  • So I've been silently lurking this thread the past couple days after abandoning TB for a while. But after @laurenann89 referenced TPB, I have to chime in. Hands down my favorite TV show ever. And I'm going to see them live next month! Wooooooo! Sorry for the interruption, let the shit show continue...

Who I am shouldn't matter, call me Shells if you wish though. I'm not here to stir any pot, drug use is a legitimate concern regardless of whether it's your friend or not.

I'll admit I only joined a few days ago, but I have been around for a while.

So what was your sn before this one? Or if you are really new to this board, why would you choose this thread to intro on?
I'm not new to any part of TB, that doesn't automatically mean I had/have another sn. I'm not using this as an intro either, you cannot possibly get to know someone from an intro, that comes with time.
Okie doh! But you still haven't answered my question...

I ask about sn because so many have changed theirs on this board. I'm trying to remember you. I ask about your debut in this board on this thread because there are so many others that you could contribute to without attaching yourself to this drama. I'm curious and naturally a bit skeptical due to recent events.

So you've just been following an Internet forum for shits and giggles and don't even have account? And/or you get off on being creepy and cryptic?

    No thank you.

@HighPeak‌ I've not defended a drug user and I don't know the details - but, I think some of it would depend on the drug and the age of the child. A lot of people view marijuana differently, same with alcohol.

My first boyfriend (he was 14) used to smoke pot with his friend and the friends' parents. I've also known parents who would let their children drink alcohol under their supervision or have sex in the home. I wouldn't do any of that, but depending on circumstances I don't think it's end of the world. Plenty of people have a more relaxed way of parenting.

I get your sentiment, but using ANY drugs with your kids, while you look after a baby (even alcohol) is a big no no. Weed may not be viewed as a "hard drug" but it does have a great impact on your reaction times, your thinking capacity and your outlook on life/situations in general, especially over a prolonged period of time.

I agree. I'm all for getting my drunk on, and back in the day, my smoke on, but certainly not when I'm responsible for caring for my kids.

    Exactly!

Anyway, i'm sure there are a few wondering who the hell this random WK is, but i'm afraid i'll be gone for a few hours, i might see on mobile if there are any posts to me, but won't be replying until much later if there is.

    Have a great night ladies.

Why is @HighPeak‌ telling us to have a good night at 12:30 in the afternoon?! What time is it in the UK right now?

  • FTR, I shared this drama with my other board and they are making fun of me. They know how insanely uncomfortable I get being involved in things. Gah. Too bad I wasn't one of the intended targets BC then you guys would have been very successful. Haha. You got me squirming. ;)

As a provider in the nicu, who sees and cares for "drug babies", trust me there are FAR worse things than a little pot during pregnancy. Including cigarettes and alcohol. Is it good? No. But it's not the worst either. Not saying that's an excuse by any means. But it's not worth the argument either.
I'm not saying pot is the worst, but to smoke pot, you need tobacco, that's the 'no' factor for me. My dh's family are foster parents, they had a 4 week old with FAS, it broke my heart!
    Wut?

Pot does not have tobacco. They are two entirely different plants. I've smoked both. Trust me on this.

This exactly. There is also no nicotine in pot, which you stated before. There has also been virtually no research on the effects of pot to an unborn fetus, because how exactly would they conduct such research? Ask a bunch of pregnant ladies to smoke pot and see what happens? So there is really no proof that it even has any adverse effects. Just sayin.

  • mmm, drugs r bad, mkay?

@bsouls - I found the same research for the same reason.  I was going to talk someone out of it and couldn't find enough evidence to support my stance.

I have taught preschool and kindergarten for many years (I won't even tell you how old I am, but my number begins with a 3!)  I can say for sure that I can't tell who was breastfed or left to CIO or high in utero in any kindergarten classroom.  I don't care either.

@HighPeak what are you smoking?  And who are you?  Why did you crawl out from under your rock today?

Plenty of things stay lit without tobacco.. What are you even talking about?

Have you tried to roll a joint with just pot? Bot the solid for and the plant won't stay lit unless mixed with tobacco. But if you know of another way, I'll gladly listen.
Your reply doesn't make sense. "Bot the solid for" ? What does that even mean? I might have taken you seriously if you had some credibility in our board and used sentences that actually made sense.

  • Ok I get flamed for feeding my baby formula !! But you crazy fools are ok with smoking pot while pregnant ?! I'm pretty sure we had this same argument about a year ago !

I would have thought from my posts, it's clear I'm smoking nothing. I just got off the 3 day posting rule, that's why I'm posting today. ETA quote fail @lindsey1031

I know someone who had testicular cancer and carried his cell phone in his front pocket all the time. He believes that's what caused it.

  • @bsouls b my research soul mate!

Objective science and factual evidence gets me all hot and bothered!

    image

  • Lol, those are all from the same place and it's all funded government research!  As in, funded by the government, for government purposes.  It's like if BP came out and said they conducted some research and found the oil is not harmful to ocean creatures.  This is biased research.  It's not supported by other claims either...Did you actually read the links you posted?

    image

  • The problem with the research is like what @bsouls was saying - there is no way to humanely conduct research on the effects of marijuana on unborn fetuses.  So there's no good answer here.  @jforsythia, I (and I'm pretty sure @bsouls as well) am not condoning marijuana usage during pregnancy or after.  I'm saying the research in inconclusive and will probably remain so for a long time.  You don't have to convince me it's not worth doing.  But if you're going to list research links, read them and then follow the sources.  Then we can have a discussion about it.
