  • Wondering when baby congestion warrants a call to the pediatrician...

Is he having trouble breathing: chest heaving, etc? If he's struggling to breathe call NOW. If it sounds like it's just moved to his lungs, I'd call in the morning and be seen to determine whether he needs an antibiotic. Poor baby. :(

...so I braved putting on jeans for the first time today since my c section. It wasn't terrible!!! And I even tried it with my pre pregnancy pants! I wouldn't say they fit perfectly by any means but standing they looked fine, just a tad uncomfortable when I sat down. I was pretty pleased!

Nice! I tried some black maternity pants last night but they kept hitting me at the incision. But I can wear yoga pants no problem. Maybe I should try regular jeans instead. They may have a different seam structure.
@starla487‌ my jeans are higher waisted because low rise jeans give my curvy hips a muffin top, so that really helped as far as where it hit in relation to my incision. Up until today I had only worn yoga pants, sweat pants, and when I needed to dress up a maxi skirt. The jeans only lasted for a trip to the jeweler and back, then I changed back into sweat pants!

  • @Emerald27‌ he's choked a few times on snot but he can nurse and seems okay after I suck his nose. I'd say he breathes normally 90% of the time. I think I can call in the morning. Thank you!

  • Just today DDs cheeks and chin have become red and flushed looking. Its been this way for hours. She's not too warm and doesn't have a temperature. What is this? Is it normal?

Is the house warm? Are the patches dry? Have you used any new soaps or lotions?
Its set at 70 degrees like always. No new lotions and they dont feel dry. Its strange! It looks like she's flushed from being overheated or something but she's not! :/

  • Crawford, what is your specialty at work?
  • I wish there was a way to know how Sunny would sleep before I put her to bed. Not knowing if we are going to sleep 5 minutes or 5 hours makes me crazy.

    Total mindfuck.

Also...my sweet lo slept for over 2 hours and is now having a major meltdown. Not sure how the hell to fix him and it is making me feel all stressed.
  • @MrsSinner402‌ Has she had cold-like symptoms recently (past week)? The rosy cheeks could be from Fifth's Disease, but usually this is preceded by a week of viral-type illness, then the rosy cheeks, then a purplish lacy rash. It's common in kidsl this time of year.

Well that sounds terrifying. :( all she's had are some dry boogers in her nose but I assume that's from us needing a humidifier. No other symptoms that would suggest she was sick.

I did not know this...met with a mom of twins on Friday and one of the boys had big red patches on his cheeks. Hope it wasn't Fifths...I don't remember if they coughed or anything. But of course I had the baby with me. UGH!! Off to google and probably scare myself...

  • @Irobi13 That was us a couple hours ago. A warm bath, then darkened room, snuggles, and nursing, and he's happily back asleep.

It could also just be eczema, a rash, or flushing.
Yeah I read up on Fifths and its only transmitted from infected children, as adults are immune to it. DD hasnt been around any kids. And she hasn't had any signs of illness.

  • Are you still using/liking the medela calma bottle @MrsCunningham22‌ ?
  • Crawford, what is your specialty at work?

Well my certification is family practice but I work in preadmission testing and perioperative services.
I always want to ask you where you work because if you live in the city I think you live, I have a friend that just moved there with her 1-year-old kid and husband. She works at a hospital there. I realize hospitals are huge and you probably don't know her. I'm just weird.

My ds1 has red cheeks a lot! He had them almost his whole first year from teething and he still randomly gets them. He has sensitive skin so his cheeks turn red for no reason.
  • It has been a rough night. Finally Noah is asleep. I'm worried he will wake up if I put him down. Would be my luck. I feel defeated tonight.

I just realized tonight that LO's hunger queues are similar to frustrated trying to fall asleep queues. Makes tryimg to put her down difficult. Not sure of she's still hungry or just really tired.

DD is super fussy tonight too. And DH has to go back to work tomorrow. I really hope I get some sleep as well. Love tit for solidarity.

Well put her back on the boob and she lasted all of 1 minute. So just put her back down. Hope she is actually asleep now and nor tricking me like normal.

Anyone else's kid wake themselves up by peeing?
It never fails, the instant I've laud DS down, he pees and wakes up. We've had almost no nap time today bc of this.

Yup. I actually just changed her diaper. Now to try to get her down again.
  • I did not breast feed at all and lo is 4 weeks tomorrow and I am still leaking a little milk. I tried cabbage, two tight bras, antihistamines. Nothing worked. My Dr just keeps saying it's strange it hasn't dried up. I think I'm going to have to try birth control next. I didn't want to put hormones in my body since I already have so many running wild in there but I don't know what else to do. At this rate I'll still be leaking when he goes to kindergarten.

I read somewhere that you may leak a little for up to a year. If it's just a tiny bit, I'd go with it. I'm still leaking a bit, too, but it seems to only be when I take my bra off. It's like my boobs cry at their bf failure. Sad boobs.

When they're tired, they want to nurse because it's comforting and helps them fall asleep. It's not too surprising that LO would cue for hunger when she's sleepy. :)

This makes me terrified I'm overfeeding her.
