Bilateral MCDK

I am just curious to know if there are any other mommies out there whose baby was diagnosed with bilateral MCDK. We found out at 22 weeks and were told that if we make it full term our baby girl would only live for a few hours before passing. I am also curious to know how often you feel your baby moving around? Just looking for anyone else going through this or even carrying a baby full term that they are saying will not make it once you give birth.

I've never heard of this and I'm very sorry for what you are facing.  I did lose my son at 20 weeks in my last pregnancy, but even that is nothing like what you will face.  I'm sorry I don't have more advice to give.

I did want to let you know you may find some good support and advice on the loss boards.

However, please don't see this as a way to push you off on another board.  You are more than welcome to stay here as long as you want, I just want you to have all of the options for support that this community can give you.

    ((Hugs))
  • I am so so sorry you are facing this. I have no experience with full term issues, but my heart goes out to you. ((Hugs))

  • No experience with this but my T&P are with you and your family. I'm very sorry you are going through this. Hugs >:D<
  • No experience but sending lots of love and prayers.
  • I do know that my cousin was diagnosed in utero with multi cystic or polycystic kidneys but not dysplastic. She was followed the entire pregnancy and was expected to be very ill if she lived to birth. Somehow, the cysts all resolved by the time of her birth. There is actually a medical journal study done on her. She is now a healthy 8 year old. Not sure if that helps or not.
  • I'm so sorry.
  • I have no experience, but I'm so sorry you're going through this. ((Hugs)) You and your family will be in my thoughts.
  • No experience but sending T&Ps to you and your family.
  • I am so sorry your sweet baby was given that diagnosis. I don't have experience with that specific diagnosis but my last child was given a fatal diagnosis and we carried him to term. It was the best decision I ever made. If you have specific questions or just want to chat I am available.
  • Although I have no experience with this, I wanted to say how truely sorry I am that you have to go through this. So many thoughts and prayers to you and your family.
  • Sending huge hugs to you & your family. I'm sorry this is happening & hope your time with your LO is peaceful & sweet.
  • Breaks my heart to read this. I will be sending so much love and thoughts to your family and hoping that the time you do have with your LO is beautiful. I hope you are able to find some support and peace in all of this.
  • I am so sorry. Sending hugs and thoughts and prayers your way.

  • Oh I am so sorry to hear this. That is a very sad diagnosis. I have not personally been pregnant with a child with this, but I have seen it in my work. The fetus can still be active inside the womb. Again so sorry

As PP mentioned the Loss board is full of ladies that have unfortunately had later term losses. I don't know if it's appropriate for you to post there while pregnant so I would encourage you to reach out to the moderator via PM before introducing yourself.

Last I checked OP was reading the comments, and even if she's not and someone else in a similar position is, I just wanted to say that I double checked on the mod board before making the referral to the loss boards and the consensus is that it's ok to post now but please add a siggy warning if you have a ticker or anything else referencing your pregnancy.

Thank you! I wasn't sure and didn't want to send her somewhere prematurely.
