I screen my calls at work. Like, if I don't recognize the number or I don't want to talk to that person/business, I let it go to voicemail.

And then it may be 2 days later when I actually check it.

My former boss had a vendetta against certain departments and refused to take their phone calls.  Then when they inevitably called me (I was her assistant) she's come over to my desk and say "Don't you take that phone call!"

For whatever reason our overarching supervisor let her get away with it.

Eh, you do what you gotta do to get through the day I suppose ;)

  • This isn't juicy but I will feel better just saying it -- I totally suck at the whole healthy pregnancy thing. I don't smoke or drink, and I do take PNV's most days... But that's about it. The "zomg will X hurt the baby!?" thought *never* crosses my mind. Diet Coke? Yes please. Fancy Cakes/brownies/cheese balls/Wendy's every other night? Hell YES.

Veggies? Fruit? All the protein? Calcium supplement? Exercise? Omega 3's? Not happening.

I mean ... So I exercised thru 1st tri & recently started again, but 2nd tri I was on my ass. And around mid-pregnancy I did start having salmon 1x/week... but - ugh. Veggies? Protein? Not happening. I suck.

This is me this time around. I'm actually bummed that my coworker bailed on me for sushi lunch and I really don't want to leave the office by myself. I ordered Jimmy John's instead. I have also sucked at taking my PNVs since first tri.

  • I have had 2 kids, but have never been in labor... and after birth class last night, all of my old birthing fears resurfaced and I'm totally feeling like a RCS wouldn't be the worst thing in the world (planning a VBA2C).

I don't take prenatal vitamins... or any vitamins for that matter. I couldn't stomach them with the HG, and then I just forgot. Found the bottle yesterday. Eh... a good diet counts for something, right??

  • I've let my son veg out to cartoons for the last almost week because 1. He will inevitably fall asleep and 2. I will also get a nap. Win win right?

@chilibeansm0m‌ We always watch Idol. It's a sickness. I totally cried last night over the little girl singing "Let it go".

Also, I like circus peanuts. Those orange, spongy candies are my crack! Nobody but DD1 agrees with me.

I used to love American Idol until they made it all about the judges.  This was during the Mariah Carrey/Nicki Minaj season.  It seemed like the whole show focused on their bickering and one-upping rather than the contestants themselves.

Plus during that season the editing got me all attached to like, 5 contestants who never ended up making it to the top 10 :( and then when I watched the ones selected I had no idea who they were because they didn't focus on their stories.

    Has it gotten any better?

  • Mmm, circus peanuts!!! It is my new mission to locate some of these delicious sugary bombs of tastiness!
  • @mel7806 - See, that's the other problem I've had with the show!  I hate that they make the contestants sing a specific genre each week and give them a limited number of songs.  A singer who is skilled with ballads may suck at pop.  And the singer who has mastered country may not be able to sing the blues.  I wish they'd cultivate each singer's specific genre and let it flourish.  Some do indie really well, others do jazz, gospel, blues, etc.  But when you force them to pick from one out of 13 approved Beatles songs... eh.  It just gets boring, especially since 2 or 3 of them will pick the same song.

I dunno, I guess I've just lost interest.  I also miss Simon and wish they'd do more funny bloopers but I guess people got upset because it was bordering on cruel at times.  Oh, well, I have my other shows to watch this winter :) I'm eagerly waiting for Orange is the New Black to come back in time with the arrival of our babies!

  • I stopped taking my prenatal vitamins a month or two ago because they make me so sick. I've been taking DHA and eating very healthy, but I still feel guilty. Especially after last night at my prenatal class when the instructor told us we should be taking them until we stop breastfeeding. I guess I should suck it up and get back on them...
  • I've called my doctor 3 times this week asking stupid questions about symptoms that I know are normal. I feel bad wasting their time, but it makes me feel better to have that reassurance. Oh well...I figure that is what I am paying them for. I also ate an entire bag of fun size candy bars this week.
  • That gown is beautiful! Now I want one of those! This is the one my friend made me- I had a bunch of nurses coming in to check it out too! I made my daughter onsies and headbands to match then another shirt and tutu for her 1st bday party.
  • @wishiwaspreggo I bought a fancy dress too!  That was going to be my confession today.  I bought the Seraphine one like Princess Kate wore, except I got 3/4 length sleeves.  I would never have thought about it except I remember someone on here mentioning it.  I figured I have bought most of my maternity clothes from thredup.com, so it wouldn't hurt to buy one nice, new dress for my shower!

I too am super excited about GoT coming back, just in time for maternity leave!

I'm not familiar with these "nursing gowns" and gowns for labor and stuff... can somebody explain it to me?  What are the features that are good to have in one of these things?  Different types for L&D and postpartum I guess?  What would you normally wear during these times - just some sort of hospital gown?  I think I might want to order something if it wasn't too expensive but I have no idea what to look for....

Yeah the recommendation is to keep taking em through breastfeeding.  Which for me means that I've been taking the suckers since March of 2012 since I went on them before we TTC my son (which was October 2012) since I had heard that building up a baseline before TTC could be beneficial (I also cut back on mercury consumption at that time)  and since we conceived this child while I was still nursing my son.  Have you tried the target up and up pre natal gummies?  They're my go to.  Last time I was at Target actually I saw they are doing a postnatal vitamin...which is interesting.  Only material difference between those and the prenatals was an increase in like 2 vitamins..but I bought em anyways.  Because marketing.

I just bought the Jameson ones that claim to be "easy on the stomach". That's what the pharmacist recommended. If they still bother me I will try to find the ones from Target. I live in Canada though, so we only have a couple of Targets. Thank you!
  • Also, I abolutely cannot wait for GoT either! And True Detective.
  • They are just so much more fun than the ugly standard hospital issue stuff. My friend was going to start making some fun ones to donate to the children's hospital but got too busy at work to do so. This will be my 3rd delivery in my pretty and comfy gown. Mine is just like a hospital gown (has a tie back) but has Velcro on the top sleeves instead of the buttons. Makes nursing much easier. I just take comfy pajamas and lounge clothes for after baby. And flip flops for the shower, can not forget those!!'

Yes. I had no idea what the abbreviation was. I need to get out more.

Know of but have never watched same with SOA and OITNB
My H watches SOA. It's not my cup of tea.
  • I'm too lazy to scroll back up and/or to the previous page to tag the OP's but:

    - I also have weekly pajamas. I shower, so no big, right?
    - I also suck at healthy eating. I pretty much hate anything green.
    - I am on 3 day hair because it's as cold as a witches titty in a brass bra outside and I'm too lazy to get up earlier to blow dry it when I wash it.
    - I don't think I've worn makeup in a month
    - None of my shoes fit anymore so I've got 2 varieties of "work slippers" that I wear that pass as normal looking shoes until a close inspection.
    - I've been on pelvic rest since week 19, and bed rest periodically since the same week and I swear to god, if allowed, I would totally call off of work to have sex ALL DAY. I can't even watch shows where people kiss and flirt because I get too sad/angry.

Also I've mentally pictured beating the hell out of a couple of my co-workers today. The end.
  • Confession- I've never watched SoA or OITNB either.
  • If I hadn't spilled red wax on my only pair of khaki pants, I would still be wearing them. They were washed on New Years' Eve. I have no shame.
  • Confession: I have been staying up later than everyone in my house just so I can watch the shows I want on TV and indulge in my candy craving since DH and my mom give me such a hard time during waking hours....

Also, SOA is fucking amazing. The day the last episode aired was one of the worst days of my life. Nothing more to look forward to. :((

Anyone know when GoT starts to get really exciting? DH and I left off at the end of season 2 I believe... I had a REALLY hard time getting into it... But everyone else who talks about it says its the cats meow. Maybe I just need to try harder.

  • I've been staying up until like 2 in the morning every night for the past week bc insomnia... But my kid has been staying up with me. :(
I don't know what I would do if DH didn't put DS to bed and let me have some chill out time at the end of the day... I can't imagine staying up with him until 2 in the morning. I would probably die.
  • @katydid2014 I went back and stalked your post in the randoms yesterday and you look great!  I love this dress!  So cute and comfortable!

^^^ me too. All of it. Plus I didn't respond to a few emails today because I don't feel like filtering for the stupid. Plus I am about to buy a pretty labor gown or two, spend way too much money on crib bedding, and am tempted to buy the matching curtains for $400. Which is just stupid since all of the curtains I bought for my house are still in the packaging almost 3 years later.

  • Confession: I hate SOA. The female characters are imo crap. I mean the main characters wife is a surgeon and she keeps getting herself into trouble/prison/dead over a delinquent motorcycle gang and a husband who repeatedly cheats on her. I want to scream 'get some self esteem lady!' Wtf.
  • @chilibeansm0m‌ you don't know who Harry Conick (sp) JR is?

Mmm, I love Harry Connick, Jr. But he's a New Orleans boy and I'm a Louisiana girl. Gotta love that accent, although I don't think I know anyone who speaks like that in real life.
  • @chilibeansm0m‌ you don't know who Harry Conick (sp) JR is?

No mam. I suck i know.
I recommend checking him out if you like standards. Think a Southern Michael Buble (although Harry has been around a lot longer). He also acts. I think he's on Law and Order now?
