    A couple thoughts:  I think the first child shower is standard, but if your friend wants to throw you a shower now that you're having a boy, that's great and super generous of her.  Not everyone has a friend like that, so feel blessed that you do have a super awesome and supportive friend.  As for the coworker, it doesn't sound like you two are really friends.  I mean, I certainly wouldn't tell a friend that I'm not going to her shower and not giving her a gift because she should be able to buy everything for herself, lol!  But, if a coworker invited me to a shower for a third child, I probably would not feel inclined to go.  But then again maybe just not going is even more rude?  What can I say, I don't like confrontation.  Also, I wouldn't invite a coworker to a shower unless they are someone I would be friends with regardless of being coworkers.

    All the responses to my post prove my point. Most of you who are for one trying to judge me, and don't know me of course, are just Internet bullies. The same kind of women who get on FB and proclaim how much better you are than someone else. The same meek women who can't be a boss at home or in the workplace so they get online and become gangstas. My feelings are mine so if I want to be a WK I most certainly will. The sad part is all she asked for is your opinion on one topic. She didn't ask "can you go through my story and pick the part that you feel strongly about and tell me how you feel". Just remember nasty mouth people that you get what you sow.
    And to the smart fool that said I must have had abortions and no birth control that's why I said that to her, actually I never got pregnant as a teen. I got pregnant when I was married. My kids were planned. But omg, I actually know people that have had these things happen to them. That's life idiot, you don't always get to plan everything. Have a great day ladies

    Let me clarify.... I am upset at what she said. As it was hurtful and something I never expected to hear from a friend. I do NOT care about the gifts. I will always find a way to get my children everything they need. The baby shower my friend is throwing is nothing but a celebration of the life I'm bringing into this world. And good food of course! I ONLY want people to attend to see them, talk, have a great time, and basically just have adult time eating good food! It suckered that she doesn't want to be a part of my special day. The other thing that upset me was just the fact that she said I SHOULDNT get to have a shower because I SHOULD be able to afford everything for my children. IT IS NOT ABOUT THE GIFTS. IT IS ABOUT FRIENDS BEING THERE FOR EACH OTHER WHEN THEY SHOULD BE. :)

    Then why even bother telling us about your friend's fabulous life? I don't begrudge my friends of any success or gifts that come their way. I also had people not attend my shower...so should I assume they are not there for me?

    @Octobermommy101012 ... I can't even. If you are really her friend you should be talking to her about these feelings, not posting on an internet forum. If you aren't really her friend then let it go, obviously you aren't on the same page about the shower thing or your lifestyles.

    Here's the thing, if you wanted people to come support you or w/e, you would just have a regular get together without mentioning the baby.  Showers are literally meant to "shower" the MTB with gifts.
