My brother was so excited to see me. They're having a big 40th bday party tonight with the Royals game on in the background (planned the party before they made it all the way). So happy to celebrate, but then up early tomorrow and back home I go!
Haven't heard from DH on how he and DS are doing-- hoping no news is good news, but have a feeling they ate peanut butter out of a jar for dinner last night (seriously happened last time I left for 2 days).
Not trying to bloat the spam, but I really don't think this deserves its own thread--my MIL is planning my baby shower for either January 24th or 25th and it's freaking me out. I know I'm due February 21st, but that still seems suuuuuper close to me...
For me it would be too close. I have a coworker who is due Dec 11, and her shower is Nov 15th. I felt weird when talking to her and my edd is Feb 7th, and here we both have a shower on Nov 15th. I guess some people are okay with a month or so to go.
Totally understand!
I have a friend due Nov 25 and her shower is Nov 9! I'm due Feb 12 and my MIL's family is doing their shower Nov 15 so I'm like, "ok, is my shower that EARLY or is hers just that LATE?" I guess it's most likely a combo of them both...

I have a loooong weekend at work. 3 major events starting last night (900 person party) and ending Saturday night with our massive halloween party/fundraiser. 3 10 hour days on my feet in a row! Sunday we have trick or treat (if im still walking) so I'll be waddling around the neighborhood for 2 hours with a pint sized Ana from frozen. By then my house will be completely destroyed so my guess is Monday/Tuesday I'll be clearing.

We have a 1 year old birthday party tomorrow and then an Amway Open House in Atlanta on Sunday with my sister.
What would you buy for a gift for the 1 year old? I was thinking books as opposed to toys. Thoughts? If so, some favorite books?
@kefttsc One of my friends got Ronan stacking cups for his 1st brthday and they were an amazing gift. He's 2 and still plays with them. It helps that they're bath friendly too.
ETA: Chunky puzzles are great, too. You can never go wrong with a cute book though.

Kohls has an awesome fundraiser called kohls cares for kids. They sell nice hard cover books and a matching plush toy. They are $5 each. They usually have several different books/plush at a time all by same author. It changes all the time. Super cheap good stuff for a good cause. If you want to spend more add a pair of Jammies. Kids always need jammies!
STUCK:::::::::::
That's a great idea. This isn't a close friend, so buying anything more than $20 is off the table.

At least its protein! i work part time evenings and my husband is so lazy with cooking most of the time. If i dont leave him something for dinner or make sure there are leftovers they come up with all kinds of crazy concoctions. Once they ate cookies and chips and salsa for dinner. Ughhh!

@kefttsc I forgot to add.. I think we got our god daughter a mini ball pit? My niece got a really cool drumset from target. She LOVED it! Also, maybe something to push while walking. As far as books.. My mom got my niece a book that recorded her voice reading it & she loved that also!

@musicgirl524 - I don't remember HOW it worked out this way, but my shower was almost 1 month to the day before I had my DS. (Shower was June 2, water broke July 2, was due July 6) As far as setting everything up and making sure we had everything we needed - we had no issues there. It was plenty of time and then some to have everything done.
My biggest problem is I was beyond the point of having cute, comfy clothing that fit nicely and I had like a major issue with finding anything decent to wear. I just felt like a blob in everything.
End of the day - you *really* only need a place for the baby to sleep, diapers, and a way to feed them when they first come home. So if you did end up going into labor before the shower you still should be able to make it work just fine.
I just killed some Mc D's breakfast! Egg and cheese biscuit, hash brown and OJ. I am kinda sad it is all gone.
This weekend we can really start painting the nursery. We had a hiccup in the other room we were working on and it took a lot longer due to a pack of cheap rollers and lowes craptastic paint. (they said it was as good as SW and BM, but they are full of shit). My husband has the nursery all prepped he just has to put a coat of primer on the walls tonight and then we can finally start painting and hopefully finish this weekend!

I'm having a laid back weekend now. My OB put me on light duty/bed rest till I see him again on Tuesday, I was having some spotting, which i assumed was fine, but I guess I have an infection and its causing some other problems. I feel fine, I honestly wouldn't of even known, but I guess laying back, and letting DH do things around the house could be fun.
@lizzybean Be ready for the tears, and for some reason they instantly look older after a hair cut, and that will make you weepy also.
Another short day for me at the office. Between OB, Cardiologist and Endocronologist appointments, Today will be appointment #4 in one week. Followed by another one Tuesday. I'm so lucky work is understanding.
On another note, DD started asthma controller meds via the nebulizer last month to help prevent her from getting sick and wheezing like she's been doing for the last 2 years. She started off like a rockstar and would hold the mask up to her face and sit and watch tv. Last week she started resisting and it is a 45 minute battle to get her to do the 10 minute treatment. She is starting to develop a cough, so we have to bump it to twice a day. That means 45 minutes of my morning is devoted to getting her to cooperate. We've tried everything, including every bribe possible. DH is at the point of saying that nothing is going to work and it's just not worth it. So frustrating.
ERMAHGERD GUYS...DD slept until 9 o'clock this morning! It was heaven since she's usually up at the ass crack of dawn every morning.
Happy Friday! I hope everyone has a great weekend. There is a ton that needs to be done in the girls' room, but DH works all weekend and I'm lazy so it most likely won't get touched.
@kefttsc at 1, DD loved plastic bath toys. They usually come in a set at Target or BRU. She was teething and loved to chew the shit out of them. Stacking cups were a great recommendation. She loved them too. And balls. Any kind of ball. Aside from a small toy here and there, she literally got all clothes for her first birthday. Can't go wrong with clothes!
I feel like all I ever eat now are eggs! My mom said whatever you eat the most of your child will most likely hate once born...we'll see.
Our weekend consists of the hubby relaxing with a broken ankle on a pillow while I finish knitting a baby blanket. I have to get pictures of everything I've knit so I can get my etsy shop open. I also plan on eating LOTS of pumpkin pie...I have been craving it every morning for a week now!
Only a few hours to go at work today.. taking the 1/2 day. Then headed home to finish packing, and headed out on the road early in the morning to Disney World.
I'll probably be MIA for the next week. Have a great weekend ladies.

Woke up to a huge stretch mark across my stomach. Cried for about 20 minutes. I knew I was going to get them, I have them on my hips from before I was pregnant but it's just too soon. I know my stomach is going to be covered in them and there is nothing I can do about it. I know it will all be worth it but I just hate that I will never look like myself again.
They will fade, hun, and you will learn to love them. I don't even notice mine anymore. Hugs!
Ohhhh noooooo, @krednel1990. I've had nightmares about that several times. So sorry it's happening to you. I'd totally cry and skip work when I find them one morning.
Crazy kids not liking eggs. I guess I gotta get my spawn in with the eggs early. All that talk about McD and eggs this morning, now I have to get some myself.
The big office move is next week over Halloween. I started packing yesterday and was so wiped out after packing only a box of equipment. Being pregnant makes me weak. On a high note, I got a notification that a cube space opened up, since I've been around the longest on my team of creep old farts, I get to move into that better spot. Leaving the creepy old farts to share this dingy small room all by themselves. I'm so pleased it's all working out for me in the end!

I agree. I've been lamenting over the fact that those faded such marks are more visible now but I know that come next summer I'll still be in a bikini because this tiger had earned her stripes.

I am sorry you had a bad morning, I know when I get mine I will cry a lot. I have them on my hips (a few) from before I was pregnant too. I have a tattoo on my hip and I think all the time about how terrible it is all going to look after this is all done. I am also really really upset that I wont look like me again too, but I guess that we will have to learn to love our new bodies after the baby! My boobs grew sooo big last pregnancy and after my mc they deflated and looked so gross, I have big boobs so I am also dreading what they will look like after
@lizzybean thanks you are so sweet! I don't think mine will fade, the ones on my hips have been purple for years. Let's just hope my stomach goes back to where it used to be.
No prob. And I have major stretch marks on my hips, thighs, boobs from weight gain and loss through the years that have always stayed icky. My belly ones honestly faded so much once I started to lose the baby weight. HAve hope!
UGH my crazy coworker uses the bathroom right next to my office (we don't have mens/womens) everyday and stinks it up and leaves the door way open and me and another girl have to get up turn on the fan and close the door or we are gagging in our office. So at a meeting we said If you leave the bathroom smelly TURN ON THE FAN AND CLOSE THE DOOR. so what does he do everyday, turns the fan on and leaves the door wide open so all I can hear is the fan and I still have to get up to close the bathroom door. How can you be that inconsiderate, I feel sorry for his poor wife. Like, how clueless are you.
I can't believe I will have to bring this up in a meeting again. SOOOO thanks to the people turning the fan on but can you please...I don't know CLOSE THE DOOR?! I am ragey today.
DH and I are going to Charleston this weekend. I am anticipating a nice relaxing weekend. Hoping for a massage, but I doubt that will happen. I feel a little guilty going for the entire weekend because we have so much stuff to do around the house.. But Wednesday morning I woke up and said the heck with it!

Perhaps it's a gross request... what do these early stretch marks look like? I've seen some pretty obvious ones on google search, but I'm guessing those are extreme cases. I notice the most protruding part of my belly is splotchy with a range of different pigments. I thought that was just the result of sun exposure when I was on my babymoon. Could that be the beginning of the stretch mark galore?
Having a pumpkin craving/dinner party at my house tomorrow night. I'm excited about the craving part but less so for the dinner as I have no clue what I'm serving yet. The only item I'm sure of is the mini molten chocolate cake. I guess DH might end up grilling in the rain tomorrow night...
Sad lunch story: I bought mozzarella sticks at the grocery store this week as my one "indulge my craving purchase." I was super excited to eat them today!! Put them in the oven for the directed time, take them out- they're not hot enough. Put them back in the oven, take them out a couple minutes later and they exploded everywhere!!!!
Adeline has been saying "Mama" and "Dada" for months now, but it's getting so stinking cute. When she see's me after I come back into the room she looks at me and goes "Maaaamaaaa!" like she is so happy to see me after being gone for 2 minutes. She has been such a little cuddly love recently to both DH and I, I'm loving this age!
