasound goes.
I am 29 weeks pregnant and am high risk due to a lovely little Amniotic Band. Luckily, everything looks great, but I am being watched for preterm and low birth weight due to this issue. It could have been much worse with potential problems such as cleft lip or palate, club feet, missing limbs. So far just the normal check ups with OB and monthly with the high risk clinic.
Hi all i'm 29 weeks 4 days, high risk due to diagnosis of lupus, anemia, and +SSA antigen. I have a daughter who was born 3 years ago with no issues. I was diagnosed with Lupus in may 2014. Its been interesting to say the least. I do like that I get to keep an eye on baby boy closer but it does get frustrating having to lug a 3 year old to all my appts.
I didn't want to start a new thread but geez.. It's happening again. Dizzy, stitch under my right rib, constant cramping, mild spotting, nausea, and little to no movement in 24 hours. My doctor's office opens in ten minutes, so I'm about to call. I'm trying not to get too freaked out bc I know it's not good for her. I'm hoping they'll see me in the office, but they may send me on over to l&d.
Thank you @kedbach! My husband swore nothing was wrong with me. It turns out I have a uti and it has irritated my uterus. I had to get a shot of antibiotics in my butt cheek. Ugh. They kept bringing me cokes bc she wouldn't kick. The sugar finally got her going for a bit.
I'm super late to the party, but I too am high risk. We found out at 20 weeks that our little girl has a cleft lip. So far everything else looks spectacular so we are just getting ready for her and the surgery she will need at 3 months.
Any updates from moms with a bicornuate uterus? I'll be 33 weeks this Thursday. My growth ultrasound at 29 weeks revealed that my baby is in the 13th percentile. My doctor has ordered another ultrasound at 35 weeks because it's so close to the 10th percentile (anything at 10 or below requires more monitoring). I'm so nervous that my baby isn't growing fast enough and I'm also nervous about him coming early with my uterus. Ugh. The worrying never ends!!
That's awesome news @kedbach! Hoping we stay on track and I can take this baby full term bc otherwise I've had a very healthy pregnancy and even at 33 weeks I feel great!
