19 week ultrasound and my baby is UPSIDE DOWN

I had an ultra sound the other day and my baby girl was upside down in it. The tech would shake my stomach to try toget her to move right side up but baby girl would make a motion that looked like she was literally punching back when the tech would do that lol. Is it normal for her to be upside down? (First time mom obviously)

  • Babies move. That's normal
  • I'll bite....at my anatomy scan my baby had the spine up, so facing my back. Is that what you mean upside down? They couldn't get good pictures of the heart so I'm going back next week to see if the baby moved. If this is what you mean....then yes your baby is fine.

  • I didn't post this question to get rude ass replies sooooo thanks
  • You need to read up on how pregnancy works and maybe even talk to your doctor if you're so concerned. Did the ultrasound tech seem concerned? Pretty sure they would say something if it was bad. The responses you got were helpful and you need to toughen up if you're getting butthurt already.

I had a similar experience only opposite, baby was tummy up so they couldn't take proper pictures of his spine, I'm going back for more pictures that couldn't be taken at my original anatomy scan because the couldn't get him to flip over-no big deal.
  • Your baby is just breech right now, not upside down.  Mine was also in this breech position at my anatomy scan at 20 weeks.  It doesn't matter what position they are in at this point because they still have so much room to move and are constantly flipping.  Breech doesn't really become an issue until like 36 or 37 weeks when they don't have as much room to get into position for birth.  Don't worry about it yet.

  • I don't quite
Understand what you mean by upside down, but I am going to take a guess that you mean head down toward your pelvis. If that's the case babies constantly move and just because her head is down doesn't mean she is getting ready to come out. I had one head down and one head up and two weeks later they were laying sideways across my abdomen head to feet. Totally normal.

Mine looked like he was playing the banjo and singing during my 20 week ultrasound. What does that mean? Will he be ok? Will he ever be able to hold down a real job?
Nope.  He's destined to grow a huge beard and to abhor shoes.  You'd better prepare yourself for a straw-chewing addiction, too.
Goddammit. I was worried about that. I'd better start looking into severe psychological reprogramming options.
  • Take it how you want I'm not talking about the huhs or the people that are saying straight forward that my question isn't understood
  • My tech wouldn't answer any of the questions I asked and said my dr would get in contact with me within 3-5 buisness days from recieving the scans
  • My LO was facing my spine during the a/s so it was hard to get a face shot. He flipped over after I got up to use the restroom. In your picture, I can't tell what way/direction baby is but it shouldn't matter because they move around all the time right now. Weird that your u/s tech wouldn't tell you anything.

  • Honestly, unlike most ridiculous threads on here -- I freaking love this one. The title cracks me up. The post makes me want to say "you poor thing, everything is just fine!" & take the OP out to lunch. Maybe I've gone soft but I find this whole post humorous & kind of sweet/adorable.

Here is proof that my baby is trolling me from inside the womb. I guess M15 is rubbing off on him. Just in case anyone didn't think I was srs about the singing and banjo playing.

We had a u/s that looked like this (with baby looking straight out), but the babies hands were pressed against my belly. It made my husband and the tech jump.

  • Babies move around a lot at the beginning because they have a lot of room. Perhaps the us technician was trying to get your baby to move so she could get a clear picture. I wouldn't worry if I were you!! :)

Is it a butt baby? Sometimes they turn out upside down.
This made me literally howl with laughter.
