Is there some sort of a sleep regression at this age? I need some sort of explanation for this nap chaos!
According to the Wonder Weeks app, our A14 babies are in the middle of the "sequences" leap, which starts with a fussy period. Definitely been experiencing that here!

Maybe that explains why LO has started acting like a little psycho. She's throwing tantrums anytime we tell her no or take something away. I thought we had more time before this all started!!!

Yes! DD has started acting like a toddler lately, I worried it was just me!

It's not just you! I freaked out the other day bc I started thinking like, did I break my kid or something?! Why is she acting like this?!

I should probably just buy the app, but what does the sequences leap entail? We're having weirdness too.
@talltrees82 explain this one! I usually keep up with them but not lately. J has definitely developed a habit of fussing in new ways lately and I totally buy into Wonder Weeks.
@smushi - you may have already tried all of these but tips I have learned for a soar diarrhea baby butt are:
Don't use regular wipes, they sting more. Try using just a wet rag.
Let the bum completely air dry then slather with ointment - I also put some ointment right on the diaper (this works especially if LO's bum is too soar for you to really touch to put ointment on).
Try letting LO soak in a warm oatmeal bath (I just put dry oatmeal in a sock and tie it shut.
Its really hard and can be gross but letting LO go without a diaper as much as possible as the air help the skin heal.
Good luck! Poor LO!
Thanks! We're doing all of the above. His meds are just awful on the firey diarrhea, and even with sudden changes it's bad.
Yes, please tell us. I get the bump and everyday family " your baby week __" updates and half the crap she is going through now they said should have happened months ago.

In a waiting room right now- forgive me if I disappear for a little bit!
"Sequences" leap: babies are learning that basic actions happen in a sequence, e.g., grab spoon, put spoon in bowl, scoop yogurt on spoon, put spoon in mouth, eat yogurt.
This leap runs from weeks 40-46 (start counting on baby's due date, not birthday). The first four weeks are the fussy period as the brain develops. The last two weeks are when baby starts to apply the newly learned skills.
Skills include: - answers simple questions (e.g., how big?) - points at things - puts together a simple puzzle - stacks rings onto the ring pyramid - repeats games - imitates gestures you make - tries to put a sock on by him/herself (but does not succeed)
Looking at those skills, my LO is nowhere near close to any of them. But I've been following the app since his birth and he typically does most of the things shortly after (a couple days or weeks) the leap ends.
I don't map out his life or abilities by he wonder weeks, but when I find lo's extra fussy or he's learned something new, it does seem to coincide with a leap. I also like looking ahead to see what's coming!
The app was only $1.99, worth the two bucks for sure.
My life has become too mundane. How do I liven it up without making drastic lifestyle changes?
Sorry you're feeling this way! Here are some things off the top of my head:
- interest class (cooking, crafts, fitness, first aid, etc) do something you've never done before! - new hairstyle - plan a getaway, even if it's only for one night and you have to take the kids - girls night out - date night

I was looking at the abilities earlier today and I had that same thought. If I give her a puzzle she's likely to just throw it at me.

Ha ha I bought LO a dollar store puzzle last week and he just chewed on the pieces. Although the past two days I've noticed him placing the pieces on the puzzle. Not in the right spots, or any spot, but he's got the concept that the pieces go onto the board. Sometimes.
The only thing I'm noticing LO doing on that list is putting rings on the stacker. Not in the right order, though. He also just started putting stacking blocks inside each other. He is an April 2 due date (and birthdate) baby. Those other skills I'm not seeing at all yet.

I was just going to ask the same thing! Naps are horrible and we are waking at night again!
We've had a few night wakings, but at this point I'll still consider them one offs. I think it might be linked to separation anxiety and also new skills. He loves to pull up to standing, so the minute he wakes up he's going to stand rather than self soothe... I still nurse and/or rock to sleep. It's been working for me, but maybe it isn't anymore and it's time to regroup on strategy...

Same for us @yellowflower15. I watch on the video monitor and if he stays laying down chances are good he'll settle. But usually he crawls in circles and then stands up. And then it's all over and I have to go in to help him get back to sleep. I can do once a night, but if he starts doing more than that on a regular basis, we may have to rethink our strategy too.
LO has been throwing up for the past two hours. First time it's ever happened to her and of course it happens in the car when we are an hour and a half from home. Of course I had to turn around and head home while she was still throwing up in the car. I think I pulled over at least 7 times to make sure she was ok and didn't choke. Back home and sleeping on my chest now still with the occasional puking. Worst. Night. Ever.

Awww, poor LO! Puking is awful because they have no idea what is going on, just tummy pain and stuff coming out of their mouths. I hope she gets better asap!

@sherks11 we had the same thing happen to us! Thankfully I was able to sit in the backseat while she was vomiting, but we had an hour drive home! It's so awful the first time it happens, but next time you'll be a pro. Sorry your LO is sick.
Thanks ladies! It was a rough night with lots of throw up (I don't know how she fit it all in that little tummy) but she is already much happier this morning!! Hopefully it continues!!!
Aw man! Puking baby is bad enough but in the car on a long ride...thats terrible! Both of my LO's had a nasty puke bug last week that they nicely shared with DH and I then went straight into nasty colds ggrr!
Poor DS just potty trained in the fall and has not had any accidents in months but has been having bad coughing fits that have made him pee his pants a few times yesterday and he got so upset! Taking him to the doctor tomorrow for his 3 year well child check and have them look him over good as he has been sick about a week now
@BADASBKRCK so sorry for your loss. Alzheimer's is absolutely heartbreaking.
I spoke too soon about LO feeling better. She won't take a bottle or even nurse but she really wants water. So of course I let her have some because I don't want her to be dehydrated but she keeps throwing it all back up. Time to call the dr..,

My Uncle just passed. He had alzheimers and declined very very rapidly, so this was expected, but I will miss him a lot.
