Major cooking/baking day. I'm hosting an engagement party next weekend and today I'm making and freezing soup and two kids of cookies. But first I have to hit Whole Foods. The bride is gluten/dairy intolerant and I need more almond flour.
I am randomly waking up at least once a week now to wet dreams and my energy is sloooowly coming back. I think my body is behind on the whole second tri thing. . Maybe with luck it won't realize it when 3rd tri is happening until week 38 or something.
@CoozieInMyPurse have fun cooking/baking! I'm hungry thinking about it. Working on the nursery this weekend. Tonight I'm going to a punk concert. Don't worry, I won't be in a mosh pit lol Have a great weekend ladies!
Pumpkins snickerdoodles for the gluten/dairy okay crowd and gluten/dairy free snickerdoodles for the bride and anyone else. I've made the cookies for her before and they are actually quite good!
Cookies yummmmm. That reminds me, I have some Halloween type cookies in the fridge I never baked (the slice and bake kind) so maybe I'll bake them all today!! I already ate a homemade turkey, cheese and egg bagel but I think I need some cocoa puffs now. I know @chilibeansm0m made a thread yesterday about Costco, but we don't have one close by we currently go to BJ's but our membership will expire end of month. We like it but found a Sam's club that's a little closer so we were going to go check that out this wknd. Anyone really love or hate Sam's club? We will go see if we like it enough to switch from BJ's.
@saltyfins no I don't think you're paranoid, I think that's a very legitimate concern. I would be very wary of non vaccinated kids around my kid. Especially when yours won't have the shots yet.
Waiting for DH to get up so we can head out to the store. Then I have to finish my 25 page paper for my capstone project and record my oral presentation that goes with it...ugh. I am so glad this is my last class until February. I need a break!
We are heading to Ohio next Friday for a week for Thanksgiving and I am going crazy trying to get everything done before we go!
So I'm already thinking ahead to when the baby is born and when people are going to want to come visit/meet him. My brother-in-law's kids aren't vaccinated and I'm worried about them being around my kid (especially when he is still young and hasn't had his shots yet.) Is this a legitimate concern or am I being paranoid?
Legit concern. We're not allowing anyone without a pertussis vaccination to come in contact with our babby, and we certainly won't let unvaccinated children around babby. Children are already impressive disease vectors, so it just seems like playing with fire.
@saltyfins I think that's a legit worry. I am travelling by plane when our baby girl will be 2-3 months (for memorial week) to the beach in FL for a family get together. Not only will baby have airport and plane germs, but also all the relatives will be very hands on when they meet her for the first time. Very concerning.
AFM: We went to a buffet brunch yesterday thay was incredible (but way too expensive). It included alcohol, so naturally I had cranberry juice instead! And I still haven't booked my flight for a trip that leaves in a week and a half. So much to do.
@saltyfins no I don't think you're paranoid, I think that's a very legitimate concern. I would be very wary of non vaccinated kids around my kid. Especially when yours won't have the shots yet.
I'm just afraid of how that conversation is going to go down. I don't want to be mean about it, but I'm damn sure going to protect my kid.
If they feel strongly enough to not vaccinate their children, then they should already be aware of how people may or may not react. I would have that discussion soon so they aren't shocked last minute by how you feel. I know its not the same but my father stays with us about once a week and when the baby comes he wants to be here every weekend so I told him he needed to get his flu shot, he declined so we agreed that at the first sign of any sickness he will go home no questions asked. Thats my comfort level whether he agrees or not and im going to stick to it.

I have no suggestions for you about how to approach it, but I would be concerned as well. Maybe polite and direct would be best?
Have a good weekend everyone. Not much going on here except I have to clean my house, so dirty.

I just went to whole foods too. Shopping before 9 on a Saturday is the only way to go. Also they just started a rewards card program which makes me happy.
@saltyfins yeah I wouldn't let my baby around unvaccinated kids either. This can be one of the repercussions their dumbass parents have to face that they likely didn't think through before not vaccinating (unless the kids cannot get vaxed for medical reasons then I retract my last statement)
AFM, I've been up since 6 and couldn't ever get back to sleep. I'm gonna head to the mall cause bath and body works has full size lotions, regularly $12, on sale today for $3. I'm gonna grab a few to keep on hand for last minute Christmas gifts. They give you a cello bag and ribbon to tie them up all pretty too
It's now less than three weeks until we head to Sweden, but I have SO MUCH SHIT left to do this semester that it's insane. Papers, exams, practicums... too much. I'll be glad when my ass sits in my seat on our Nashville-to-JFK flight because that's when the semester will TRULY be over. Next semester, I'm only taking eight credits, five of which are challenged by portfolio, so really I'm taking three credits.
Jealous of all of you who can bake. I suck at it! I try, but it doesn't ever turn out the way I want (picture Pinterest fails).
Dumb question, but what is Vday? I've seen a bunch of people use this, but I don't know what it means.
Here's my random irritation! I hadn't really mentioned anything about CDing to anyone because I didn't want to hear people's unsolicited advice and/or opinions. Well, one person I did tell, mentioned it around others. One lady laughed and gave me the whole, "Just wait for the first time you have to dump poop! You won't want to do it!" She talked about how a CD service company was on dirty jobs one week and the host was gagging. I'm a FTM and being laughed at over decisions I plan to make irritates me. I haven't told anyone about my birth plan (trying to go natural) because I don't feel like getting laughed at again and honestly won't change my plan anyway. I hate the "you just wait" speech that comes with everything. Yes, I'm a FTM, but that doesn't mean CDing, BFing, and a natural birth aren't possible. I've been reading/researching to get as prepared as I can. I know.. I know! I need a thicker skin. I guess I'm just venting. I'm off my soapbox now.
Morning everyone.
@saltyfins , I don't think that is paranoid at all. I liked toasters idea of quoting your doctor. That's Probably what I'd do.
AFM I went the the bathroom this morning and there was bright pink blood when I wiped. I didn't do anything strenuous yesterday either.
I guess I'm just going to keep an eye on it right now since it wasn't a ton of blood, and I'm not cramping. But it still worries me. Of course it happens on saturday where my only option would be going to the ER.
FX that it's just a little bleeding. I know how scary it can be ((Hugs)).

@earthian same thing has happened to me twice now. I went to the ER the first time and just called my OB the second time. They both said if you only notice it when you wipe (ie it's not continuing to bleed or bleed at a rate that fills up a pantiliner) and it stops then you're ok. I actually found straining from a BM will trigger it. (Yay stool softeners!)
I sure hope it gets better! I know how scary it can be! ((Hugs))
@CoozieInMyPurse you just inspired me to bake the fundraiser cookie dough I recent bought from a friend's kid, after sadly realizing I should no longer eat raw cookie dough.
Stay strong, @JNCPro3130. I have similar plans and while know it's only the beginning of unsolicited & rude parenting advice, I swear these hormones zap patience to just smileandnod. I think it was @Whitfry who once posted this awesome blog that's been very inspirational for me:https://powerofmoms.com/2012/05/joy-or-just-wait/ I think people who judge are insecure about how they did their own parenting. Otherwise, who would give a fk?
Getting my hair done today - think I'm gonna do side bangs. After growing my hair out long, I'm fighting the urge to chop it off right now and need something different!

V Day = Viability day, aka your baby could survive outside of you if there is an emergency.
I think you need to get a thicker skin. Most of your parenting decisions will be questioned, no matter what they are. You just need to decide what you think is right for you and baby and go for it. Also, a couple of years ago I literally laughed at a girl who told me she could be CDing--because I had never heard of it before that time so I actually thought it was a joke. I'm certain I accidentally insulted many women when I was younger so I'm ready to receive my karma.
Thank you. I wasn't sure what VDAY was either. Is it 23 or 24 weeks?

Thank you so much for that link! It made me cry! Lol yay hormones. I needed that today!
I am so stumped on names. None of them seem right? The only one that seems to have "stuck" is Thomas Brady (yes-we live in MA and are Patriots fans) My husband and I have been referring to the baby as "little TBC" for weeks now (c is our last name initial) I guess I'm stuck on the fact of: will my son get made fun of if he has this name? I think it's cute but I don't want him to suffer.
@saltyfins - no you def aren't overreacting. When we had DD (also in March) we matter of factly said to our family and friends that if they wanted to visit the baby they had to have their flu shot and pertussis vaccine. That was it, no debate, case closed. If anyone didn't want to do that we would have told them it's cool but you won't see her until she's had her first (or second) round of shots. And by then it will be June so cold and flu season will be long gone.
We didn't have any un-vaxed kids in our immediate family but if so that would be a hell no. Just tell your husband to be firm and keep it simple. It's not a discussion on their decision, but letting them know they can't visit initially.
AFM, been freaked out by a few days of consistent pain and pressure really low by my cervix, mostly in the evenings. Went to the dr to get checked out and they said everything is good. Whew!
Happy Saturday! I'm having a hard time getting myself motivated...dog is extra cuddly today.
@saltyfins I'm curious to find out everything turns out. My MIL was trying to tell hubs to try to talk me out of getting the flu shot. I had already gotten it because I'm not a total asshole and am around a lot of sick people at work. I'm positive MIL won't get any vaccinations. Plus there is a huge pertussis outbreak in our state right now that is freaking me out.
I wish I could just give them the shots in their sleep. Or sneak up on them ninja style. Maybe that's what I'll give them for Christmas. I'll be the Oprah of tdap shots. "Everyone look under your seats! You get a vaccination! You get a vaccination! Everyone gets vaccinations!"
@saltyfins My sil doesn't vaccinate her kids either, so I really don't want them around our little guy until he can be vaxed. We haven't talked to her about it yet, and I've been nervous about bringing it up too. She believes in quack science. I don't know how to reason with that.
@happymamax2, I'd be seriously pissed! I hope he gets home soon for your sake, but that's uncalled for. I'd be having a very serious conversation about his priorities. Good luck!

It partially depends on your hospital. All hospitals will try to save a 24w baby. Some have a strict policy that they won't try before. Some NICUs will routinely take 23weekers. Our will. You can look up survival rates. At 23w it is about 14% and goes up 3-4% per day. At 24w it is about 34% and goes up 2-3% per day.
I woke up this morning (6:30am) STARVING (not literally obviously), I woke up my H and said "do you think In&Out burger is open?".... he stared at me, then at the clock, turned over in bed not answering. I haven't had an appetite but at Week 23 it's coming back full force and I need to be careful because all I want is crappy food. I settled for a piece of raisin bread and banana (my LO's favorite) and I'm impatiently waiting for H to get out of the shower so we can walk down to our breakfast spot, he doesn't like to eat breakfast till after 9, ugghhh!

I asked my doctor about the pertussis vaccine last time I was there. He said he wants all moms to get it, but it's optional for everyone else. He highly recommends it for health care workers and anyone if there is an outbreak in the area.
@happymamax2 wow the friend sounds like a real gem. And your husband deserves whatever object you throw at him when he walks in the door for lying about where he was going. But you have the right idea of leaving the house until you can calm down a little bit. I get so hot headed and I think if I were in the situation, I'd say a lot of things I'd later regret if I spoke as soon as he got home. Good luck @earthian did you get lucky last night? After sex I sometimes spot. Here's to hoping it's nothing and lots of creepy internet hugs for you
@saltyfins that sounds like a fun convo. I agree with what some others have said about just quoting a doctor. I mean honestly, its a newborn baby. There are plenty of people who won't let anyone hold their newborn and make people purell before coming close. I think the desire to keep your brand-new-to-this-world child away from potentially life threatening illness is your right.
@happymamax2 Um yea none of that would be flying in my household.
