Re: Getting to Know You - Occupation

  • I am a part time barista and 3/4 time Family and Wedding Photographer. This is my first little (thank you Jesus!) I will quit my barista job this summer to be able to take care of growing baby and focus on busy photo season. Come October, full time mama and photographer! Can't wait!

  • I am a fitness instructor too! I teach Zumba and pure barre and a hip hop fitness class. I used to teach pole fitness but think I am going to give that up when I'm pregnant cuz I think it would get really hard once I get bigger!
  • Hullo.
I am a freelance event planner and model (when it suits) but I guess I wont be doing any modeling anytime soon
  • I am a Managing Editor working in the ever-interesting world of pharmaceutical marketing... (not what I envisioned when I got an English degree).

I will be able to take 12 weeks of paid leave, and then it's back to work.
  • Hi everyone! Im a brow artist at a brow bar in a department store, not gonna say which one cause there's creepers out there haha. I hope I don't get morning sickness cause I bet the perfume counters in my store would make it soooooo much worse.
  • I have started to paint custom ordered portraits from home.

It isn't steady yet, but it will allow me to bring in something while staying home with the little one. The husband suggested it. I didn't feel confident enough in myself and am afraid some months I may not make a dime, but he assured me that we have enough on his income alone to manage everything if that happened. Support really helps with anything like this. I'm lucky.
  • I am a manager of organizational effectiveness in Human Resources for a large financial services organization.  I plan to take at least 12 weeks off, maybe up to 16, and will then return to work.  I'll use the 6 weeks of paid maternity, along with paid vacation and then just unpaid time.  The great thing is being due on October, I can save most of my vacation time for that (I get about 30 days or so each year).  Fortunately, I have an amazing home daycare provider, who cared for my son, to watch our new little one.
    Me: 39
    DH: 39

    TTC: #3 - first cycle TTC - 10/2014

    Preg #2 - PTL @ 30.1 weeks - Kellen born @ 3 lbs. 5 oz in Jan 2010 - My Pride and Joy
  • I am a Customer Service Representative, so I don't get much love. :(

I will be staying at my job once the little one is born. My DH will be in the process of getting a green card so he can't really work. (He does make an income but not enough to survive on). Great timing, hmm?

  • I am an attorney. I don't know how much time I will take off, but it may be something like 3-4 weeks. Then I'm going to try to get the dad to take a few weeks off so we don't have to do daycare that young. Can't stand the thought of daycare but it's necessary unless we think we can afford a nanny.
  • Hi everyone! I'm a respiratory therapist in pediatric and neonatal intensive care, which makes being preggo super scary because I see the worst of the worst with babies all the time! Trying to stay positive!! I'll be taking 12 weeks off then probably going back full time! Hopefully someday we will be able to afford for me to only work part time
  • I currently work two min wage jobs. I really want to be a stay at home mom but DH and I will have to see what our finances look like closer to October. DH is active duty navy stationed in Virginia. I really don't think my two jobs will cover daycare. Might be cheaper just to stay home with LO.

  • I work full time as a firefighter/paramedic. I work 24 hour shifts every third day. With my twin pregnancy last year I worked until the shift before my induction date at 38 weeks. I plan to do the same with this pregnancy.

  • I'm a mortgage loan officer. I'll most likely take 6-8 weeks off and then go back.
  • I'm a family practice physician assistant. I work 3 days a week and stay home with my son the other 2 days. I worked full time before my first. I will stay at 3 days a week,or maybe cut down to 2 days one week and 3 the next. We have no disability at work,so i can take the 12 weeks of FMLA, and I'm requesting one extra month. • Well I'm a Microbiologist but we have recently moved to Germany so I doubt I'll be working before we have our little love bug.
  • I'm a master student in hotel and tourism leadership. Hopefully I'll finish my master thesis by June. Plan to get a job sometime during 2016
  • I work in a daycare and this this is out first! Sadly I will only be able to take 6 weeks off and it's all unpaid. But I'm hoping that the hubby and I will be able to keep the baby out if daycare for longer than that. I love my job but it makes me nervous taking such a small baby ti a center.
  • I am an IT project manager. We are new to the state we are currently in so have out worries about when this baby arrives.
  • I'm a blogger and a mommy. I have two little girls who will be 5 and 3 in March.

I started blogging a few years ago; I'm hoping I'll be able to keep going once baby # 3 arrives.
Mom to Riley, Caroline, and Baby # 3 due 10/11/15!

I'm a server/bartender in an upscale restaurant, but start my new position in event planning next week! I work for a high end resort and am very much looking forward to more desk work vs. "Floor" work. I will also be obtaining my sommelier certification early next year (put on hold due to our little surprise!!!!) I get un paid leave as well. Booooo US...
  • I'm a preschool teacher!!! I love "my" kiddos, I'll probably just work as an aid next school year, we start in August and then be done once baby comes. Hubby and I are moving around January so I'm hoping I can at least stay at home until we get settled in our new state, maybe be a SAHM forever!!
  • I am a radiological technologist, I take CT scans. My job is very active and physical and there isn't much sit down time. Compression socks and good shoes will be my best friends over the next few months. I luckily haven't had morning sickness yet, thank goodness. So it's been pretty easy to keep the pregnancy quiet--I plan to tell my supervisor at the 2nd trimester. I'm very lucky, my job offers 12 weeks of maternity time, and it is paid if you have enough time (which I do since I've been working there for 5 years). So I plan to take advantage of those full 12 weeks! I think it will be very hard to go back after, but, my husband just graduate from law school and is currently looking for a job. So my income is necessary to help pay back student loans and bills. I'm very excited!
  • I'm a Zamboni driver.
Really! DH's parents own the local ice rink and we are hoping to take it over when they retire.
I also do office work there and other odd jobs. But driving the zamboni is the best part.

@badwolfofNNY - I am insanely jelly!  The Zamboni is my favorite part of going to hockey games, no joke! very cool :)

I'm a media buyer - I buy advertising time (commercials) on television and radio for cable networks promoting their shows.  I fell into through a friend of a friend and have been doing it for over 10 years!

  • I hope to take 10 weeks with my first baby.
  • Dance teacher/choreographer. I might really need assistants help towards the end! Esp if i cant get up off the floor lol
  • Hi ladies, I'm a chiropractor in a group practice. I only work 3.5 days and I plan on going back pretty quickly with a modified schedule and back to regular hours the 1st of the year.
  • I'm a store manager for a retail store. That's the only stress my hubby and I have is figuring out what to do when baby comes ! We are blessed to have great paying jobs and I know God will make a way :)
  • I'm a research scientist in a tech company, and will resume work after ~8 weeks.

  • I own a small biz and work from home, which is a good thing and a bad thing -- figuring out how to find balance and make this work has been on my mind a  LOT.  I think I'll pass the reins to my hubby around the start of September, and then try to ease into things again in January.  Right now I work probably 50 hours a week; post-baby when I return to work after the new year I'll probably aim for max 20 hours a week. But again,it's all kind of up in the air with how to make this work...!
  • I am a registered nurse, I have 2 jobs, one full time at our hospital taking care of critically ill patients and a part time job doing home health. I know I'll have to slow down the further along I get but I figure it's better to work all I can and save for baby.
