@mellymar I get what you are saying..... But I feel in our society with our kids learning about homosexuality, transsexuals, etc very early on in life. It's all complicated!.....
I agree on the names, doesn't bother me. My husband is one of the haters on masculine girls names. He actually says that people are "taking" all the good boys names. Yes sir, there are absolutely none left. I was hoping for a girl so I could annoy him for 9 months with my best suggestions, Frank, Dale, Albert, John.
On a serious note in our world I like the idea of unisex names. It could make things easier for kids that struggle with gender identity. And for all people it might help on a resume or school application not to be judged by gender.
And hilarious thing is that DH has named our future son and chose a Belgian name that is definitely masculine when pronounced but I think the spelling looks really feminine. Americans will guess girl on paper
@klkonwi@NotISaidtheCat yeah, I get it, too. Being from socal, hippy chick, wanting everyone to get along and everybody to be able to be married, etc. But on the other hand, not everybody thinks like that. The kids of those who are intolerant will learn that intolerance and translate it onto my potential son with the 'girls' name. Its just kind of a drag, the double standard. Otherwise I'd totally be for using names that way.
My girls are Baylee and Dylan and I have a sister named Randi after our dad. Totally dig the masculine names for girls. I never considered that I was potentially ruining a name for a boy. . . Hmm?
I love the name Brett for a girl. Like Brett Butler. My secret motive for letting DS name this boy is that I can pull the I get to name our girl card. Of course I'd have to also trick him into getting me pregnant again too!

I totally dig masculine names for girls, too. It wasn't until I started considering names for my potential boy and learning they were being used by girls, and following the lessons of how cruel kids can be down the path it led me to. I mean think about it - if the 'cool ' kids in your school knew a girl named Dylan, and did not know any other Dylan's. Then the next year a boy Dylan came into school, and the kids are still pretty young (too young to understand the idea of 'unisex' names) you KNOW the cool kids are going to go after boy Dylan for having a girls name. Its just how kids are. And if they are going to school with these same children throughout school, that boy Dylan may never break out of the stigma of being uncool, even after the kids grow into knowing that Dylan can be a boy OR girl name. You can grow out of the cool club, but almost never grow in. If I had a girl I'd totally be down with using my boy names on them. Until I saw it from this side, over here. I still love 'boy' names on girls. I just wish that kids wouldn't be so cruel about it

I think a really good (realistic) option is to give a girl a strong, feminine name, and a more masculine (or what people would call "spunky") nickname. My friend's name is Charlene, but she goes by Chuck with friends (and uses Charlene professionally). She's always had that option. Ideally even if we didn't all use the same names, it would be as ok and "cute" to name your boy a feminine name as it is to do the opposite, but we all know it just isn't that way!
I always though it was silly that my niece has my brother's very masculine name as her middle name. But one of our girl names is a very masculine middle name because it is DH's grandmother's maiden name, and also his father's and his middle names (so: meaning on both sides of DH's family).
I am really exposing a lot of my hypocrisies with this pregnancy. It's fun to see that and call myself out on my BS! Feel like I'm growing, not just in the belly, lol
Soooooo i can understand the random questions from strangers "When are you due" "Do you know what you're having" etc.. but what I cannot stand this week is the random staring at my belly!! Is it appropriate to yell "DON'T WORRY IT'S NOT A TUMOR" (in my best arnold sschwarzanegger voice)

I think it's time to do it. Next person is gonna get it! And i think it's time i start staring at non-pregnant people's bellies. Things are gonna get really weird in my work meetings lol
So my DH just came upstairs and sat on the bed next to me. He sat on my belly! Hello 38 weeks, its huge. He then askes if she was moving and I told him no because he killed her (joking of course) and I think he almost cried! Hahaa. She is moving around just fine
Puppy got a haircut a few days ago and it has been unseasonably cold the last few days... I feel so guilty for taking away his winter coat too soon! He was shivering on the couch so I had to cuddle him and put his teddy bear on him and he just finally stopped shaking. bad mom.
I cried last night because my ankles were so painfully swollen and I couldn't reach them to put some lotion on them.
I couldn't get comfortable with my legs above my heart but my heart above my head all while squishing the bowling ball.
35 weeks and I'm just so uncomfortable. I don't want to wear clothes anymore.
But at least I'm not walking around like dis.
I feel you. 35 weeks today and asked hubby the other night if I could just sit at home naked until the baby is born. I don't think that's an unreasonable request
I just got back from a walk with DH... I feel like I'm in the worst shape of my life! I guess all of this huffing and puffing is to be expected since I'm 38w4d and just went on a walk in our super hilly neighborhood but geez, I sound awful! Great work out though, even if I was moving at a snail's pace!

@karaelaine1991 That's how I am too! Every time I walk I'm super out of breath and I get a side cramp. Definitely in the worst shape of my life, but I think I'm okay with that. I joke that I have a hard time walking across the parking lot at Target, but really, it's not much of a joke.
Here's a random question for STMs .... What diaper genie brand works the best? ... Someone had commented way a couple months ago the tommee tippee one was good but it has terrible reviews! .... Looking to get one.
@klkonwi - per reviews around here, playtex is the thing.. I won't be getting one we have a one story house, and I would rather walk down the hall and out the garage door and put the poopies outside, rather than being stored like sausage links in his room.. But some people swear by them. Checkout Playtex brand
@klkonwi always had luck with diaper genie... The plastic starts to smells after a long while (like over 2 years) but we bought another one this time around.... Plus the generic target refills work with it
I've asked a bunch of friends via text this evening. The majority of them said don't buy one! One person said the arm and hammer one she loved.... Hmmmm.
To me, besides the thought of poop sausages in his room (I'm weird lol).. It's just one more thing to store (which you will want to keep hidden because they are an eye sore) and one more thing you have to make sure you keep stocked (bags)
We swear by our diaper genie, although I've never tried other brands so I don't know how it compares. We like it. We've lived in tiny condos since having DS 2.5 years ago, so there's really no way we could get by throwing the diapers in the regular garbage. Our whole place would stink!
As for boys with girls names. We wanted to name DS Kelly, but settled on Kellen, with Kelly as a nn. When push came to shove, we just didn't know how we would feel if he hated his "girl" (although historically a boy's) name. We call him Kelly 90% of the time, so sometimes I wonder why we cared so much. However, he'll have the option of Kellen of he so chooses in the future.
I also went to school with a girl named Brett, she was beautiful and the nicest girl ever (and she loved her name).

@serenamarr
He said
" omg, it's vagina snot "
He completely freaked out. Lol
That's what he gets for being nosey. Lol
