Gooooood morning ladies!! Hey guess what day it is? That's right it's hump day! Also known as my A/S day! Whoop whoop! So guess who is bright eyed and bushy tailed before 5am?! This guy.
GTKY: one tradition from your childhood you want to (or already) carry on with your kids.
For me it was no homework Saturdays. My parents encouraged us not to do any school work on Saturdays because they believed kids need a break to just be kids.
Re: Hump Day Spam
GTKY: My favorite family tradition growing up has been our Christmas Eve. We would go to Mass together, pickup Chinese takeout on the way home, stuff our faces and then open one present. That one present always was and still is a pair of new pajamas. Then we all take a picture in our new PJs next to our stockings before going to bed. Nothing too unusual, but just thinking about it makes me happy.
My parents did a pizza and movie every Friday night. It was a simple easy tradition, but was something weekly we all did together.
@erobbins09 good luck at your a/s!
We have a pointless training at 8 this morning taking up every minute of our before- school planning time. Boo! I hate starting my day off like that!
On the plus side, I feel like the first two days this week flew by... Maybe today will as well??
Happy Wednesday to all!
@erobbins09 Good luck with the a/s!
I work in a small team at work of 3, myself and one of my coworkers are fed up with how incredibly lazy the third is and we spoke to our boss yesterday after she left "sick". He's going to talk to her today, which means she will cry like she always does but I hope it means she will actually help my other teammate while I'm on vacation next week... Because quite frankly, I don't want the "work sucks" texts while I'm gone or the updates when I get back

GTKY: every Christmas Eve the entire family goes to my grandma's house for dinner/gifts..always been my fav
GTKY: There are a few, but one of my favorites are our Christmas traditions. Going to the midnight candle light service, waking up and opening Santa's presents, and then having breakfast before opening all the family presents. Oh and Santa will bring her a new doll every year!

GTkY: we have a ton of traditions but one i love is thanksgiving brunch. My parents divorced whrn i was 6 so we had an every other holiday system. My mom hated not having thanksgiving every ither year so she started the tradition of thanksgiving brunch. We have a big breakfast with all kinds of specialties at around 10am (dinner is never til 6pm on dad's side) blueberry dumplings, eggs Benedict, bacon, sausage, pumpkin bread, mmmmmm. It works out fantastic now that most of us are married and trying to see everyone on holidays. We still have brunch at my moms and dinner elsewhere.

I wanted to ask you all, if you guys really get tired post work too? It's just half a week yet and I feel like it will be impossible to get through the whole week. It's kind of worrying me now. So if it's just me who feels extremely tired by the end of the day I think I need to talk to my doc.

GTKY: While I was in elementary and middle school my dad would surprise me at school once a month (it would always be a random day). He would go to the office and have them call me down and I'd get to leave for the day. We would go to a bakery right down the road and walk around one of the lakes. I'd always spill the gossip at school to him. I think it's why my dad and I have always been so close. DH and I both want to keep that tradition alive.

My mom had already contacted me this morning because she wanted to know if the flu must is more dangerous than the shot and to complain to me that the principal took spelling out of the 4th and 5th grade curriculum. I think I've convinced her to talk to a Dr about the shots and the teachers before talking to the principal about her lesson plan concerns. 8-} And all before 9 am.
GTKY: we always had large family meals for each holiday and would go around town looking at decorations for the decorating holidays (Christmas, thanksgiving, Halloween, the 4th and even easter). I want to keep those up because it's how I learned to cook and it was great family time.
Meetings all day today starting right now. BLAH.
GTKY: We had several traditions growing up, but one of my favorites has nothing to do with the holidays. Whenever possible (aka 95% of the time) we'd all eat dinner together, and talk about each kids' day - both what was awesome and what was not so great. I want to continue the daily focus, to maintain connection and involvement in their lives. There are tons of other ways to do this of course, I just really enjoyed the daily touch.
GTKY: Christmas morning brunch. My family goes all out with a bunch of goodies to eat, so I'd like to carry that on when the baby's a little older. My husband and I don't really do it right now (we do seafood dinners on Christmas Eve), but it's time to add the morning brunch in there.
Good luck today @erobbins09!
I love this GTKY Question! My mom would cook dinner most nights & we'd always eat at the dinner table & play high/low. You tell you high point of the day & your low point of the day. This is high on my family priority list. A family that says zero words to each other at dinner is one of my worst fears. Also on Christmas day, we'd always watch Christmas Vacation together at my Grandma's... soon will be our house

Quick question: I've started getting family members from OOT asking when our baby shower is and I still have not been told or asked which dates work for me nor for a guest list (my BFs are all procrastinators at times). The OOT family will be coming from NC, TX, GA so of course they need time to plan ahead especially the TX fam. How do I asked that question without being needy or anxious, or seem like I'm trying to dictate what's going on. My mom who's just helping even ask me this morning and offered to help them because she's a planner and knows I like to have stuff in order. And she is fully aware of my guest list and OOT family. Help please.
GTKY: Christmas Eve my cousins and I always make cookies to give to everyone in our family. I want to start a new tradition for my family for a family trip around that time. Of course this year is out cause I'm not gonna wanna travel during that time preggers but maybe next year. Also at Thanksgiving my husband and I have a small dinner at our house to get to spend time with our immediate family we cook the normal stuff but also cook other things as well. Like lasagna, salmon, grilled food etc. Needless to say our immediate family that comes over enjoys our house the most lol.
GTKY: Christmas Eve traditions as well! We go to Mass and then bake cookies for Santa w my inlaws and then go have our Christmas celebration with my dad and extended family. Even just thinking about this makes me excited! 2 months ladies!
Now I'm going to bitch! I have this friend who is pregnant too, and EVERY time I mention a food restriction she basically tells me I'm an idiot. Yesterday a mutual friend of ours brought in a freaking amazing looking turkey sandwich for lunch and I commented on how badly I wanted to steal it but since pregnant ladies aren't supposed to eat lunch meat (unless it's warmed up) that I would have to do w my chili instead. She basically said, "other than not drinking I didn't put any dietary restrictions on myself with my first"...
Well that's great but if I can protect my baby from even one more thing by denying myself something so stupid then I'm going to. This is the same friend who suggested I get rid of my 3 cats, that we've had for 4 years, when she found out I was pregnant.
