  • @Joybaby5 : good for you looking out for the kitties!  High of 7?  Does not compute.  I really hope you mean 7c.

@avswolf : fighting urge to go check that thread out... will try to go fold laundry instead.

  • I feel like I've travelled back to the 90s. I've spent the greater part of the day trying to figure out how to use the scanner in my office and where the images go when I scanned them. I am failing miserably at this task.
This has probably been covered, but after you scan the documents, is any icon blinking on your desktop? Usually, I double click on that, it opens, and I rename and save to a folder.

  • LO is a teething heathen.  He already has 6 teeth and they barely gave him any trouble.  I foolishly thought this was going to go easy for us the whole time.

He's been extra whiny, needy, and gnawing for weeks.  I feel really bad for him and have tried all of the things I can come up with to help but it has been to no avail.

Does anyone have any secrets that have worked with your LO? I'm in desperate need!
  • He weirdly doesn't care for cold things.  I've only tried Tylenol so I will be picking up Motrin ASAP.

He likes gnawing on his toothbrush, I will probably go grab that right now!

When nothing else works for teething (medicine, frozen/cold things, etc) I put LO in the bath just to let him play. Water is his most favorite thing and it will calm him down every time without fail. I've even just filed up the sink and let him sit in there if I don't want to draw up a whole bath.

    I'm sorry you're having such a tough time. :(
  • I'm sorry @armfruit  I hope you have a better day tomorrow!
  • Holy mother fuck, I am exhausted. I forgot how tiring it is to get up at 5, work a full day, and then do solo night time stuff with the babe.

  • @Codypup‌ Yay!! I'm so glad your first day went well!! So did you iron out the poop logistics?

  • @avswolf, you are too sweet! Thank you!

@iwubrory @bluedot818 @mevaroo, totally ridiculous, right?! It's not like they don't know where to find me I don't bring in the $3.80 an adult lunch costs in the cafeteria! It's all good though, I just ate some extra cheese while I was making our enchiladas tonight :D

  • It's thunder snowing here.

This is kind of fantastic. I wish our snow was accompanied by thunder... or just delete the snow from the equation
It's interesting. The lightning is really intense, and the thunder shakes our whole house.

  • @Codypup, I'm so happy for you! I know you were really worried about how things would play out once you moved, but it sounds like things are starting to fall into place! I'm so happy that you found a job doing something you love!

That's the thing, I don't have any "real" worries, it's all just crazy anxiety stuff. The drive part is going to suck, and I'm not looking forward to that. Maybe it's because a few people have said negative things lately, about how I'm risking LO's safety by going. Obviously I don't believe that's true, or I'd never consider it, but it's hard not to let that get into my head.

Okay. You're doing a great job at this, mama. Yeah, the drive might suck, but everything has gone [relatively] smoothly thus far right? And if you hate Mexico, is there a reason you can't just turn around and go somewhere else?

(((hugs))) I'll be thinking of you.

You're still bumping from Mexico, right?

  • @bookshelves I'm in your boat right now.

When LO turned 6 months we argued because DH wanted to sleep train so she would learn to put herself to sleep. It got to the point where we were spending 45-60 minutes rocking her and she wouldn't fall asleep, just want to play with my face. I knew we had to do something cuz she needed to nap, so I caved and sleep trained. It wAs brutal, but it worked and lo could easily fall asleep on her own after a week or two and we've had no problems since.

Fast forward to 4 days ago. Lo is teething and will not nap and screams bloody murder when I try and put her in her crib. She'll be out cold on my shoulder, and wake up screaming the second I try and put her down. No way in heck I will sleep train when she is teething, but DH is on my case again. Saying she's just doing it because she doesn't want to leave me. It's so frustrating to argue over this every night. I hope to God she goes back to normal after her tooth cuts.
  • @TyrannosaurusLex‌ does he rock her to sleep in the swaddle?

We are on 10x no go in the crib, but he is also screaming while I hold him. There's nothing either of us can do for him, it's hysterics in the crib and hysterics when either of us is holding him... I don't know which it worse...

When this happens I let lo comfort suck on me for a ridiculously long time until she is so calm and asleep. Could you try his tonight?

For the first time ever tonight, lo calmed down while I stood above her crib and rubbed her head/back and shushed. This has literally never happened before...have you tried this @BlueDot818‌ ? I know it sounds like crazy talk to think he would fall asleep like that (which is what I thought since she always screams when I do this), but just thought I'd mention it since it worked for me tonight!
  • @rachaelmary haven't tried the shushing... and he has been too hyper to nurse for any length of time. He just pooped, so maybe that was the problem... that's what I'm hoping anyway. ..

Fx that was the issue and he will sleep now! It's so frustrating when they won't just go to sleep in their crib.
  • Oh man, I'm sorry!! Have you tried taking a break from attempting bed time and distracting him for a bit?

When L gets inconsolable, lately I've put on a baby Einstein video to help distract her from bed and or whatever is bothering her. Then once she starts smiling at me and trying to crawl/move around I'll go back and nurse again or rock again.

Join too! Except it's only me, not DH. The last few nights she's gone down fine but when she wakes in the MOTN I can't calm her in the crib. She spits out her pacifier and says "ma" which breaks my heart so I pick her up and she falls asleep on my chest. I'm paranoid to sleep like this. Ahh!
