  • I love working retail. In my dream world, I would own my own children's boutique someday.

The only poop I have ever had to deal with was of the canine variety when I work at a pet supply store, and cleaning the changing table at my current store.

  • My UO is pretty morbid.  I have been following the recent school shooting pretty closely.  I can't believe all of the killer's friends (and even one of his victims) are saying what a good guy he was and how he is "looking down on them from heaven." They keep talking about how much they miss him.

I would be pretty pissed off if someone I was close to text messaged me to meet him at lunch, just to shoot me in the head.  It might be a little too soon to say that I forgive him.

  • Am I the only one that doesn't think my job is that hard?

I find my job challenging, but not hard. I love my job- it's my dream position.

The individual aspects of my job are not overly challenging. The thing that makes my (and I assume a lot of other peoples') job hard is finding the time to fit all those individual aspects into my day. The whole ever increasing workload, never increasing staff thing.

Also I feel spelling tests at school are stupid.  I refuse to give them.  Kids just memorize the words the night before, spell them right, and then never spell them write again.  I teach spelling patterns still, but focus on using resources like a dictionary or the Internet to correct your spelling instead.

I have said this before, but Charlie Brown is horrible and so is all his specials and I don't like the Nightmare Before Christmas.
    I LOL'd at this.

Well, while you were LOL'ing at that, I was LOL'ing at the bolded.

  • I like the way my yard looks when the leaves fall from the trees. I don't rush to blow them out to the street. I enjoy seeing the fall backdrop.

My apartment complex takes leaf blowers and blows all the beautiful red leaves off the trees. It about broke my heart last year when they did it! Assholes.

Although I'm sure it makes their job a lot easier.

@kerco51, this is local to me, so i've been following it really closely, too.

his cousin, who he shot, and is alive, forgives him. while it sucks big time, nobody will fully understand the mental turmoil that was going on in his head. washington state has one of the worst records for mental health, and also the worst for classroom sizes. nobody was able to recognize his hurt and struggle. it doesn't excuse his actions, but it takes away a little of the hate that people can feel for him.

  • Hey guise I think I have legit UO, and I don't care that it's Saturday.

I think that the whole hype about sugar and caffeine making kids crazy is ridiculous. I think that either kids get super jacked up because parents restrict too much or parents kids misbehave so they have to blame something.

I was never restricted on my Halloween candy and besides getting a gut ache from overindulging it never affected my mood or my cousin that I grew up with.

Only time will tell if some kids are truly sensitive to caffeine and sugar. I'm very interested in how D will behave. I just have seen so many parents that seem to make their kids think they will get hyper and then they do.

I agree that sugar doesn't make kids hyper, but I think it's a little ridiculous to say that caffeine doesn't...that's what caffeine does. It's a chemical whose side effects include increased heart rate, jitters, and more alertness. Sometimes if I don't eat enough with a cup of coffee, I get very shaky, and if I drink it too close to bedtime, it keeps me up. Why would you think it would affect a child any differently? :-??

I guess my reasoning on caffeine was pertaining to pop. I had a friend who got mad that her son was given Sprite during a family get together, because it had to much caffeine. He was acting crazy, but sprite is a caffeine free drink. I've personally never gotten the jitters from caffeine but you are right I'm sure high amounts of caffeine would have an effect on a child just like it would on an adult, so I should have phrased that differently.

I totally agree with you.  Being in the mental health field, I realize that this kid was really struggling.  It's a shame he couldn't have gotten help, which may or may not have prevented this.  I just think his friends reactions are a bit extreme.  After all of these school shootings, the killers were portrayed as monsters.  The attitude towards this one is very different and they seem to be acting like he was the victim too.  It's just interesting to me.  I read that another girl died last night.
