Here is a totally random spam for you:

I pee pretty much all the time now. As soon as I get back from the bathroom I feel like I have to pee again. If I were to start a thread on this, it would be "Peeing all the time- anyone else?????!!!??!?!?!?"

The answer is always yes, someone else has that problem :)
    ugh...yes!

Good luck, @Izzy0927‌! So I went to the Patriots game last night and it was awesome. So much fun. However, in the third quarter they pan to a Bengals player on the big screen and the announcer explains that his very young daughter is battling pediatric cancer. They show a video made by a cancer foundation that this little girl stars in, and it was the most heartbreakingly adorable/tragic thing I've ever seen. It's set to "True Colors" (I can't even) and shows tiny little kids running through the hospital with their tiny bald heads. Right as the video ended, the Patriots cheerleaders took off their jackets to show they're wearing Bengals jerseys, and the announcer says the Pats are donating $25,000 to that particular foundation. You guys - WATERWORKS. I was a snotty, hysterical mess. They can't do shit like that without giving pregnant ladies warning!! It took me a good 10 minutes to get myself under control. Those little bald heads killed me!! And the dad (who was playing) was crying on the sidelines. Heartbreaking!!!

First off, HELL YEA Pats over the Bungles... made my morning hearing they lost!

But really, that is awesome! I can't even right now (can you say "Hot Mess"?!) Really shows you what it should be all about, made me tear up reading this post and if I could love tit it a million times I would! Very classy move by the Patriots.

I've been experiencing this too! I just feel like I'm stretching A LOT. I think it's normal, but might not hurt to email or call your ob just for peace of mind. Stretching & laying on my left side helped me a little. @chickyclg‌

Do they happen randomly? Or is there a pattern?

If they are random, it's likely BH or round ligament. If they happen oh, like 20-30 minutes apart they could be real contractions (but nothing to worry about unless they happen more than 4 times in 1 hour).

If you are really worried, call the doc, but you could try chugging water and putting your feet up for a while. I get random aches and tugs a lot lately and have started chugging water dutifully and it seems to help.

  • Good morning (or afternoon), ladies! As always, after reading through four pages, I have to just say: I agree with all of you, and you're all looking quite lovely and being particularly witty today. :x :x :x

I just wanted to drop this article here -- read it this morning, and while some of us already have children and some don't yet, I thought it was thought-provoking and interesting for anyone who's planning on parenting kids in the US (which I think is most ladies here?).

PS if you want to lose, like, a LOT of time today, this roundup of observations is sorta a companion piece to the series that this blog has done for the last two summers that's an examination of what it's like for (American) mothers to parent while living in other countries.

  • @AprilRose1 I wouldn't leave the big items off your Amazon registry. Some of the bigger items may be cheaper there and people with Prime will get free shipping.

  • Ugh, my side pain is back in a nasty way. I don't even know what it could be. It's a sharp pain in my right side under my ribs, but it is NOT in my abdominal area--like literally, draw a line straight up from the outside portion of your hip and stop where the ribs start. My OB checked my liver enzymes last time it was hurting (I guess increased levels can be indicative of gallstones) and everything looked fine. It usually lasts for a couple of hours. I'll go ahead and request an ultrasound of the area at my appt in a week, but does anybody have any thoughts at all?? I guess it could just be stuff stretching...it's just super painful.

Maybe all your organs mushing up into each other making room for that baby!

I'm going to start talking about baby showers. This is your last chance to scroll by.

My aunts, Tica (grandmother), and cousin are all planning my shower for here in Austin. I offered my house because I want to invite a lot of people (BF & I have large families & a large social circle) but they are wanting to do it at a restaurant or some kind of hall? I'm fine with that, but I feel guilty because they are asking me to give them a guest list of how many people to invite & the bare bones guest list is around 60 people. I feel that it's going to end up costing them so much more money doing it this way & I feel guilty about it. They haven't put a limit on it or anything, or given me a number to keep it between, but I just get all paranoid about them being passively upset that I want so many people to come. This is a big deal to them because I never graduated college, or got married, so this is the first big "adult event" that they get to celebrate in my life. I just don't want to seem demanding or inconsiderate.

Edit: they also don't want my mom involved (so she decided to plan a shower in the woodlands, my hometown) so I've been trying to stay out of that too. My mom is understandably hurt, and I don't know how to A) stay out of it or B) gently let them know it hurt her feelings & get her involved in the Austin shower too. I mean I am *her* kid, so I get where my mom is coming from, but a selfish part of me wants to just stay out of it
  • @musicgirl524‌ I don't want to scare you but that sounds similar to the pain I had with a kidney stone that I literally just passed this weekend. Have you had a urinalysis recently? They can also do an u/s of your kidney(s) and bladder.

In other news I think DH is lying to me =( the doc gave me an Rx for hydrocodone for pain during my kidney stone. DH asked if he could have one bc his ankle "really hurt". I told him no. I have a brother who is a drug addict and I really don't think you should ever take something that isn't prescribed to you. Since I have an addict brother I'm obsessed with counting my pills. Well, one is missing. I'm 100% sure. DH claims he didn't take it. And is getting angry with me for accusing him. Which I feel like is defensive behavior. I know I should let it go but it bothers me he would lie.

super interesting article! I agree that there does seem to be a ton of division in parenting styles in the US and books seem to encourage that. It's always one philosophy or another and as a FTM, it's hard to reconcile between them and come up with a balance.

One thing a friend in Spain thought was so weird and so "Hollywood" was the baby shower concept. People are starting to have them now, but they're still pretty uncommon.
I don't have that much more experience, as this will be my second, but I think I can say this: you end up doing whatever works. And usually that's determined by how much you value various aspects of your life as a parent and person. I have friends who totally stick with parts of their "philosophy" way past a place where I would have stopped personally, even if I totally agreed with the philosophy. And I have friends who I thought would be really gung ho, who surprisingly (to themselves too!) tried something, decided it wouldn't work, and just stopped.

For me & my husband, we both knew we liked to sleep before we had our daughter, like we were never those people who are like, "we can't sleep in past 8 on the weekends!" -- but it wasn't till we confronted what we were like on Such Little Sleep from an infant at home that we knew that we'd make choices that involved trying to get both of us as much sleep as possible, so we could be better parents (in our own judgment). But I never would have really known that until I was in that situation.

So I think it's a good idea to familiarize yourself with various schools of thought, but I definitely would plan on being pretty flexible when the time comes. :)

  • "Look I know you are pregnant..."

Omg I could kill my professor!! I just got out of a class where the prof and I don't see eye to eye. It's not a big deal but he works off intimidation and because I'm older than the 21 year old girls in my course, that doesn't fly with me.

He shows up 12 minutes late and while waiting I was taking care of client emails.. He comes right up to me looks at the computer and freaks that I'm doing something that doesn't have to do with his course. I ignore it.

A while later he comes up to me and goes "look, I know you are pregnant.." And I defensively go "I haven't used that as an excuse on anything..." (I maintain a 3.9 gpa, I attend class..wtf) and he goes "I am trying to help you! I just feel like maybe you won't be able to keep up with the pace of the course so I am letting you know that if you need special treatment we could find a way to accommodate things."

Firstly, now unprofessional. Secondly, where is this coming from? I'm not behind in anything. And thirdly, I didn't know what to say because if I have a complication I may need to take him up on that... I guess I'm just annoyed that he brought up my pregnancy as a weakness or something that will prevent me from doing things. Am I just being a crazy defensive hormonal pregnant lady?

How do y'all feel about MLMs (multi-level marketing co's)?  I.e. Lia Sophia, Mary Kay, Jamberry nails, etc.  You know, where sellers host "parties" either online or in homes.

I buy and obtain all my cosmetics/jewely/nail décor in person and not through any of these sources, so I am pretty neutral to the idea.  But I always find I am slightly saddened (offended?) when friends or family suddenly try and get me to host a party or recruit me.  Feels like I'm being used so you can profit.  I ended up on DH's friend's wife's (you follow?) email list for Rodan & Fields cosmetics and her "personal" emails are so poorly mail merged "Hi Nbad!  How's the weather in Atlanta??"  I just.... sigh and move along.

I'm a special snowflake when it comes to MLMs. I ignore/get annoyed when people invite me to stuff that I'm not interested in but if I am interested in it I'm excited. Haha.

For example, I love thirty-one gifts and actually just hosted a party this weekend. But, I hate hate HATE makeup parties and get super annoyed when invited to them. I don't think anyone is trying to offend you (or me) when inviting us to these things. Perhaps just seeing if you're interested.

Maybe you (and I for that matter) should try messaging these people back saying something like "thanks so much for the information, but that's really not something I'm interested in. Would you mind taking me off your list? Thanks so much!"

  • @nbad311 I don't mind going to any of these parties, but I don't like feeling like I have to have one.  When I have one, I make sure to tell everyone I expect NOTHING.  I don't expect them to buy anything (and some don't) or host a party.  I LOVE Lia Sophia though, so I have parties so I can get free/discounted stuff.  I've done a few others and I like Pampered Chef too, but the lady that did my parties is way to pushy, so I haven't had one in a long time.

  • So, I went to NYC this weekend and as I was waiting to board the plane to come home I sneezed.
I am a multiple sneezer and usually sneeze in 3s - which I did this time.
A man standing 2 people in front of me turned around and said 'hope it is just allergies'
I just made some noncommittal noise but I REALLY wanted to reply ' NO I HAVE THE EBOLA - be afraid!!!' however, since my trip to NYC was not the best, and I really wanted to get home on schedule - I didn't - in case someone took me seriously.

I get really annoyed at how the media has been sensationalizing the Ebola thing (I mean there are constantly people 'with ebola' - that don't actually have Ebola)

THEN, after we landed in ATL he got on the same airport tram as me to baggage claim, and AGAIN mentioned 'are your sneezes better?' UGH WTF weird man? I ignored him that time.
  • Hi guise!! I feel like it's been an eternity since I've been able to post on TB. Finally got away from work long enough to quickly read thorugh the spams and glad everyone is doing "ok". Hoping the ones that don't geel good, feel better!

I had an appointment his morning with my doctor to talk about the SUA - Single Umbilical Artery, (2 vessel cord). He's ordered a scan at 28 weeks. Says everything else seems to look good. I'm measuring where I should and her scans look good. But we will know more in 7 weeks. Hoping she continues to grow! FX and trying not to stress, too much. I also got my dates for my glucose test. Yick.

Oh and then the doctor stops and said, "there's something I want to discuss with you..." I held my breath for a minute and he says, "your weight". :-O Crap! Apparently I've gained 11lbs in ONE MONTH! Oops! I think I've taken the "I'm eating for two" a little too seriously. He said he wants me to start walking after dinner. I've never had an issue with my weight and have always been thin. I still look thin, except for my thighs, butt, and of course belly. Boo! No more french fries for me!! Looks like I need to invest in some decent walking shoes.

@chickyclg‌, I wouldn't worry about it unless they come every x number of minutes (more than 4 tines an hour) and are consistent. It's probably just BH which is not a bad thing, just annoying.

@musicgirl524‌, I'm sorry. Hopefully it's just your body rearranging.

@foxslaw‌, that's a tricky situation. If it's a stupid rain for not wanting her involved than I would mentiin that it might be nice to have the whole family together but if it's serious I would stay out of it. I understand your pain to some extent because I'm the mediator of my family. I'm expected to resolve every dispute.
