@Babar78, I hate that stupid elf. My cousin got one for my kids when my oldest was 4. It came in the mail all wrapped and addressed to my son, who could read his name, and I had no idea what was in the package.
I am terrible at remembering to move the damn thing, I have ZERO desire to make it a FB competition like half my friends with kids who post their stupid elf every day doing some dumb assed thing. But my kids love the little bastard. Booo
I am on team "no!" in regards to that elf. It is creepy and I have enough to do around the holidays without having to worry about moving a stupid doll around the house.
I also feel that the whole Santa/elf/reindeer thing is taken waaaay too far. I guess I am a total Scrooge but I just don't understand the point of creating elaborate lies to tell children. There are plenty of real reasons for children to be nice and behave that do not involve material bribes by some fat old dude in a red suit who breaks into people's houses.
Christmas for us is about celebrating family and showing love for the people in our lives. I do like the origins of St Nick and the idea of giving to those in need, so we will probably incorporate that into our family traditions when the boys are older.
It makes me feel kinda special that all these random minions are so fixated on our little board over here. We just mind our own business and people find us so irresistible. Like moths to the flame of our awesomeness.

We have some pretty dedicated groupies! Even after certain unnamed individuals have been banned (multiple times) they just keep creating new accounts. They love us! They really love us!!

But apparently we think we are special!
We don't think - we know.
Also - when it can to my showers - I knew I needed the big stuff (and I did get quite a few more expensive things at the showers). We were prepared to buy that stuff and were very grateful for the generosity of friends and family. But, I think one of the great things from my showers weren't big ticket or stuff from my registry - it was smaller essentials from experienced moms who saw things missing from my registry and knew I'd need them. That's the best thing about a baby shower. It is women in your life - a lot of them with kids - helping you prepare for motherhood.
Oops, apparently I just crashed the cool kids club (aka Hodor 2.0) since I only started to post here recently. I ate three live goldfish this morning (pregnancy cravings!), so I'm pretty sure I can make it past the initiation hazing. Is there a secret handshake?

Yes but you can't know it because YOU WEREN'T HERE FROM THE BEGINNING. ;-)

@amedbery I totally agree - I got some random small things that I never would have thought about from friends with kids, all with notes that said something like, "you don't know you need this, but you do" - those are like gifts of knowledge and I really appreciate them. (A bathtub spigot cover? I NEVER would have thought about that until LO cracked his head on it.)
I second elf on the shelf being creepy. Sort of a different character thing that I did like was Flat Stanley - a little paper guy that you mail to people to have "adventures" with, and they send you back pictures of him in different places. Better because (1) he doesn't look like Chucky's little brother and (2) all you have to do is pick people to mail him to, instead of moving him every day. I think a lot of grade school classes do this sort of thing to learn about geography or whatever.
It's really not much like Elf but for some reason they're in the same category in my head. Who knows.
D14 November, because I am finally not on mobile, how I feel in 3rd tri:
I have a work shower this week. I am pumped. Sure, 99% of things will be off registry, but I'm just happy to be getting a shower! I think it's awesome people want to celebrate my baby. And have an excuse to eat and hang out for 2 hours at work instead of working, obvi.
And, can I just say that I hate when a whole board gets called stupid or bitches because of ONE
thread that wasn't participated in by everyone on the board?
It was a fair point that a randoms thread already existed. But I also don't blame people for hesitating to hop in, since I felt the same way about the original randoms thread. I just don't understand why any of that had to turn dramatic.
As far as caps go, I totally use them for emphasis in place of italics. Oopsie.
The elf is fucking creepy.
I just had 5 cornmeal muffins with butter as a "snack." I blame misskilljoy.
Ummmm I think I just caught up on most of the randomness so far today. Hope y'all are having a good Monday!
D14 November Siggy Challenge - How I Feel 3rd Tri:
But I took the internet too seriously. That's a reason, right? 8-|
I believe you tried to "own the internet"
-----QBF-----
Apparently they don't watch @ midnight on Comedy Central. The winner actually does win the Internet for 23.5 hours. @misskilljoy You could totally go on the show and win!
@bowlwoman I LOVE @ midnight. I need to reset on my dvr because no way I'm making it to midnight these days. Unless it's on hulu or online somewhere or something - hm - will have to do some hunting.
D14 November, because I am finally not on mobile, how I feel in 3rd tri:
Thanks for the reminder - I think I have about 6 hours of @midnight on my DVR. And yes, @misskilljoy could win. As long as Doug Benson or Ron Funches weren't on that night - they're tough!
I got online today and purchased the rest of the items I needed for baby. And went to target and bought a butt load of diapers and wipes. Just hoping a buttload is enough. I tried to be reasonable about it, seeing as a newborn can use 8-10 diapers a day sometimes more... Just want to be super prepared on that end.. I did stop to try looking for a second base for the car seat, but to no avail... I talked to my aunt who got me the car seat and she told me where she got it, hoping they sell bases too. I would assume that they do, but just in case I have found it online, but it seems outlandishly pricey on the net (shipping is like $25). But other than that I am good. I got all my thank yous mailed too! Glad to have it over with.

I'm wearing sweatpants and they feel uncomfortable. How is this possible?! Seriously...
I put on my favorite sweat pants today, and I've officially out grown them. They keep rolling down off my ass/gut. It makes me sads. My bra is also eating my sideboob fat. Clothing is over rated.
Just came home and immediately put on pyjama pants. They are my favourite right now. Also the bra immediately come off too.
My co-workers are throwing a shower for me on Wednesday and one of the girls is organizing a group gift for me. She came up to me today to say that some people are getting their own gifts, so they don't quite have enough money to get me the Ergo 360 from my registry. She asked if it was ok if they just gave me cash and I could put it towards that. Ummmm..yes! Cash sounds amazing! (Also may downgrade to a regular ergo, since the 360 is so expensive).
Also the parents of my class are throwing me a shower on Friday. I never expected that. So sweet of them. They don't know about my registry, so it will all be off registry things, but I'm sure there will be tons of cute clothes, blankets etc. I'm feeling very lucky and loved!
Outside of some maternity yoga pants, I am relegated to DHs old TMNT and He Man sleep pants. By the power of Grey Skull my body will return to single occupancy in 6 or so weeks!
