Not a big fan of Rose bouquets.
I went to a lot of funerals when I was young. I think I associate roses with death.
Apparently I'm not the only one with the following feeling: I cannot deal with Asiatic lilies for the same reason. The smell reminds me of funerals. One of my specifications for the flowers at my wedding was 'no lilies.'
UO: I enjoyed Moulin Rouge, thought it was fun and pretty. But I feel like a lot of times 'Moulin Rouge-ing' with modern music in older setting doesn't work. Or, it can work once but as an ongoing thing I'm not a fan. (There's a show I'm watching that I'm worried this is going to ruin it, if you're watching too you'll know what I'm talking about)

Bitch.

Maybe UO was confused with Monday's Bitchfest?
You ladies are right. Now that I read my response, it sounds much more Bitchfest than UO. My apologies. I guess I should have put "I hate FF.". But that sounds lame. I'll just enjoy reading other responses on here about superheroes and all things sweet.
Married to DH (aka the love of my life) since June 17th, 2006
UO- this makes me sound silly, and I never thought I'd get to this point... but there is just too much freakin violence on TV shows. I realize it's the type of shows that I'm drawn too so its my own damn fault, however, I honestly have to tape my shows so I can fast forward through some of the scenes. I love American Horror Story, but I'm not sure I signed up to watch someone getting stabbed repeatedly in the stomach. I love Sons of Anarchy, but I'm not sure I signed up to watch someone get an icepick to the head. I stopped watching Grey's Anatomy when that crazy guy who's wife died shot the one nurse square in the forehead--- I for sure did not sign up for that. Am I being too sensitive?
I'm not bothered by nails or hair. I know to not cut my nails in public. I tend to see it more as a politeness thing, though, because I know people are grossed out by it or the sound can be irritating. I do admit to doing it on the train when I commuted every day, though. It calmed my stressed-out self down. But, I only did it if I was alone in the car.
On the flip side, I think throat clearing is raunchy and disgusting. It should be done out of earshot of other people at all times.
I'm guilty of throat clearing, but that's because of laryngopharyngeal reflux crap. It's hard to get rid of!
My uo is a lied about having cats at our board meeting last night and don't feel bad about it. Worst case scenario, I get my psych to write a note and register them as service pets. That or H suggested dressing up in cat costumes and saying it's our sex fetish and we were the ones meowing.

I haven't watched these shows, but I know the violence in Game of Thrones has sometimes made my jaw drop.
I didn't read the books so I had no idea what types of things they'd be showing. But I still love the show
I don't have HBO so I haven't even seen one episode, but I've heard it's pretty intense. I'd probably be fast forwarding through that too.

I think it sometimes depends on what you know you're getting into. I'm a big AHS fan, so I knew there was a character that was going to do those things (and, yeah, it's intense) and it's pretty par for the show. And, yeah, super-creepy (I'm interested to see how that storyline integrates, or, knowing how this show sometimes goes, if it does).

Absolutely, I really enjoy both shows, but some of these scenes in the episodes IMO are just getting a little out of hand. I will happily sit with my remote and fwd through them though!
I do like the shows, the characters, the storylines etc. but I don't like a particular scene watching someone getting stabbed in the stomach repeatedly or someone getting tortured and stabbed in the head. I just think it's taking it a step too far. In the scene, there was enough suspense and creepiness without having to watching a young kid getting his guts sliced up for 10 seconds.
So there is flu shot craziness, nail clipping nastiness, uncalled for Loki/Avenger hate and all I'm taking away is that I would have a really hard time deciding between a plate of donuts or a plate of dollars.
I'm sure you are all very grateful for my contribution.
Easy: pick the plate that would result in the most donuts. After all, you can always buy donuts with the dollars.
UO: on the track of fast forwarding ... I *hate* those really awkward parts in some movies. Where it's really intense and I actually get anxious watching it. Could be with relationships, or a poorly timed joke, etc. I physically cannot watch them, but that's a psychological issue I have and they make me nauseated. However, they can be in romcoms, dramas, etc and I'm not going avoid an entire movie just for a 1-2 minute scene.
But in reference to gore/excessive violence, at least they have a warning for that in the beginning of every episode.
The Dewey Decimal System sucks balls sometimes. I really want to shove all the nonfiction books with the picture books on the same subject so everything would be in one place.
I love that this is your UO, like all of us over here are like "oh shit, no she didn't just insult the Dewey Decimal System!"
then again, with all the librarians here I may be wrong
Who doesn't go to a library and is like, "This Dewey Decimal system thing is shit, just bring my book to me."
This is totally why I only read fiction. I'm taking a stand against the Dewey Decimal system and supporting librarians not having to get books for me.
Andplusalso most non-fiction makes my brain hurt after a long day of my work making my brain hurt.

I don't fast forward, but I will watch out of the corner of my eye or have my phone/a book and look down when I know something's going to go down. H was watching AHS from behind the computer last night for a little bit. I really like the story (and I'm really intrigued to see how the clown actually plays into everything), but I don't force myself to watch everything.
I don't have a big problem with clowns, but that one is damn terrifying. I knew that going in based on what the creators and actors have been saying about it, but it's probably one of the scariest things I've seen on TV in a while.

Maybe this belongs in FFFC, but I really did not know all this information about the flu shot. My thought process was never got a flu shot, never had the flu, I'm good...
I'm going to go into CVS and get one this weekend - thanks for the info!
This is me. My mom has a severe allergy to eggs so she doesn't get the shot. She never took my brother and I neither. So I've never had one as a child or as an adult. The flu shot thread opened my eyes for sure. Planning on getting my first ever shot early next week! I'm a little scared... Side note- I take my kids to get their flu shot every year.

Also, because it's quiet, if you don't get a flu shot and you don't have a medical reason to abstain, you're an idiot.
If you don't get a flu shot but you're stressed about ebola, you're an idiot who doesn't understand statistics.
Wow, that was way harsh. I'm not getting a flu shot because I don't want to. That does not make me an idiot. Assumptions like that does qualify one for idiot status.

I can't remember the last time I was legitimately sick, as in barfing and couldn't move sick. Because of this I choose not to bother getting a shot that I find unnesscary for myself. Sorry if that makes me an idiot?

Not to mention I also added in a different post that I looked like an ass because I responded before reading the entire thread and read all the good (pertinent) info on flu shots.....
So yeah...
Anyway, note to self never reply to anything before reading the whole thread first
If you are TTC you fall into that category as one who may become pregnant.
Yep and I unfortunately will have to get one this year. I don't like it, but I'll do it because I'm not only affecting myself at this point.
---quote box fail---
You are not only affecting yourself ever. There are people who can't get vaccinated because they are immunocompromised or have an allergy, and healthy people who avoid getting vaccinated are putting them at risk. Those people depend on herd immunity which in turn depends on healthy people getting vaccinated.
**stuck in box**
Welp I don't like the flu vaccine so I don't get it unless I have to. Washing your hands is the best deterrent against getting sick, so people who can't get it because of an allergy should put that to best practice.
So we'll all just agree to disagree and be moving on......
I haven't read ahead yet to see if anyone else mentioned this, but yes, I'll be sure next time I have a newborn to tell her to always keep her hands out of her mouth and face until mommy can thoroughly wash them. You know how obedient newborns are and how they never touch anything and then immediately stick their hands in their mouth.

Okay. I hate fruit (but I'm trying to like it) so I will eat the crust of a cobbler or fruit pie and leave the filling...like a child.
Irrationally terrified of zombies and vampires so I can't even watch previews with them.
Realizing today I am grossly ignorant about flu shots. I am totally pro vaccine but I thought only high risk people needed flu shots, which I realized today would include me anyway.
I think Thor is better looking than Loki. I love the Avengers, Superman, and Spiderman. Batman is just a rich kid with gadgets.
Oh and I can't handle gory violent shows so I don't watch them. The blood and stuff makes me feel nauseated.

*spoiler alert
I do like the shows, the characters, the storylines etc. but I don't like a particular scene watching someone getting stabbed in the stomach repeatedly or someone getting tortured and stabbed in the head. I just think it's taking it a step too far. In the scene, there was enough suspense and creepiness without having to watching a young kid getting his guts sliced up for 10 seconds.

I enjoy reality tv, true crime stories, lime-a-ritas, and pizza..
But in reference to gore/excessive violence, at least they have a warning for that in the beginning of every episode.

I don't have a big problem with clowns, but that one is damn terrifying. I knew that going in based on what the creators and actors have been saying about it, but it's probably one of the scariest things I've seen on TV in a while.

This. I don't get sick.... And I'm not just saying that. My "sick" is a slight runny/stuffed up nose for a short period. I can't remember the last time I was legitimately sick, as in barfing and couldn't move sick. Because of this I choose not to bother getting a shot that I find unnesscary for myself. Sorry if that makes me an idiot?
ETA: I was not aware that if you're TTC you should get a flu shot.... Yes, I'm aware that make me ill informed.

I think your reading comprehension needs work.
---------fucking quote boxes --------
I don't see how me saying I edited my post would make you think I don't have reading comprehension.... Unless I should have said "I edited my post to add"
And I guess I should add for those that don't want to waste time scrolling up to search for what I added, I said I was unaware that you should get a flu shot while TTC and that I'm aware that I'm ill informed....
Not to mention I also added in a different post that I looked like an ass because I responded before reading the entire thread and read all the good (pertinent) info on flu shots.....
So yeah...
Anyway, note to self never reply to anything before reading the whole thread first
I haven't read ahead yet to see if anyone else mentioned this, but yes, I'll be sure next time I have a newborn to tell her to always keep her hands out of her mouth and face until mommy can thoroughly wash them. You know how obedient newborns are and how they never touch anything and then immediately stick their hands in their mouth.

TTC #2 Since April 2017
Irrationally terrified of zombies and vampires so I can't even watch previews with them.
Realizing today I am grossly ignorant about flu shots. I am totally pro vaccine but I thought only high risk people needed flu shots, which I realized today would include me anyway.
I think Thor is better looking than Loki. I love the Avengers, Superman, and Spiderman. Batman is just a rich kid with gadgets.
Oh and I can't handle gory violent shows so I don't watch them. The blood and stuff makes me feel nauseated.
Whew. I think that about covers it.
Still working my way through this thread, but I had to say.... You have now become a new "Bump crush" of mine.
----why you no show up quote box?----
Yes! I got one ;-)
