Re: MOTN Check-In

  • Hugs all around. Sounds like a shitty night for everyone. It's almost 4 a.m., and I've gotten about two hours of sleep. I'm hoping DH will take her after this feed.

  • Kicking myself for not taking the surgeons offer to have my gallbladder removed Thursday. Another ER visit last night because of freaking stones. Luckily DH got a good five hours of sleep before. LO was a great baby before we went in and during. LO has been having a rough week sleeping at night with fussiness and gas pains.

So ready for Tuesday to come to get it out! Was on the fence about the surgery just getting in my head about the anesthesia and recovery, but after another night of pain where I could barely walk, talk or breath, bring it on! And totally did it to myself ... Had four bites of fried rice. Couldn't resist. Stupid stupid stupid.

@JanisBaby14‌ good luck! I had mine out in 2008 and have felt great since
Just make sure to eat sort of low fat in the weeks after, it helps your body get used to not having a gallblader

  • Spoke too soon. I put him in his pack n play, went to the bathroom only to come back to hear him fussing.
He sounds congested. Was hoping he would just fall back asleep. No luck. I'm back trying to get a sleepy baby to nurse.
I've slept 1.5 hrs tonight. My dh has been blissfully snoring away.

    There were just tears. Sigh.

As much as i want to still go to bed at 11, 12 o'clock, i think i need to start going to bed early to get any sort of sleep

  • She finally fell asleep... just in time for me to wake her for her next feed. or at least it felt like that. I'm not sure if I just got 15min of sleep or an hour. Either way... not enough. Lord help me stay awake at this pump.

  • Now I'm not sure what to do. He just ate for 15 mins in one side and is sleeping again. I should force him to take the other side I'm sure but i just don't want that battle

probably depends on if you want him sleeping longer and battle now or just sleep now and probably wake up earlier. or at least that's my logic on it assuming he's not as full as normal.

  • We stayed up until after 1am watching a movie while the baby slept. I have already been up 45 minutes feeding, burping, changing, feeding again and soothing him back to sleep. I am so exhausted and dh is snoozing and snoring away. I knew I should have slept during that movie but nope. Now I'm paying for it. Please, handsome little man, please sleep until 7 or even 8 would be amazing!

Every two hours still has me getting mad at her and then feeling like the worst mom in te world for getting frustrated and crying anouty that. Holy hell I need sleep.

(Hugs) is she back above birth weight? Can you let her sleep a little longer? We were just able to start doing that.
She wakes up on her own. I would never wake her up haha. She was sleeping 4-5 hours early on and now I get only 2.

  • We went to bed late so we just completed our first and only MOTN feed after 5.5 glorious hours of sleep for the first time. Now DS is passed out on my chest and I can't help but feel so thankful and blessed as I listen to him and DH snore together. Life is good!
  • I'm sad I had to wake DD up myself after she's been asleep for 4 hours and would have kept going but I really want to make this mastitis better instead of getting too engorged again. Here's to hoping she'll sleep good after for another 4 hours

ETA: for your entertainment - a girl I went to high school with is all over FB complaining that people didn't stay long enough at the diaper party she threw for herself. I'm not sure what time it started because I declined the FB invite as soon as I realized what it was (it literally started with, "we are in need of diapers since new DD will be in them at least the next two years.") and she's pissed because people were gone by a quarter after 10pm. WTF?

She threw herself a diaper party! So Klassy!

Damn after reading so Klassy, I have Fancy by Iggy Azalea in my head. I'm so fancy ... Blah blah
  • About to put LO back down for sleep. I got 1 hour of her in bassinet before this feed. I hope she will sleep again in bassinet even if for only another hour I will just be happy she is making more progress.

  • @Bella2425‌ My LO started eating 1-2 hours at a time, and then, more recently, he got down to 30 mins. Now he's going through a growth spurt, so he is back to eating about an hour at a time, but this is 30 mins on each side. Honestly, I've heard it depends on how efficient they are at getting milk, and how hungry they are. When you find out, let me know. I'm just happy when LO is not cluster feeding for hours in end.
  • @Ahlome08‌ he has a tongue tie so maybe that's it? We see the pedi tomorrow but the lc at the hospital says it probably needs to be clipped but I'm not having pain so I don't know...

9pm here. The witching hour has begun

I seriously checked if it was a full moon because our normal hour of fussing was just about 5hours... and I hope I'm not jynxing myrself but she's finally down after 4 diaper changes, two GIANT feeds, pacing thr halls, rocking in the swing, being swaddled and unswaddled, pacifiers being spit across the room... I can keep going on everything I tried to get more than 5min of not crying.

eta- oh and throw in me breaking down and crying with her

  • Can't stop marathon watching real housewives- will regret this in a few hours I'm sure.
  • 2:15 here. DH gave LO a bottle about an hour ago so I could sleep. But then he wouldn't go down. So I woke up to take care of him while DH went to sleep. DH has been so awesome at helping with the motn feeds this weekend so I can get rest. Back to the work week though, so back to no sleep for me :/
I did finally get LO to sleep, now I need to put him down in his bassinet...Please don't wake up!

  • LO is finally asleep and what did I just hear/smell... a giant poop. Dangit! Hopefully he sleeps and doesn't start screaming bloody murder when I change him.

Same thing just happened to me. I'm tempted to but even change him. Kidding....sort of haha

  • Hoping and praying tonight is not life last night lo threw up twice when feeding at 9:30. I'm starting to wonder if he is getting too much too fast.

He slept 3.5 hrs, ate 15 mins on both sides, now I'm just holding him a he sleeps so he doesn't spit up. Hoping he will sleep at least 3 hrs, rather than 45mins like last night.

  • It's 11:30 here and baby girl has been asleep for 2 hours already...I should probably go to bed. FI chastised me today about falling asleep while nursing and waking up with her asleep on my chest an hour or more later. Buuuutttt this is coming from the guy that gets to sleep through the night and still takes a nap during the day. Grrr.

  • Rough night tonight....even more so than last night. DD fell asleep at 8 so I tried to put her in the crib...she woke up immediately and threw a fit. She wouldn't go back to sleep, so I held her while we watched Boardwalk Empire. She did finally fall asleep...but then I spent from 10-12 trying to get her to sleep in her crib. I'd get to my bed, lay down, and about 2 minutes later she'd start to cry. Finally, after some tears, DH offered to take her for a bit since she just wanted to be held.

Flash forward to 2:15 and she's crying again...I'm almost done with her feeding and just really hoping she goes right back down. Idk why all of a sudden she immediately wakes up when placed on her back...so frustrating!

  • The past four nights we had terrible terrible witching hours starting between 4-7 and going between 10-midnight.

Well, tonight to avoid these things I let him have his naps on my chest. He slept like a dream. Apparently this comes at a cost of the overnight sleeps. Aghhhhh

cause of fussiness earlier may be what caused the poopslposion that happened sometime between the midnight feed and 3am. She didn't wake to fuss so I'm hoping it happened closer to 3am and not after I checked her around midnight. I guess she was too exhausted to wake up and let me know she had a massive poopy diaper.

  • Why did my baby all of a sudden decide that sleep was overrated?

And how the fuck is DH sleeping through her screams?? I need him to take a few of these fuss-fests so I can sleep a little.

  • I've spent the last 4 hours trying to get LO to bed. :((
  • I'm exhausted. We're still feeding every 3-4 hours. I feel like I have only just closed my eyes when it's time for the next feeding. DD is congested. I can't tell if it's normal newborn nose or if she's getting something. It worries me with all this crap going around.
  • @Bella2425‌ ah, I didn't realize your LO had a tongue tie. FX clipping it fixes the feeding issues. My LO does not have a tongue tie, hr just feeds long sometimes, but, thankfully, he ended up sleeping nearly 5 hours after that hour feed. I needed the sleep, because I've been getting only 2 at a time for the last few days.
