First, good luck and/or congratulations to everyone for their anatomy scans today!
Second, I hate home shopping in Austin. We show up with money in hand and there is some asshole on the phone that scoops it up 5 minutes before. I had my heart set on this one place with a study in the master that would have been ideal for lil ChickenHawke, no dice. TAKE MY MONEY!
Third, we were raised -ish and didn't celebrate anything around the holidays (there is the Giftmas Jar- which is a large jar of money collected throughout the year by everyone in the family and given to a stranger working during the holidays - it has been a busser at the Chinese restaurant multiple years running). BUT my father took us to the library every Friday. I would love to continue that tradition and for my girl to be as fond of stories as I am!
I hear ya, its rough. Where in town are you looking? South? You could always move north to the "burbs" of Georgetown. :P
We are at Anderson/Burnet right now and looking to stay in that area OR be right by Apple off Parmer. I just don't want to deal with traffic (and looking for an excuse to get rid of a car - I hate driving and our work provides shuttles). The burbs you get so much bang for your buck and great amenities, but I see that traffic every.single.day on Mopac...
I hear ya. We used to be off Howard and Dessau and I'd drive downtown every day. I really didn't think the extra distance to Georgetown would be that bad...but I spent 3 hours commuting a day. I totally lucked out and found a job in town. Not having to commute has been LIFE. CHANGING.
Just got back from my repeat a/s (they had to follow up on a few things they couldn't see last time because she was breech). Well...not a shocker to me, she was still breech and very low. Luckily they got the shots they needed though. My BP jumped to almost 140/80 - which is high for me because I was 110/68 last time! That makes me way nervous, but we'll see. Also...after getting praise for only gaining a pound last time...I gained EIGHT this time. I'm convinced they didn't weigh me right last time though. Anyways. Next time I have GD testing, Growth u/s, appt, and a rhogam shot scheduled. Holy long appointment.
ETA: I also found out that even though I got the Pertussis vac when I was preggo 2 years ago...They make you get it every pregnancy.
Aidan got another bad score today. Yuck! I think if it doesn't get better it's time for a change. I hate him having to come home with a bad score every day over the same things. Just frustrated and not sure what to do
I haven't gotten to read through everything yet, but wanted to say thank you to everyone for the travel advice yesterday! I did read it and was ready to go, but then thought...it would really be better if the same person was on both trips. I can't remember how much I told yesterday, but the trip was to Amsterdam to train folks in an accounting system for the Accounts Payable function. There's a trip in Nov for 2 weeks and then one in mid-Jan that I definitely couldn't do. After a lot of thinking, the only reason for me to go and not a member of my team is totally selfish...I just WANT to go! It would really be better if one person went both times, so one of the guys who works for me will be going. I'll help him get all his materials and all together before he goes so he's well prepared. I'm really sad about it and actually cried a little after I told him and went back to my desk (damn pregnancy hormones), but this is what's best for the project. (
Does anyone else's belly button feel like it's going to pop off? I'm an innie, and mine popped out around week 14-15. Lately it feels like it can't go out any further...kinda uncomfortable if that makes sense. DDs think it's funny to poke it.

Yep. I have noticed that is poking out. I hate it. LOL

Hehe yeah, and most of my maternity shirts/dresses are so thin, so you can see my belly button really easily.
@ckimberley14 it's the worst after I eat. DS loves pinching and poking my belly button now. He also compares it to himself and DH. I never thought a belly button could be physically painful.
@jennjilljoite Haha right? I've already resigned myself to the fact that my belly button will never, ever be the same. Just so my ring still looks okay. I'm about to inhale a big bowl of beef stew (it just finished!), so I'm prepped for the imminent belly button pain. It'll be worth it.
I have a super deep innie, I feel like it is so far away from popping.
I used to, as well...until my first pregnancy, and then it was like, past the point of no return. It never really went back in to where it was pre-pregnancy.
I'm so sleepy by the time I get through all the spam posts! It's interspersed with me doing actual work (imagine!), so I promise, I'm not just the world's slowest reader.
Congrats on great A/Ss for those who had them! Also, I really love reading about all your family traditions -- some really sweet ideas in there for when my kids are older!
GTKY: I don't think we had any major traditions growing up; my family isn't big on those. But my husband's family kinda is, though it's usually pretty casual stuff. One thing that I think is funny is that my husband is dead set on my daughter starting ski school over the holidays this year since she'll be about 3 1/2, which is when he started learning how to ski. His whole family skis/snowboards, so that's fine to me, since whenever they do that, I get lots of time to read books and drink hot beverages by the fire. Especially this year -- that's part of the deal where I agreed to travel that late in my pregnancy -- days and days of fireplace-adjacent reading and hot cider!
My only spam today is that avocados are the world's most glorious food, and I may have just polished off a humongous carne asada burrito (with sour cream, avocado, and cheese added!) for lunch. Also, I may fall asleep on my keyboard this afternoon as a result.

Good Evening ladies!! I all all caught up on the spam - even the weird SPPPPPAAMMMMMMM one, wtf?
GTKY: My family has a ton of traditions, but DH has none - literally zero, zip, zilch. Every year is different, every holiday is different. Drives me nuts! I finally was able to nail his parents down to Christmas Breakfast at our house and that has been going strong for 4 years! Woot woot.
One tradition I love is we all get together at my aunts on Christmas Eve. We feast, sing Christmas carols, and drink eggnog. We have a Yankee swap and then head on our way home. As kids we would put Santas cookies out, my mom would read a book and we went to bed. Simple, but perfect. We do/did it every year. I love the holidays. The reality of having a little one around next year is sinking in. I cannot wait!
I'm definitely noticeably pregnant now, where students are saying something, so I guess there's no more denying this is happening! I feel like I'm feeling more kicks, or flicks from baby boy. I feel like it happens when I'm gassy, but gas bubbles aren't near my belly button.
GTKY: this may make me a mean mom (according to DH), but my mom did something called a "no-thank you helping" at every dinner. We had to have a TINY amount of something we either never tried, or didn't like. And we had to eat it or no dessert or leaving the table. I love the idea now, because it made me try new things. Some I liked, some I didn't.
I like that tradition @ambz06060. I also feel more movement when I'm gassy, need to pee or am full. I attribute it to there being less room so she pushes and shoves for her spot.
Sorry @Paleomama =( hope your H straightens up soon. DH and I purposely spent the entire evening apart from each other to get some "me time" and hopefully so we will be nicer to each other tomorrow. Haha.
Can't wait to meet our darling daughter, Abigail Elizabeth

That sounds nice. I am so tempted to tell him just to leave but I am trying to remain calm. Tomorrow is always a new day. Just chillin with Aidan right now while he takes a nap.
Ugh @Paleomama I hate nights when it just seems like there is nothing I can say or do to make us get along. It is so frustrating!! I really hope your night improves.
Oh man, I am feeling feisty today. I have never been so glad that most of my work interactions with people are online (email, chatroom, tweets), because I have written some DOOZIES today, then smiled, deleted them, and then rewrote them as something more appropriate.
I sense that if I keep this up, I may get myself in trouble soon. :-\"

Just some random stuff: 1) Chimps are getting a court case for personhood. Hopefully they win.
2) Enterovirus D68 made it to my home county. Several people are calling it ebola and I am very salt not surprised that they don't know the difference.
3) DS gave my belly double knucks tonight and blew it up with both hands. I think he finally understands that there's a seperate entity in there.

Speaking of personhood bills. I haven't read too much into yet, or fact checked the article I just read, but apparently Colorado's personhood bill will give the police the authority look into miscarriages & stillborn births? The fuck?
But I'm still looking into it because I don't want to be a fear mongerer of yellow journalism. @jennjilljoite
Edit/edit It seems that deduction was made from the vote no67 coalition. I can see their point on how that could happen, but there is no specific wording in the bill that says there would be criminal investigation into a loss. They based that off that the department would be obligated to investigate any death of a person which would now include a fetus or loss.

I'm off to see what all that's about. I hadn't read that.
Eta: After reading it would give a fetus the same rights as a newborn. So any act to harm a fetus would punishable by law. I didn't see much more detail than that.
Well fuck. Ella just woke AGAIN crying hysterically an hour after going to sleep. DH just went in to hold her and rock her. This sucks. She hasn't woken up at night in months. I really hope she is not having bad dreams. Maybe two year molars are finally coming in...?
@lizzybean thanks. That I exactly how I feel sometimes. Hope you can figure out what is going on with Ella. Isn't this the second time she woke up today crying?
@foxslaw boys sure can be stupid. Hopefully tomorrow. I am just laying in bed right now enjoying some alone time. We were going to watch fringe tonight but that went out the window. I just feel sad and angry at the same time.

Yes @Paleomama it is. She woke up from her nap this way, and did the exact same thing last night. She was so worked up I had to rock her back to sleep. Tonight DH said she was sucking and chewing on the shoulder of his shirt. She has had her hands jammed in her mouth a ton lately, so I think she may be getting her two year molars. She doesn't have any of them yet.
