    I know a lot of people have started putting their LO's in the bumbo seat.  I put S in something similar and he just lets his head flop back.  He has awesome head control on his stomach (he now just holds his head up automatically like it's nothing) and when I'm holding him, so the head flopping back really surprised me.  Not sure if I should be concerned?
    No, I don't think so. It probably just has to do with the ergonomics of the seat. Mine gets a little floppy with his head in the bumbo too, and he's got great head control.
    Ok that makes me feel better.  sitting is actually one of his favorite things right now - he sits on the couch like a big boy all the time, so I was shocked when he just flopped!

    Every time someone posts about not hearing baby on the monitor, I'm jealous of their big house. I assume it must be big, or at least have soundproof walls, or something. We don't use a monitor. You can hear the baby in her room from anywhere in the house unless you're taking a shower.
    We don't have a big house, but we do have sheet rock walls. Plus the baby's room is down the hall and around the corner from our room. Her room is like the cone of silence as long as the door is shut. We have to keep the door shut thanks to our nosy cats.
    Have you thought about a screen door? We put one up on the nursery door to keep our dogs out. It is so nice. Just a cheapo no frills screen door.
    My friend also did this because her cat was abnoxious about wanting to sleep with the baby.
    We have to keep the nursery door closed as well - we have thought about putting up the screen door as well but haven't pulled the trigger yet.  We have had several people recommend this.   We have a large very affectionate male cat that loves to try and sleep on my head and will often sleep on H's chest. I am afraid he will try to sleep on DD's head so we can't let the cats in her room.

  • For those having a rough patch w tummy time-- mine loved it the first month--she'd be down for like 20 min! Now she hates it--but yesterday I propped her up on the boppy and she seemed much more comfortable. Maybe give that a shot?

    @andrieya

    Mine loves tummy time, just won't hold his head up in a seat!! :(  I used the boppy for a bit, but stopped because I felt like it did something for his neck, but that he didn't pick his chest up nearly as often as when he's on the floor.  We sometimes do a mix of both.

    Oddly, his FAVORITE place to do tummy time is his changing mat.  I swear it's his favorite place in the world.

  • @PurpleHippo19‌ happy birthday!

    @golfingdarwinfish‌ We use the mamas and papas seat (similar to the bumbo but supposedly fits chubby legs longer) and even though DD has awesome head control, i think it's just hard to have the torso control and the head control going on at once. We have been using her high chair instead, which slightly reclines (not nearly as much as a bouncer) so it's easier for her to "sit up" and she can still look around and use her head, but doesn't have to use her torso muscles as much.

    She is a late October baby though so usually a few weeks behind everyone else!

    @andrieya‌ dd loves tummy time in the boppy! We usually get 15-20 minutes a day on the boppy but I still try and have her do it on the floor once because I feel like she uses her arms more.

    Meh, it was a mild telling off. Unless I just blocked it out. I don't even remember. I was too busy being terrified that I broke the boards with my 907 bitchy UOs in a row.

    And, probably not. APurp only sits in there for a wee bit. She's still pretty floppy. Something I read said not to even try it until 4 months. I only tried it because others on the board were, and I was like "yeah, this bitch isn't even TRYING."

  • @purplehippo19  Happy birthday!! Hope you get to enjoy some special family time in celebration!

    @apk4 so sorry to hear about your boss :( Hope he recovers quickly

    @breandmikewedding that really sucks!  Have you voiced your concerns to the attending?  They should focus more on your LO and less on how much time you are spending in there with him.

    @kfitzguerra major hugs to you today lady.  Sorry it's such a rough day :( is there anyway you can get some help over the weekend so you can just check out for a bit?

    @vrj0522 It's awesome that your son is already bilingual!

    @spurp13 I don't think there's anything wrong with MIL taking her for the vaccine.  My pedi told me that she often has nannys bring the LOs for vaccines, as long as the parents have authorized the vax prior to the nanny showing up.

    @Spurp13  Plated is great also!

    I'll look into Plated, because we were just talking about how we want to try a few out for funzies. I mean, I can't rave about BlueApron enough. I'm still thinking about the beef and collard green stew over grits. WHUUUT. And the portions are huge and all under 600.

    I think my husband is going to take her. I asked my MIL if I was a terrible person if I didn't go. She said no, but she also would steal my baby away if she could, so her answer is biased. This goes along with my UO yesterday of parents being too attached--well the opposite of that is sometimes I feel like I'm not attached enough? Like, I feel like I should want to be there when my baby has her shots. But she's a tough broad, and I trust my MIL? So? Meh?

  • Last night I had a low tire, so my husband went to put air in it, but none of the gas station pumps were working, so he took a while trying to find a pump that worked. I was with a fussy APurp, that will stop crying when she's like this only if you do laps around the kitchen island. I like to make up songs when I do so, so to the tune of "Domino," I was singing "whhhheeeere's your daddio, daddio? He's not, not coming home, coming home."

    Fun mother? Or embarassing mother?
    Yesterday, K had a bit of a diaper rash so I was letting that area air out for a bit before I put diaper cream on it. I sang "let it free, let it free, just don't pee on me! Let it free, let it free. The greatest way to be. Here I stand in the light of day, let the breeze rage on. Being naked never bothered me anyway." Fun mom or embarrassing mom?
    I love you so hard right now.

    If her other shots hadn't gone well, I'd go. But she didn't even flinch, and all she did was sleep afterwards. So I'm encouraged.

  • @erawka 25 ounces? That's an entire days worth of bm...holy overfeeding. I would be pissed. Are they doing paced bottle feeding? Are they trying to soothe baby in ways other than just feeding her more milk? I fired my first dcp for overfeeding dd1 (6 ounces at one feeding; 17 ounces in 7.5 hours) among other issues. I would def have a talk with them and make sure they know how to bottle feed a bf baby..

    DS is bilingual so he is slightly behind in language skills although still in the range of normal... anyway, his way of asking who someone is is "what's that?" Need to work on that one, especially in public.
    Question, how did you handle speaking to your DS do you switch back and forth or do each parent speaks a language? I only speak spanish to DD but when I am with DH I switch to english to be able to communicate with him.
    I do the same; one language from each parent. It's less confusing for kids and they don't mix up the 2 languages as easily. DH doesn't speak Spanish so I need to switch to English to speak to him. However, I always address DS in Spanish.
    Im jealous you can teach LO two languages. My nephew is speaking Mandarin and English. I call it Chenglish.
    lol, that's pretty funny. Since I am bilingual, there is no way I am letting that die. It's too much work to learn another language to not pass it on to my children.
    When I was reading this, I was all sorts of jealous. Your kids are gonna be so smart! I took like 5 years of spanish. I wish I could speak it. It just doesn't click in my brain. I'm doing ok with sign language, though.

    I think I was one to do a love tit but it wasn't because she told you off, although I agree with SPurp that it was pretty mild. I was more agreeing with the fact that there is plenty of flaming that can happen and doesn't because after a year we are a lot more familiar with each other. There's been times that I've been waiting to get flamed and it doesn't happen. I think people just like playing nice now for the most part because of familiarity and to keep the peace with each other; but an outsider coming in or someone who rarely posts is a lot more likely to get flamed.
