LO was up every hour last night aswell. By the time I would go in his room he would fall back asleep. Nevertheless, it still wakes me up and I have to put myself back to sleep. Despite the many wake ups, he only needed to feed at 6:30 so there's that...

I had one wake up around 12. Let her play with dad and grandma which was probably a bad idea but they haven't seen her all day. I put her back down after feeding and changing she only cried for 10 min then was off to lala land. She woke up again during the night idk what time but she didn't make a sound I just happened to check and saw her staring at me. Now wake up at 7.
A question about CIO: When sleep training, if baby wakes up at 5:30 am, and "wake up" time is 7, do you let him cry? Also, do you still feed in the MOTN?
Yes, I would. I am choosing to still do MOTN feedings. I just fed her and then laid her back down. She most definitely cried every time I laid her down. I did give up at 4 this morning because I accidentally fell asleep while nursing.
What was the deal last night?? I also thought we were getting a good place. It all went to hell last night and now I'm bumping from bed with LO because I caved and brought her to our bed at 6:30. Happily for me she actually fell back asleep.
Also if anyone is interested, sweet potatoes before bed make babies poop.

Dealing with same thing here! I decided if she wakes up before 4 or 5, she needs to self soothe, but after that, I'll feed.

Same! Although generally that's how it already is. When he cries before 4 his eyes are still closed and he's whining mostly but after 4, his eyes are usually wide open and he's actually crying and so I know he wants to eat.
Don't think I'll be upping his oz yet though, he spits up way too much and I'm having a hell of a time getting him to burp.

Good - LO slept through the night last night. Only one wakeup the previous night, too. Before this he was waking several times a night. He's also been sleeping better during the day - yay for daytime sleep consolidation, finally!
Now I need to get him to go to bed way earlier. He didn't go down until 1:30 am last night and this is typical. I'm going to try waking him up earlier and keeping naps at 2 hrs or less, see how that goes. Problem is, when you think he will go to bed, he just takes a cat nap instead so he can stay up longer. Anyone else have a baby doing this?
Also have to transition to the crib still.

Haha, i always walk in his room annoyed and grouchy looking by the 3rd-4th wake up and if he's awake and ready to eat he stops crying when he sees me to give me a huge smile. I just melt, pick him up and say I'll throw myself off the balcony tomorrow instead.

It's really hard for me to read this thread. I'm absolutely failing at this sleep thing. I'm either super jealous or feel like a failure when reading the posts. We have not had a single night of sleep. The most I got is one hour. I have tried everything.

In a specific place or is he not sleeping anywhere?

He will only sleep on us in the glider. He used to, from both to 2 1/2months, sleep in the bed with us and only wake up every two or three hours to eat then fall back asleep. At first I thought it was recovering from a cold and jet lag then I thought sleep regression but now I'm stumped. Can babies be scared of the dark or have night terrors? It's like after an hour he freaks out no matter where he is. I even tried formula at night to see if it was a hunger thing.

I'm so sorry! Have you tried a night light? When we put one in it did help a little bit. At least it kept her sleeping in our bed for a couple hours.
Last night was rough. I just want this kid to sleep. I also want to get her out of the swaddle. I think I have a good idea of the different ways I could go about that but as to a timeline I'm not sure. Any thoughts? Should I basically just go into it with low expectations? Last time I tried she (and I) slept terribly for two nights and I finally just swaddled her again. We have a lot of sleep issues but I think I'll start with that one haha

Personally, I wouldn't rush it. My LO literally picked a day and said f this swaddle, I'm done with it. And we just dropped it entirely. She's still not STTN but she sleeps as well as she did when swaddled (most nights)
The Zipadee Zip worked great for us at nap times. She used to get 1-2 hour naps in her crib with it. Now, I just use it as an extra layer to keep her warm.
This week has gone much better. I'm letting him sleep in the rock n play in the evening from about 7-10:30 until I'm getting ready for bed and then I get him up, change his diaper and give him a bottle and then I put him in his crib. He slept through the whole night one night and then the rest of the week we just had one wake up around 2:30-3. The rock n play for the whole night was just not working out very well anymore because I don't think he was very comfortable and he always ended up in bed with me and he would kick and squirm and I still didn't get any sleep. I tried putting him down in his crib right off the bat but I think he doesn't sleep as soundly in there and I think the rest of us still up moving around is what keeps waking him up. So, this seems like a nice balance....for now, until he changes again.
Yeah! I'm digging the positivity! I think tonight is going to be a great night! I just got my kid down and we're rocking a bit more than usual in the hopes that her dad and I can enjoy some uninterrupted time from now till we go to bed. I can also smell dinner. A hot meal coming my way!
@Kandreas1 I completely understand. We held off on any CIO methods until now since she is at least 5 months. I don't feel that great about it but I have tried everything else.
@Kandreas1 we're in the middle of our first wake up. 2 hours after falling asleep. I hear ya on not wanting to do CIO. My LO was born on the 23rd so I also feel like it's too early and I'm happy to hear you agree. We have decided to give her 5 minutes at every wake up and if she doesn't fall back asleep we intervene and do whatever we need to. The only thing I don't do is nurse her until it's been at least 6 hours since her last feeding. I want her learning to eat more during the day and not during the night. DH is up bouncing her now and her screams sound so pitiful! It's so strange! Almost like she's in the midst of a terrible nightmare even though she's being squeezed tight by her daddy.
Yes but not when she's crying. You have to hold it in and get her to stop crying by bouncing and then she'll keep it in and be content. Let's just say DH and I have some strong leg muscles...
@Kandreas1 I try and feed her right after a nap so she's still a little groggy. Other than that, yep- she pops on and off to look at her daddy, look at the dogs, check the ceiling out, hang upside down, etc etc. I think she's still getting enough calories in that I'm not concerned about making her wait 6 hours at night. She also will not go back to sleep if she's hungry so if she keeps waking up over and over and over I will cave and feed her but so far since I made this "rule" that hasn't been an issue. It's more for me so I don't cop out and feed her to get her down easier when it's 2am and I'm tired. Haha. She's sleeping again now so this wasn't a terrible wake up after all

@jamjoyful I thought about that as well. Or the Merlin's magic sleep suit.
Good luck everyone! Maybe we will all get more sleep tonight!
So, do you use CIO to lessen nighttime feedings?
ETA: spoke too soon. She just started crying. I hate this CIO stuff. Why won't she let me rock her and then lay her down and stay asleep?!
How are you doing so far?
