Anybody else stressing over naming your baby?

Re: Anybody else stressing over naming your baby?

  • I had no troubles with the boy, but i had a lot of difficulty choosing a variation of 'eve' to use. It's a name i've loved for years and years but i just couldn't decide on eve, evie or evangelene! I did have eva on the list but my SO's sister used that name for her now 2 year old so best not to confuse them that much.
After a lot of indecisiveness we ended up choosing the variation and middlename in the same night! Eve Isabelle it is! (If it's a girl, if not i'll use that if i ever have a girl) :)

  • My husband and I can't agree on anything! Ugh. The only name we both kind of like is Mason. I just don't feel like our baby is a Mason if that makes sense. Every time I use that name it just doesn't seem right.

Anyway. I guess I'll tell you both of the boys names O liver and E lliott. They both start with vowels, are three syllables and are very classic names. Alistair kinda fits with them but I'm not in love with Alistair. We've been calling the little one A nsel but I'm not sold on it. I'm basically at square one. Just nothing I love at all. Just hard when I've had the other 2 names picked out since Jr high.. And I'm old! Haha My Jr High self should have picked a 3rd name darn it! I'm open to any suggestions! Thanks!
Ethan, Edward, Owen (personal favorite), Isaac, Andrew, Alex Olivia, Anna, Alice, Amelia, Emily, Elizabeth, Emma I like vowel names too.
Anderson was on my MN list and would sound good with your other boys' names. I also know a sweet french guy named Amaury and I've always loved the name.

So I'm a dummy. DS2 middle name is Anders. I wish I had saved the name for #3 and not have used it, I regret it daily. We didn't know we'd have a 3rd but still....
  • Love love love Anders @JJBoden‌! Though it may be good that you used it as a mn - I love it too but the pronunciation issue (Ahn-ders vs Ann-ders) would probably drive me a bit crazy if I had one or the other in mind. I think you got the best of both worlds: got to use it but avoid frequent butchering!

  • girls name was easy and we just pick a boys name a few weeks ago that we both like. i won't know which name we will be using for another 2 weeks and 5 days

  • Haha yes my boyfriend does the same with the odd names like gerbal or sloog aghhh

Thanks! That helps me feel better too! DH likes it better in the middle name spot too. I just way overthink things and get stressed I made a mistake. Just wish #3 had a name!!
  • Stress is over.. we are having a girl, so it was easy.. A boy would have been the harder part. :) No stress now!
  • As this is my third child, I'm having a hard time in figuring out a name. I will find out if I'm having a son or daughter this tuesday and I'm not sure it will be any less hard to choose a name.
  • I like the name Guy but can't think of a good middle name. It would have to be Spanish. Such as Guy Santiago or Guy Alejandro. Any ideas

I'm also finding it on Tuesday. Hoping for a boy. I have a daughter already.

Those are both great middle names with Guy!!

Naming the third is so so hard... Poor third children of the world! Ha
  • @Tygandre‌ if I named a kid Leeroy I would have the hardest time not saying it the way he does in the video. Video still cracks me up.

For the bilingual thing. My husband is Spanish and kept throwing Spanish names at me for boys... Finally had to put my foot down and say no. I have to be able to pronounce my child's name correctly and of course when my husband says the name it's pretty when I try to it sounds awful. So he gave up. Lol

  • I have the same question. This is my three pregnancy, the first I miscarried & the second I had no clue I was pregnant until a few weeks before birth. I'm 18 wks & I'm worried. My next doctors appointment is in a couple weeks.
  • I can relate... Just found out we're having twin boys after having the perfect boy & girl names chosen... Now we have no clue!!
  • I finally came up with a strategy to get DH to have a real conversation about names.  I just go on the baby name tool and write down any I like.  Then I give DH a list and let him cross off any he doesn't.  At least we are getting somewhere now.

  • I was having a hard time with names until I found out I was having a boy. Then I pretty much decided on Beckett, it was on my list but when I saw him during my A/S that name came to mind. Thinking about it now it sounds like such a cheesy moment! Haha :)

I totally agree!! We have 2 boys, Hawksley and Harrison, and we cannot agree on another H name (or really any name). A lot of the good ones have been taken by friends (Hudson, Hanna, Haley, Hank). The only one we can somewhat agree on is Harley/Harlie. Poor baby #3.
  • We picked a few girl and boy names for ds, didn't find out sex until delivery, and chose once we saw him. I was not able to decide ahead of time, which was fine in the end! Don't worry, it'll work out, you will pick something eventually.

  • I'm not stressing over the names. I'm stressing over whether this baby will have red hair. My DH is certain that his genes are greater than mine and that this LO will definetely have red hair.

I'd love to see a little red headed boy come out!!

i have always secretly wanted red hair. ha!

Me too :) I have very dark brown hair. I'm secretly hoping my brown hair & eyes have some recessive genes hanging out somewhere!!

  • We've had a girl name picked out since day 1, but it took us a little longer to find the boy name. At first, DH loved it and I didn't. It's growing on me. Good thing is we've got some time.
Also my MIL is extremely annoying and had to give us her negative opinion on every name we were thinking about...don't want your opinion, Sharon, but thanks. Ugh. We decided to keep it a secret til birth.
    Good luck!

    @JJBoden‌

I'm reading a British novel right now and the baby son of the main character's name is "Amery". I really like it!

    I also love Avery :)

ETA I love Alistair as well!

Hayden, Havana, Hendrix ( \m/ ), Hope, Harper?

    LOVE hendrix!

That's hilarious that you both mention that bc DH LOVES Hendrix for a boy. It does flow well with the other names! Maybe I'll have to take a serious look at it again.

Harrison would have been called Harper if he was a girl so I don't want to reuse it.
