It's only a 2 day work week for me because I took off Wednesdsy and have Thursday/Friday for Thanksgiving, so I'm excited about that. Sunday is DS' birthday (my baby is turning 2!), so I'm making Mickey Mouse cupcakes like this on Wednesday, plus a broccoli salad to take to Thanksgiving.
I can't believe it's almost December - what is happening?!
@Crazymonkeybear, my parents and ILs live within 2.5 hours of each other (my parents 30 min south of us and ILs 2 hours north), so unfortunately we end up driving to both every holiday. With yours, I would definitely alternate Thanksgiving with one, Christmas with the other, and swap every year. Of course this year will be different with you being pregnant. Hopefully your FI would be understanding about that!
FYI- Rude shoppers don't care if you have a big baby belly. I got bumped and shoved just as much as usual.
So true! I can't stand when people try to shove through other while shopping when I'm not pregnant, but I really can't stand when they bump my bump and act like nothing happened. Seriously, give some space!
I love Target and Costco! They are both places I walk out of and think "How in the world did I spend that much money?"
I have my son's first preschool conference is today!! I am so nervous to be sitting on the other side of the table. My husband is afraid that I might play the teacher but I'm secretly afraid that I might cry!

It is pouring up here! At least it will be 64. I have some shipping to do, a bit of listing, off to work after (back is killing me!), then the market again for something for dinner and call the hospital and schedule my 3 hour for tomorrow AM. Kids have a 3 day week here and I have a normal 6-7 day week.
Ain't no rest for the wicked. Money don't grow on trees.
Morning ladies and a happy short week to most! I work just 3 days this week but only have two days of scheduled sessions and then a day floating in a satellite clinic, which I loved last week! Hopefully it will fly by. And I'm at the back of the pack with my EDD but as of today I'm 8 weeks from my RCS!! Woohoo, come on January!
I am super excited. My house is an unmitigated disaster since I haven't been able to clean since I got pregnant. I'm having cleaning ladies come next week to organize and clean the whole house from top to bottom! Squeeee!
Short work week for me! We aren't going anywhere for either holiday this year. My husband isn't big on family (very strange to me but whatever) and has no idea why I always want to spend time with my family on the holidays. Well my baby is going to know my family and I will make that a priority as for his I will try for his parents everyone else he doesn't care about so I'll leave it up to him if we ever go see them.
Also, last night my husband and I decided to go to Costco. When we got there, we realized it was the weekend before Thanksgiving, and that we were basically walking into World War III. It was ugly. Also, they didn't have bagels. How do you not have bagels?!
FYI- Rude shoppers don't care if you have a big baby belly. I got bumped and shoved just as much as usual.
OMG, Costco on any weekend is bad, but the weekend before Thanksgiving is probably one of the worst. Sorry people bumped and shoved you. I hope you gave them the evil eye.
Change of plans - DS threw up during the night, and I changed the sheets and put him back to bed, and then I was going to send him to DC because he didn't have a fever and was still acting fine. I got all ready for work and had the car loaded up, and then I went to get him, and he had thrown up again, so I'm staying home with him.
I guess my 2 day work week just turned into a 1 day work week. I hope his sickness passes quickly and doesn't get passed on to me or DH because I definitely don't want him or anyone else being sick over the holiday and his birthday weekend!
Wasn't sure whether to put this in Monday Bitchfest or here. I wasn't offended, just taken back by a comment a complete stranger made to me in the cafeteria at work this morning.
I was minding my own business getting my second breakfast when this adorable older gentleman wearing a Korean War Vet hat comes up to me and says "I'm sorry ma'am, but there are no basketballs allowed in the cafeteria" and motions to my belly. Normally I don't like it when people reference how round my belly is so it hit me a little hard, but his tone of voice and facial expression totally softened the blow. Preggo hormones made me want to hug him because he reminded me of my late grandfather. Then logic took over and I just told him I was sorry but he'd have to wait until after Christmas for me to stop bringing basketballs to the cafeteria.
All you lucky ladies who get short weeks! I only have Thursday off :-( At least I get turkey day!
I felt like a piece of roller food last night. Left side, stomach, ride side, back, repeat about 30 times. I just couldn't get comfortable. Oh and I get to take DD for her 4y shots today. Oh joy.
I'm insanely tired today and I'm cranky about being at work. After the weekend-long birthing class, I had really weird dreams about going into labor. In one of them, there was a huge snowstorm. Ugh.
I'm also calling my OB today because this random pain I've had for weeks now has gotten pretty bad and I'm convinced it's a hernia. If it is, from what I can tell online, there isn't really anything I can do for it, which sucks, but I just want to confirm that it's not dangerous for the baby (I don't think it is), and also that I wont have issues pushing when I'm in labor. That's what I'm most scared about.
OK it's time for some serious coffee. Have a good day everyone.
Ok three days - I can do this! Of course it's three days at work then one Thanksgiving, one travel day, second Thanksgiving, travel day and then back to work - well that doesn't sound very relaxing at all - but turkey and stuffing and pie make it all better.
All you lucky ladies who get short weeks! I only have Thursday off :-( At least I get turkey day!
This reminds me: I get a lot of random press release emails and I got one the other day from PETA encouraging me to make my newscasts more inclusive by not referring to it as "turkey day" and instead saying "tofurkey day." Apparently when the news says turkey day vegetarians and vegans cry a little inside (can my vegetarians amd vegans verify this? PETA seemed adamant).
Weirdest email ever.
It actually does irk me a bit that Thanksgiving is referred to as "Turkey Day." Thanksgiving is about being thankful, and the fact that there happens to be a dead bird on the table doesn't mean that the day should be about the dead bird. I do NOT agree with PETA that it should be called "Tofurkey day." HAHA. Just call it Thanksgiving! That's what it is!
What do people eat on Christmas? Ham? Would you call Christmas "Pig Day"?
Thanks, @peggels24! He asked to go back to bed (very unusual for him) and is sleeping now, so hopefully the extra rest will be good. On the bright side, I saved gas money and DC money today by working from home, and I can change back into my pajamas.
We've got a lot of driving over the holidays too. It won't be so relaxing, but at least it'll be good family time and food.
I swear the traffic and horrible drivers in my area is going to cause me to go into labor early! I almost immediately start contracting when I leave my neighborhood!! I am so ready for Wednesday to have a few days off!
3 day work week for me too. I've started organzing all of my stuff to prep for Mat leave and it's making me seriously excited. Everytime someone at work pisses me off I just smile and think "no worries bro, I'm outta here in 2 months!"
Thanksgiving, to me, isn't about the turkey at all, despite me calling it Turkey Day at times. It's all about the sweet potato casserole and the pumpkin pie with ice cream. :-D But I'll definitely have to keep that in mind for my vegetarian friends.
My shower was 10/12 - DH finally put all of the big stuff in the basement yesterday (well except for the car seat and pack n play that we will use right away) - it has been driving him crazy but he hurt his back and leg two days after the shower and hasn't been able to lift anything so he hasn't been able to get anything off of the ground floor. I have a clean dining room now

I've been a vegetarian for 19 years and have called it 'turkey day' myself. PETA is a bunch of extremists. My kids keep telling me how cute turkeys are (I disagree), but they all eat them. They were all vegetarians until about 5 years ago when DH started eating meat again (he really didn't have a choice with the HD).
But, I digress. I'm also a very bad veggie. I love leather shoes and purses….
I want peppermint bark and don't have any. Maybe I should make some. *snort* yeah in between chasing the toddler, grocery shopping, and trying not to die with all these contractions. Yipee. But maybe the bark would make me feel better.
I think I'll make some homemade goodie bags today and peppermint bark is such a good idea to add to them. Want me to ship you some?
We got our bassinet this weekend! It's a gliding bassinet with vibrations and lights and music and a spinning mobile. It was from my favorite local baby/maternity consignment store. It looks pretty much brand new, it has two tiny stains on the ruffle, and we got it for less than half the retail price! I'm very excited. I also got two new pairs of maternity shorts while I was there which is amazing because my one pair stopped fitting several weeks ago and I need shorts when it's still 80+ degrees outside.
Despite my big ol' belly, I managed to shoot some pretty awesome pool this weekend.
Today starts my last week of work! I'm glad for that.
Some jerk stole my debit card information over the weekend. They spent $15 on World of Warcraft. So I got to spend time on the phone with my bank filing the claim and cancelling the card, etc. What a pain. At least that's all they did before I caught it!

peppermint bark is gross. UO? ----------ugh, stupid bump fail------- I'm not a HUGE fan of Peppermint bark, but I definitely don't think it's gross.
Sitting in the OB's office waiting for my appt. I just got done with my ultrasound. Baby is still a girl and they think my placenta has probably moved enough to deliver vaginally. They wanted it at least 2cm away and it's 2.2cm. We'll see what my doctor thinks but so far it looks like I won't have to have a c-section after all!
After this I have to go home and do some speed cleaning since the in laws are coming for a "thanksgiving" dinner later this afternoon.
@Firefly3911 PEPPERMINT BARK omg delicious. That's been one of my top 5 cravings. Last week someone brought peppermint bark oreos into work and I ate as many as I felt I could take while still maintaining politeness boundaries. Which was a lot.
@luckylady18 Sorry you had a rough night! I hope you don't have a hernia and that your day gets better.
So we went to Buy Buy Baby over the weekend and looked at tons of stuff, but didn't actually buy anything. Award for most indecisive couple ever goes to... me and fiance! :-<
I reallllly want that cute Stokke Sleepi mini crib, but it's so pricey. I wish I had like an extra $5k or so to burn.
2 1/2 day week for me too, but I had to take Friday off as a vacation day. One less paid maternity leave day, which sucks, but I don't regret treating myself to a 4-day weekend.
Also my fiance has an interview this morning for a better job... crossing my fingers! He looked so handsome in his suit and tie this morning
I'm putting up my tree today! Super excited. It'll be a sort of test run to see if C pulls it over. God I hope she doesn't.
I'm so jealous of everyone putting up their Christmas stuff. DH wants me to wait until after Thanksgiving but I don't want to. He did pull all the stuff out of the attic, and if I just happen to put it up I doubt he will take it down but if I decorate then I won't have time to make all that bark.
Good Morning ladies! Today is my DH and my 4 year wedding Anniversary! I can't believe that it has been that long. I wanted to go to the melting pot but we decided it would take too long. Instead we are going to the cheesecake factory and I am so excited for the snickers cheesecake again!!!!! :-O
I'm jealous of all of you with thanksgiving off, I work this year again. It use to be my grandma's favorite holiday so I would request it off but ever since she died it's better for me to just work and not think about how I miss her.
Happy anniversary! I'm jealous of the Cheesecake Factory :-D
Sorry to hear about the Thanksgiving thing. I was very close to my grandmother as well so I know how that feels. Sending creepy internet hugs your way.
No short week here I'm kind of sad but don't totally mind since any extra time off would be time alone at home anyway.
@CrazyMonkeyBear- You gotta work out a visitation schedule. Ever since DH and I got married we do alternating holiday's with each family. So this year it's supposed to be Thanksgiving with my family and Christmas with his. Last year it was Christmas with mine and Thanksgiving with his.
Oh, and now the entire office is referring to me as the Grim Reaper because we've fired 2 people in 2 days...I don't even make these decisions people!!

TTC Since 4/13 | Me: 28 DH: 29 | DX: PCOS + High T + Arcuate Uterus (11/13)
@Firefly3911 - You are correct. I'm in HR and I can't explain the (very good) reasons behind the terminations. People just see me either leaving the office that the person crying walks out of or they see me go to the employee's desk to gather their things.
@Lanatir - Seriously, Mother Nature is drunk this week...I don't want to drive in the snow to get to Thanksgiving...

@willcmyink - I'm sorry people are referring to you as the Grim Reaper. It stinks to have to fire someone ANY time. HR doesn't make the firing decisions....people don't get that. I feel ya!

I can't believe it's almost December - what is happening?!
Thanks for the heads up CMB! I'm headed over there right now!
Happy short work week to (most) US ladies for thanksgiving! Today is my Wednesday
I'm calling the OB today to get some ABX for my cold turned sinus infection. Every time I try to blow my nose, my teeth hurt like crazy.
