Weekly Randoms! (5/18-5/24)

Figured I'd start one of these cause I had to share this with everyone but it didn't quite deserve its own post...

Today I was doing yoga/working out with a friend and I was trying to find some new pregnancy friendly exercises. While searching I came across an article on third trimester exercises. During its description of Pelvic Tilts it said that while on hands and knees to "avoid letting your stomach hang low." I couldn't contain my laughter at all =)) I realize what they were tryingggg to say. But I'm 37 weeks pregnant, my stomach is always hanging low, I can't just "suck it in!" Hahaha

  • Can't. Stop. Cleaning!
I'm driving my husband nuts with all the things I need him to do around here. Poor guy! I can't stop though! We live in a one bedroom duplex until I graduate nursing school this coming December then we will buy a house. So I've been trying to organize and get rid of so much to make room. But it's coming along! After my last final Wednesday that's all I'm doing with my time until babys here lol

  • it's mid night and I'm washing baby clothes. I'd I'm starting to nest as well. I feel a panic setting in about what baby still needs too. I only have four blankets and I'm about to cry about it. Dang hormones.

I melted a baby bottle lid in the dishwasher. It must have fell to the bottom. I almost cried about it. I keep telling myself it's just a lid! I HATE hormones!
    ETA:
Also I cleaned all the parts to my breast pump. How do you get all the water out of the tubing? I have it hanging but it's still stuck in there. Any ideas?

I'm glad that I'm in the last month. Hopefully, come June 18th, the band will be complete! I'm so ready to be done. My patience is as thin as a wet kleenex.

But at least the coconut oil thread continues to entertain. :)

In my manual it says to leave the tubes attached without the bottles and just let the motor keep running until all the condinsation is out. I've also read you can "carefully" swing them around your head like a rope... But that probably isn't recommended.
  • Brought my pup to the groomers today. I think I get more stressed over it than he does. I just sit there thinking why is it taking so long is he ok he must be suffering he thinks I abandoned him. And now we are home and of course he's fine but he pouts at me and won't look at me :( breaks my heart.

I was looking back at old pics of myself on Facebook and realized I've forgotten what it's like not to have a belly. Then I wondered if I'll ever look like my old self again.

    I also hate skinny people.

Ditto. Did a 17/27/37 week side by side and barely recognize my old self. It's alllll worth it!
  • So I tried to try my ergo on and needless to say it's doesn't fit right with my baby belly lol kinda comical though.

Not sure if anyone else has this craving but I am OBSESSED with outshine bars (frozen fruit bar), but I found some made with coconut water & pineapple! Healthy & hydrating! Yummmmm.

    I love the strawberry kind!!
  • So now and then when I get bored here I check out the names board...and man, those ladies are bitches!! =)) Check out the two-pager just titled "." I got, uh, quite the kick out of it...lol.

And I just started my own discussion to see what kind of reactions I'll get to the names of my kids so far...
  • @HayesRN13 Its for people like me who get diagnosed with late onset gd.I know I shouldn't joke but I got diagnosed at 37 weeks and had to meet with one at 37w3d. Just to be told by my ob to just monitor my blood sugar but not change my diet.
  • @rklinge0 it was more of a joke as to I'm eating a ton and I only have a couple weeks left that there is no point in changing it now.. And knowing others can relate (obviously I understand this doesn't apply to DM/GDM late diagnosed or otherwise

DH called his mom for her birthday and she finally brought up the subject I knew was coming...
The cats stealing the baby's breath.
"It's because of the milk on their breath". I was kinda pissed at him, tho, cause he cut her off right there. I wanted to hear exactly how a cat steals breath, and what her solution to the problem was. :))

My grandma believed this. I will tell you her theory. It sits on the baby's chest and sucks the breath from it's mouth - like a dementor, sort of, that's how I always imagined it. The solution is to not have cats. She HATED cats. Really obnoxious small dogs? Totally cool. :D
  • @HayesRN13 I wasn't offended. Hope it didn't come across that way.

It's kind of a rule that they don't bad mouth already-born-kids' names, so probably no one will say anything. If you wanted to stir things up you should have said you were thinking of naming your son that. Then you'd get some comments!
  • No not at all, I literally am a bottomless pit lately and when I saw that sticky I immediately had a quilty conscience, like it was directed at me lol

Oh, I saw them get pretty nasty about one woman's already named daughters recently because they had "boy" names (she was also considering a masuline name for her DD on the way). So far though I'm getting name suggestions I really do like, though...looks like hubby and I can't be done yet!

Anyone feel like their "area" is swelled?

I think it's b.s, when people say you can't name your girl masculine names. I grew up Kasey and I would have been Casey (c) if I was a boy. There are soooooo many worse things to name your kid than a masculine name.
But i probably have the unpopular opinion here: I don't want to start anything though!!!
  • I love unisex names, masculine included. There's no good reason to give someone shit for naming their daughter Rowan, Carson, Emmerson, etc. Some of these ladies think too much of themselves.
  • klkonwiklkonwi member
Yes. No one ever made fun of me growing up and that's probably what most of us worry about for our kid.
  • Awe @klkonwi ..my daughters name is Kacey

My only problem with using boy names for girls is that boys may be teased for "having a girl's name" if a girl comes around first with that name. A girl can rock a boys name. A boy will have it alot harder if he is perceived to be named with a girls name. Both of the boy names I like are being used with girls a bit now, and I don't want my potential son to be teased because a girl with his name went thru the grade before him and spoiled the children into thinking that name was girls only - cause you know kids don't think about 'unisex' names. All they know is they knew a GIRL named whatever, and here is this BOY with the same name, so he must be pretending to be a girl, or a girl pretending to be a boy, or whatever, and its different than what they know, and kids are mean to kids who are different.

ETA so basically, those that give girls boys names are 'ruining' the use of that name for anybody who has a boy with that name.
