For those that have LOs sleeping in the nursery, do you close the door while LO sleeps? We never have, so come nap & bedtime, we dim all the lights, tiptoe around and talk in whispers. My sister laughs at this, saying she always had the TV blaring and older siblings running around and screaming during babies' naps.
Our habits developed of course because we had such a crappy sleeper for so
long and we were desperate for every minute of sleep he could get. Now that he's sleeping better, I was thinking we might try to close the door. We have a small house and a monitor, so I'm not concerned with not being able to hear him. I guess I'm worried it will freak him out to have it closed now, but I guess there is only one way to find out.

@qotr - I shut her door for naps and bedtime and leave the air purifier going for white noise. We have a camera mounted in her room and can check on her via an app on our phones. I'm not quiet. I vacuum, use the garbage disposal, etc.

I shut the door. She seems to sleep better the darker it is. I'm like you though! She has always been a terrible napper and hard to get to sleep so then I'm like no dishes or anything loud just in case. I know she can sleep through it though because when we have the in-laws over it gets really loud and she's usually fine.
@QOTR - we shut the door to DS's nursery; we did the same with DD from the first day they came home. We also don't tone the noise down too much. We also have a sound machine in both kids' rooms that helps drown out noise!
@QOTR , we also shut her door. Since its been cold lately we've been leaving it open just a little bit but not until we go to bed. So it stays shut while we are watching tv or doing something else then we check on her before we go to bed and leave it cracked so the heater can get more warm air in her room.

DS went down at 7 and woke up at 11 and decided it was play time. We tried everything - diaper, bottle, rocking, modified CIO, but he kept kicking and rolling around and laughing whenever we were in the room. We gave up around 1 and put him in his swing. He wasn't happy at first but then he didn't make a peep the rest of the night and was even still asleep when we went to get him. I guess this is that 8 month sleep regression everyone is talking about. Fun......
Last night was the first time she went 11 hours without eating! She woke one other time that I know of but went back to sleep within a couple minutes! We have struggled sooo much with sleep these last 8 months. I am so proud of her! My mom said I didn't start sleeping well until 8 months. Well she is 8 months today. Maybe this is our magic number. Let's hope so! I was scared to say anything for fear that it could be a fluke!
@lrmrtn we went through the same. It was about a week or 2 long so not as long as the last one for sure but seems like forever when it's happening! Sorry you are going through that right now! Hopefully LO is out of it soon.
@Hbird05 DS was better last night. He kept waking up, making noise and rolling around but he put himself back to sleep each time after about ten minutes so we didn't have to go in. I think it's because he's learning to crawl. He turned himself around yesterday and can scoot backwards. I hear that's the first step. I'm hoping he'll learn quickly and then go back to sleeping well!
Where is the sleeping subject, there is a baby monitor. Haha, just kidding. I red through whole article, but found no real help. You stop discussion on September. Why?
