@lizjennings81 not sure if you see an OB or midwife, but I've always gotten mine done at the OB during pregnancy. Doesn't hurt to check if they offer them!

  • I am starting to have an anxiety attack about getting DS first haircut this weekend, I know, I know, I am not one to get weird about these things but for some reason I am really getting sad about him losing his long curls.

DH has been on me to have his hair cut for weeks now, and we have a special family day planned where we all can go and take pictures and such of this "first" milestone.

but I just start getting second thoughts and feeling anxious about it when I run my hands through his baby curls.

I was like that when we cut DS's hair. I waited until he was a year old. We were able to make 2 small piggy tails by his neck (his hair was long). Once we had his hair the hair ties, DH cut them off. I cried, but almost 3 years later, we each have a lock of his baby hair.

Funny story, DH wanted to be the first to cut his hair, he did a horrible job so we had to take him to get it fixed. He looked like such a big boy.

I don't judge if you cry.

They are THE best! It hardly hurts and it's like in and out in 15-20 mins max. And their prices aren't insane either. There really is something to their "patented wax."
Awesome!!! DH is totally on board, so hooray! :)

  • In a tiny bit of a funk today.  I signed up way earlier this year for Tower of Terror 10 mile race in Disney World. (if anyone doesnt know, the Rundisney races fill up like within hours so you have to sign up right away).  It was going to be my first "big " disney race.  I did a 5k there before, and have done two half marathons, but it was my real one at disney. Well, I could have probably still done it being pregnant and all but decided to defer it until next year so I can use it as my motivation to get back out there after our little girl is here.

But now I am seeing all the friends headed down for the race.. I'm kind of in a funk.  (It doesn't help that we have a Disney vacation scheduled at the end for the end of the month with DH, and lots of friends. And that I am desperate to take time off since I have literally only taken days off for Dr's appts.)

    Anyway.. I'm just in a funk.  :(

@nbad311‌ If my bump is out I use the spots unless I really just need the exercise after a lazy day.

My random: MIL went for surgery at 8 (procedure is scheduled to start at 10:30). At 8:30 my mom texts asking if she should take my 11 year old sister to the ER. Apparently my sister had a period intermittently for 24 days in September. In the middle of asking if they should go to the ER my mom gets a call from the school and my sister is bleeding through her pads in less than an hour. it's going to be a long, worrisome day.

    Positive: DS slept until 8:45.

  • Lily is acting up in school. I'm not sure what to do to discipline her either. She's been a little aggressive because of her medicine and she's been on it for a little over 2 years. But now she's slapping and scratching people. I feel bad for the teachers. She knows better than to hit me or DH. The teachers think she can sense baby bro is coming and is acting out. Any moms of toddlers, what kinds of things do you do to discourage bad behavior?
That's what it sounds like to me--she's projecting her fears and self-doubt onto other children. I looked on Dr. Sears' site, and there was some good info on how to prepare an older sibling for the new arrival: https://www.askdrsears.com/topics/parenting/discipline-behavior/bothersome-behaviors/sibling-rivalry/introducing-new-baby-11. I'll bet there's helpful info on how to deal with Lily's behavior, too. There's a whole section on discipline and behavior. Hope this helps!
Thank you! I'm hoping that this isn't the issue because she usually loves babies.
It might be that she's afraid of the baby "taking away all mommy and daddy's love" from her, as well as she's not going to be the center of attention anymore. It's natural for older siblings (particularly toddlers) to feel jealous and afraid of an impending new arrival. I've read/heard stories about dogs acting similarly, not to compare your daughter to a dog! Not sure if you're old enough to have seen the Ramona series made for TV, and on one of them, Ramona and Beezus are going to have a new brother or sister (can't remember--it's been ages since I watched it). Ramona got "siblingitis" and thought she had a fever and red spots all over her body. It was her worry about the new sibling, and her dad explained it to her and gave her a special drink to "cure" her. It was a really yummy strawberry smoothie, and I even made it for my 6th grade class. :)

  • Thanks @AF9211‌. I'm sure MIL will be fine so I'm only slightly worried about her but I'm stressing over my sister. I know that there could be many very bad issues that affect her period like that and she's only 11 so she's never talked to anyone but my mom about her period but today she may have to show everything off to a complete stranger while she's at her most vulnerable. I'm worried about get physical health and her emotional pain and embarrassment.

I woke up with the worst heartburn. I also went to bed with the worst heartburn. I was also awake from 3 -4. I feel hung-over.

On another note, I was feeling like crap yesterday. I know this is superficial and not a big deal, but I feel gross. I've never had bad self-esteem. When I was pregnant with DS, I felt so beautiful and comfortable. I loved being pregnant, I felt the glow. This time, not so much. I just feel huge and gross. It takes so much effort just to feel descent. I had some acne with DS, but it cleared right away. This time, as soon as one goes away, I get a cluster of more, AND my eyebrows are falling out/ thinning.

I pulled out my old maternity clothes and they are so baggy still. I still have so much more to go and I'm hoping I get out of this funk soon. I really want to enjoy this pregnancy and feel confident.

I know this may sound shallow, but I think I need to either get a new hair-do, a new color, or maybe a really nice maternity outfit. Which bring me to my next vent, I am so annoyed Forever 21 discontinued their maternity line. I can't find anything anywhere.

In the end, all that matters is my healthy baby girl, even if that means no eyebrows.

  • So yesterday I got a temporary crown put on and my tiith prepped for a reak crown on the 15th. Dh said he was un too much pain to do anytging so U called my dentist before the appointment and asked if he could check on his mouth to see what was up since he got the tooth pulled.

:( the tooth right next to the one pulled is abscessed. Badly. So he was given a stronger antibiotic an give another pain killer but one he can use while working.
Apparently getting the wisdom tooth pulled triggered the infection to spread thats why hes in so much pain.

So wisdom tooth site has healed perfectly we just now need to make an appointment about a root canal. Which my insurance wont cover until April first. So we are debating on if we should apply for a care credit cards or not.
Has anyone had one of those kinds of credit cards?

Our office accepts care credit - they can be really great. It's usually interest-free for 6 to 12 months (the office pays the interest, but not you) but make sure you have it paid off before the end of that period. If not, I believe you have to start paying very high rates (I believe around 20%) on the entire original rate, not just the remaining balance.

Definitely read the fine print, but I think they are great if you know what you are getting into.

Another option is a dental school. I know people are sometimes hesitant, but you can get great care. My husband had his implant done by a resident when I was a dental student, and my wisdom teeth were extracted by a resident as well. It takes more time, but can be a great option if you have the time to spend.

Last, even if your insurance won't cover the root canal, they are usually contracted with your in-network dentist to charge a lower fee. So if the root canal is usually $1,000 but the contacted fee is $600, the dentist can't charge more than $600, even if the insurance won't kick anything in.

    Good luck!

  • Good morning ladies! I'm going to see Gone Girl tonight, so excited! DH was like "it doesn't come out until Friday" and I had to burst his bubble that movies come out on Thursdays now because of so called "midnight showings" all day. LOL! I think he was hoping I would go with my sister but she hasn't finished the book and she's a slow reader. I need to see it now! :-)
I am stoked to see it also. Really curious how they will change the ending? Do you know who Reese Witherspoon is playing? Someone mentioned she was in it. Supposed to go with some girls from book club, but dates into November. I may go sooner  B-)

  • @jennhillhoite‌ Keeping your sister and MIL in my T&P's.

@psychobutthead‌ I've never used one of those credit cards before but I'd ask the dentist if he can do a payment plan. That way you don't pay any interest. In my experience, they will work with you. Hope he feels better soon.

  • @srcr2011 - I get heartburn at night too! If you've already tried tums and propping yourself up on pillows, try eating some dried or candied giner after dinner. I've found that my heartburn feels like a muscle cramp right around my bra band after all the burning goes away. A warm heating pad helps that.

MH is debating getting everyone else the flu shot this year. I got mine @ the OB a few weeks ago. This is the first year I've ever gotten one and think the kids and DH should get one as well since we're due in Feb. Any convincing points besides the flu can be extremely difficult for babies if not deadly and herd immunity is important?

@gmcgra06 my kids still have bizarre sleeping (eyes open, arm straight in the air) and waking habits. They're 12 and 13. Now that they're not babies I don't see it often, but yeah, it was startling at first.

Update to yesterday's random - that project mgt class wasn't as terrible as I was thinking. Wasn't life-changing either.

My stomach hurts from throwing up, but I'm also hungry because my stomach is empty, but I'm afraid to eat anything for fear of getting sick again. I have no idea what caused that, but it sucked. @bhjones1980 DS just got his 1st haircut over the weekend and he's 27 months. I was putting it off. It was one of his last "Firsts." But it looks so much better now. No more messy mullet style in the back. @MrsRoy07 Hope you feel better.  I went to McDonalds again just for coffee this morning. I got Monopoly pieces this time. Yay! I'm so lame. Back in the day with my old BF, him and his friends would go raid all the newspaper stands (the ones where you put a coin in and suppose to take one) and steal all the newspapers just to get the 2 free pieces inside.
