Today is my last day at work. I am wearing sweat pants because that is how much I care about today.

I also brought 4 doughnuts and a half gallon of chocolate milk for breakfast/snack. I am drinking the milk right out of the carton.

I think I am really starting to freak out about breastfeeding. I mean, generally we are doing ok with it but I don't think she is eating as long as other babies, nor with the same frequency. I can't wake her to save my life. I'm starting to worry about my supply. It takes her like 10 minutes before she gets a proper latch every time. Yesterday was her first pedi appointment. She was 6 lb. 1/2 oz. birthweight was 6 lb 3 oz. we go back Monday for a weight check. I was grateful I didn't have my pump yet because it forced me to keep trying but I'm starting to wish it would get here already. Maybe that's my confession for the day.

I really need to start walk/running in the mornings. I feel like it may help my energy and stress through the day.

I don't want to go to my appointment today. I hate the scale, hate the wait, hate the "nothing has changed see you next week"

It is just not a good day. I don't want the baby to come early, I'm actually hoping for a little after my due date to be honest - but I'm sort of tired of all the appointments. And I totally feel for those of you who have multiple in a week. I would go crazy!

My ds had a tongue tie that wasn't severe either, but we had it corrected at 2 weeks old anyways. It took him a little while to learn how to nurse correctly after that, but it made a world of difference and allowed my severely damaged nipples to heal. Also, laid back nursing as someone suggested yesterday was much more tolerable for both of us.
A week does seem like a long time to wait, but I hope it makes as big of a difference for you as it did for us.

A coworker brought donuts in, and I chose what I thought was a nice cream-filled one from the box. I should've looked more carefully before biting into it. It was jelly-filled. :-&

Now it's in the garbage.

Crazy Prego Dream #1:

I sat down to use the potty and felt a huge pressure released, I got up and realized I had my baby in the toilet! I started to panic and run around the whole house.

Moral of the story: don't watch 'I didn't know I was pregnant' before bed.

Crazy Prego Dream #2: I turned into a super ninja after someone shot my DH in our entryway.

Moral of the story: wtf, I have no freaking idea.

I'm sorry you're having a rough time. It can take newborns a while to learn to latch quickly, but she'll be a pro before you know it.

What do you try to help wake her up for feedings? Changing her diaper, leaving her in just a diaper for the feeding, tickling her feet and neck and ears, blowing air gently into her ears and on her ribs (tickles!), and even the corner of a washcloth dipped in cool water and placed against her cheek, can all help sleepy newborns wake up.

Ideally she'll get a good feeding (~20mins or so) every 2-3 hours, and she can nurse on demand in between. Newborns are notoriously sleepy, and it can be such a challenge to keep them awake to make sure they're getting enough! Hang in there, though! The sleepiness usually doesn't last too long.

Most doctors would like babies to be back at their birthweight by 2 weeks old. Lots of skin-to-skin will encourage her to nurse more frequently and will cause hormone release in you that will increase milk production. If the two of you can hang out shirtless together under a blanket for a good part of every day, that will do so much for both of you!

@Emerald27‌ Thank you. It's just a bit overwhelming at times. All other signs point to her doing just fine and I know there are a lot more difficult situations like when DD1 would latch at all or when DD2 could have my milk due to medications I was taking but I guess I'm just feeling anxious today. I want her to gain the 2.5 oz we are hoping for by her appointment Monday morning.

Thanks for all the wishes! He's fine and placenta appears fine. NST took a bit longer bc he was sleeping at first, and I got lectured by 3 nurses I need to eat more. Thanks for that.

I just had a chocolate chip granola bar for a snack and there was ONE chocolate chip in it. One. It wasn't even generic brand! I am irrationally upset about this.

Also, DH just sent me a picture of my favorite slippers that our dogs decided to eat this morning. They never eat shoes...why now! I was going to take those babies to the hospital

I'm so glad this isn't a thing in the US. Though, I guess it could potentially help mothers at high risk for PPD, that is if it doesn't make them feel worse about themselves.

@MonstoMommy‌ I'll help with your DH if you'll help with mine. He told me last night that me still being pregnant is just as painful for him as it is for me, since he has to put up with me being cranky.

Reminds me I need to bake some goodies for DH to take to work! I really have the itch to bake as well. I will need to do this Sunday maybe, and I can make another random stop in his office on Monday

Good excuse to bake and not have all of the temptation around to eat ALL of the goodies

I'm due Tuesday and I have no issues other than a kid who doesn't get the gist of moving down the birth canal..

Doc said she is so comfortable in my ute....at least she is safe there.

Nope you are not the only one! I am excited to see this LO, but the baby will come when it comes. Not going to worry about it too much. My due date is Wed. and just happy the baby didn't come too early. I am just trying to go about daily life as normal right now

Our hospital highly suggests having your car seat installation inspected by your local police station. They go to the extent of finding the closest station to you, and providing you with all of their information to make sure you do this... Well this is great and all...
Except when you have a police station that you have called 8 times to be exact and are always told somebody will call you back and you never receive a call back....

Also we live in a super low crime rate area... Speeding tickets are about all the excitement you get around here..

I have a pre-birthday date night planned tonight with DH! \:D/ Probably our last before LO comes. I'm so excited! We're going to Bonefish Grill (never been but have always wanted to) for dinner and then seeing Gone Girl, which came out in theaters today. Work is going to drag!

Happy birthday to those celebrating, good luck to those who need it in L&D and with other monitoring, and congrats on the good NST @golfingdarwinfish.

This morning I woke up laying on my belly (no idea how that happened) and when I went to get up, I was in excruciating pain. It's not the baby--I can feel baby moving around down low. This pain was up high right underneath my boobs, like I'd squished all the other organs that got moved up into my lungs. Awful. But on the bright side, today is (hopefully) my last day in the office. I'm hoping to work from home on Monday and Tuesday, and then next Wednesday is the start of my maternity leave! I guess the motivation of impending leave was enough to get my ass in gear and get me to close out case files, finish up lingering work, etc.
