Warning: Debbie Downer, but I need to vent.  Sometimes I just grab Bridget and run from the babysitter because it gets me down to see the other baby (who is two months younger) crawling, standing, and cruising while B just sits there. It just makes me envious since I then I have to go home and fight B to do her exercises and wonder when she will do even one of those things.

Hugs, I know D and B don't have the same issues, but I can truly relate.

  • I feel guilty because I'm upset that the IL's will not watch D, so DH and I can go on a 2 day vacation. Then on top of that they won't watch her for the 4 day poker tournament that would make me almost 1k, which would be the only income I have a chance to get since I've had her. I thought for sure that they had agreed to this already. The only reason why they are saying No Is because DH's Dad wants his wife to hold the gate open for him when he feeds the cows. I darn well know his neighbor would help him, but he is to stubborn to ask for help. I've just been feeling overwhelmed and was looking forward to our yearly Football game trip. Like I said I shouldn't feel salty about that but I do.

  • @cdhaslag‌ I guess I didn't realize that Aria was having speech issues as well. Have you started doing any type of therapy? We've only had 1. I learned that I've been reading books to her wrong...lol but I was thinking about introducing sign language. Have you tried anything like that? I'm not sure if she will pick it up because she doesn't imitate well, but I guess it can't hurt.

  • @cdhaslag‌ they won't evaluate her until she is 1?! That's crazy! D has regressed with the few sounds she made but 2 weeks ago she stuck a purse strap in her mouth, and she can magically say "dada" again. I've been really vigilant to keep her saying it all the time so she doesn't forget it again. We have one vowel Ahhhh, she blows bubbles, and squeals. She makes mmm sound while crawling but I feel like that is more of a grunt than a true consonant sound.

Anyways to @awwwpuddin‌ and @sleepy33 question. Apparently I'm not to read the words. They want me to pick one sound and look at a picture and say something like "The cow goes MOO MOO" "The bird goes Tweet Tweet" and not even read the sentences. I was actually "reading " the book the horror and then talking about what was going on in the page.

  • @cdhaslag‌ the 1 nice thing about their evaluation was that they were able to pin point why she was not making sounds. For Delaney it's a lack of imitation. So we are working on getting her to conversation back and forth with the few sounds she has and we are trying to get her to imitate gestures. They feel that once she comprehends that imitation is a good thing that we will start to get sounds. I did finally get her to start giving kisses back but still no hugs and waving is hit or miss.

  • @sleepy33‌ my DH thinks that "doing the laundry" is putting a load in the washer.....and that's it. He "forgets" to flip it. Meanwhile, I actually go to do some and have to rewash his shit.

@carriet2018‌ I do his all the time--my coworker has been there for a year and a half and asks the shit over and over again....super annoying. Get a clue or get a new job!

Team baby no speak here too. LO will say dads to everything. We think we've heard book, kitty and dog but it isn't consistent. She refuses to say mama, although she does the mmm sound sometimes. Pedi wants her saying dads, mama and one other word by her 15mo appt or well call EI.
  • H had to go out of town for the day, so I took a vacation day to watch Cam. He and my mom and I went to Ikea for almost 5 hours. It. Was. Awesome.

This is my dream. I look this way every time I get to go to ikea. Completely overwhelmed by its awesomeness!!
I have been waiting for this day for many years. Before this one opened, our nearest one was 8 hours away, either Denver, Chicago or Frisco. Now, it is 30 minutes door to door. I may quit my job and go work there.

So that's where I went wrong (and still going wrong) with DD1's speech...

Like I said in another post I think the suggestion was to our particular situation and the fact that she does not mimic. The hope is picking simple sounds will be easier for her to pick up on.

  • My husband found a show on Amazon Prime for our oldest DD to watch called H20, it's super good and DH and I enjoy watching it as much as DD! (its also on Netflix and I think hulu.) it's definitely meant for a younger audience. I'm sad there's only 3 seasons.

After almost 3 years of IF and a crazy roadside delivery, we are loving life with our second beautiful daughter! Lilypie First Birthday tickers

  • We're having Caleb's party at my parents house.  We did this because they have a yard and hopefully it will be a nice day and we'll have plenty of room.  My MIL found out and now she wants to host her own party for him at her house.  DH agreed so now our one year old will have 2 parties because his grandmas are petty and can't play together.

DS was a devil baby yesterday morning and woke up at 5am and was a terror until I dropped him off at daycare at 7:30.  This morning he was sleeping peacefully so I decided not to wake him up and just send his bottle to daycare for breakfast. It was glorious! I snuggled with my cat and watched half of an old 90210 episode. Great way to start the day. Plus DS looked super cute with his bedhead when I dropped him off.

Confession: my day is better when I don't have to deal with the baby in the morning. #MOTY

I always let daycare give LO breakfast. She's always said she provides it and I'm usually running late and she's feeding all the other kids when we arrive anyway. Plus, she does pancakes, eggs and other fancy breakfast foods that we don't have time to do during the week.
