@NaChelleBeck I'm glad he's going to be ok. Like I said in an earlier post both boys had croup a month ago. One required a trip to the hospital, the other urgent care. Swelling of the larynx (what croup is) can be very dangerous in little kids since their airways are so small. With both boys it came on suddenly too. The steroid should help. They gave both boys steroids and their coughs stopped immediately. I hope it works that quickly in your little one too!
Nora had her two month shots today- she was a beast! Didn't even flinch after the first one- like not a tear or anything! And then one little whelp from the second one and she was good. I think she's a super hero!
@cl8badb did you buy pull ups or the slip on diapers? I don't think pull ups are very absorbent and are probably not a good idea unless you are fully potty training. I think Huggies also make "slip on" diapers that are a real diaper but with the sides already done up so you can pull them on and off like underwear.
@megsw85, don't beat yourself up. You'll know for next time to keep him home a little longer. It's tough because he really wanted to go and said he was feelings well (I'm assuming acting well too). Hope he's feeling better now.
@Michelin82 I've been browsing for daycare gift ideas as well. I only have half as many teachers to buy for, but our budget is really tight (thanks daycare!).
Peeking in regarding Christmas/Hanukkah/Santa cause @mcbush told me about the discussion. So here's my 2 cents... which will probably seem like a lot more. Lol.
I was born to a Jewish Momma and a Catholic Dad. My husband was baptized Catholic, but raised Presbyterian. My stepfather is Irish Catholic, my stepmom is Protestant and my SIL is I'm not exactly sure except it sounds a lot like what @Flerlgirl is (Christian denomination).
I grew up celebrating allllll the holidays. My dad's mom brought me to church with her a lot, and I loved it. I went to synogauge on Rosh Hashana and that was it. We always went to the kids service. I fell into Judaism in college and chose to follow that faith for myself, however because of my family ties, the other traditions of my family are done and I participate because that's what works for me and my family.
Anyway. We are raising A Jewish, with a strong understanding of the other faiths in her family, which includes bringing her to church, taking part in family holiday meals, etc. So, in our house, we celebrate "Santa" Christmas and "Bunny" Easter. The tree, stockings, and Santa are done because : I believe that giving kids things like Santa, the tooth fairy, etc lead them into believing in things we cannot see, such as G-d. I believe G-d works through us to "answer prayers" and so I think using these characters helps with the overall teaching of faith.
Present wise. (and a little less deep thought!). A is getting a few small items for Hanukkah (a wooden menorah toy, a hanukah book, and little Maccabee figures), and the want/wear/need/read +1 gift from "Santa". She's getting a stocking with a few treats to go with her "want" gift too.

The reason I ask is the last 3 days I have been dizzy and nauseous off and on, I have had a mild cold. I think its my sinuses but I am wondering now if I have the flu, but a milder case becuase I got the flu shot.
I am glad you are feeling better.
I got my flu shot back in September I think. Pretty early. It could have been a milder case of the flu.
@mcbush if I waited I'd be broke. Everything I see I WANT I mean... she wants. Lol. I'm using it partially to curb my desire to give her everything every second. Plus simple... less clean up. And I was done shopping two weeks ago. Hehehe! Her "need" gift this year is a potty seat and her "wear" is cloth diaper training pants.

Yes. The jammies are a must. We have white ones with penguins in santa hats. Penguins need hats no matter their religion. Lol.
Her "Christmas" dress is my 2nd Christmas dress. My grandmother was a seamstress and made all my holiday attire so... I won't have to buy any until she's about 10. Or she completely grows differently than me in which case I will cry because there's something awesome about not having to find the perfect thing in stores.

@momofcatan - sure, I'll start a new one. Sorry, I didn't think it would be a problem to post it in here!
Definitely not a problem! When I see a general topic where the answers will be useful to a lot of people, I feel bad that people who can't keep up with spam won't get to see the responses.

I think she just was thinking it would be great to have all the ideas in one place, since people are being so fun and creative - not that it didn't belong here.
For those of you with LOs in daycare, will you be giving Christmas gifts? If so, how many teachers do you have to buy for? Between my two boys, I have more than 10 teachers. That really limits what I can spend per gift! My friend shared this with me and I thought it was cute. Thought I'd pass it along!
We have two main teachers plus her age level supervisor. I will also be doing for the afternoon floater she's had since she started. The full time teachers are getting crochet hats, plus a baked treat & maybe something else small A "makes". The afternoon girl I haven't figured out... most likely a crochet cowl, a skein of yarn and a crochet hook (she's mentioned wanting to learn).

That is awesome!!! I wish I could sew ::kicks dirt::
I'm really trying to learn how to sew. I made R and my costumes this year. MIL made A's. Well... the outfit. I made the hat and accoutrements. My grandmother worked for Priscilla of Boston. She made Tricia Nixon and LBJ's daughter's gowns. Sigh. Why was I such an angsty teen who didn't just sit at her feet and learn everything?!

@megsw85 we need to move in together so we have someone to help with kids when things come up since our hubby's are always away. Big hugs momma. Keep us updated on the T man.
I saw and have been making some things for A. I really like making her smocked dresses. Smocking is definitely a rare skill these days, but I have fun doing it. I'm saving the scraps from dresses I've made her and I'm going to make her a quilt with them when she gets older. I'm almost finished with her Christmas dress! I'll post a pic when I'm done.
I think I've mentioned this to you before- but I LOVE smocked dresses! My mom is a seamstress and made my sister and I about a million smocked dresses. I am going over there tomorrow to raid her stash for Nora. @sctiger please post a pic when you are done- I would love to see it!!
