Saturday randoms

Starting this because oh my god, I just don't get it. I have to drag my kid out if bed for daycare during the week at 7:30, but every weekend he is up at 6:30! What gives? Thankfully I went to bed at 9:00 last night like a child because I really needed to sleep.

  • I'll just keep talking to myself because I am not ready to actually function yet. DS is coughing approximately every 4 seconds. No other symptoms. I'm surprised he is sleeping so well

  • DSS has a football game in a couple hours. I am so happy it is supposed to be 75 degrees and sunny. The past couple weeks have been cold and wet and windy, yuck!

Are you putting him to bed later? We used to do that until we realized that later bedtime = earlier wake up time.

Nope, same bedtime. That is totally true though, I have definitely seen that in the past! It's like he knows the best way to screw with me, either making me late during the week or not letting me sleep in on the weekend!

  • I'm laying awake in bed while E is sound asleep in her crib. I should get up and do something productive, but this is so peaceful.

No big plans today. Lots of football, maybe a trip to the grocery store, and going over to my sisters for dinner.

  • We just had breakfast and need to get ready for soccer soon and then home to be lazy for the rest of the day. I may make biscuits if I feel motivated later because they would be yummy with the beef stew DH us making for dinner.

  • We are in again. DH is working today and we don't want to really take Reese out into public. Right now she is munching on strawberries. She is watching Barney's Christmas while i am drinking coffee. I do need to get stuff done at home so hopefully that will happen.

  • I ordered me some flannels last night. The drinking thread last night inspired me. 1993 4EVA!!!!
  • We're going to a huge yard sale that's held every year here. Getting macdonalds breakfast first cause I'm hangry and didn't want to cook.
Also going to an expo after then probably grocery store. All this with a 4 month old who likes to eat every hour and a half should be fun!

  • Cleaning, grocery shopping, and party prep today. We're having three other couples and their children for a barbecue (8 adults, 5 children) tomorrow and have nooooo plans. Oops. Hope DH leaves his crackers in the pantry today.

  • My Saturday random is trying to figure out how to start a thread of my own?
  • DS and I might go to a big neighborhood garage sale this morning and then 9 holes of golf with DH.

DS keeps waking up and making little cries / calling out but then going back to sleep, so I'm seeing how long that will last.
  • Also, my daughter just pulled herself up onto my lap by my freaking nipple. OUCH
  • I need help. Back in May, DS hurled all over his bed. MAY. Sometimes when his room gets warm, I still smell vomit. I'm assuming the mattress is the issue. Any ideas for removing this never-ending odor??

Of course, DH "doesn't smell it," but I will forever win the smell game after I smelled a dead animal for a week that he said was "all in my head," and then we got a thousand flies and, oh guess what, there was a fucking dead animal behind our fireplace in the wall.

  • No. Just sprinkle it then vacuum it up? How long should I let it sit?

You have no idea. It was so horrifying. DH was out with his friends, flies started appearing. It became like seriously hundreds of flies. I called him sobbing and made him come home. He was super mad and thought I was overreacting until he actually got home and saw how many flies there were. I still want to cry thinking about it.

A product called Nature's Miracle. My grocery store carries it, but you can get it at Petsmart or Petco. Spray the mattress to the point of saturation and then let it air dry. We used this many times when we had an old, sick dog. I think it's enzyme based to remove odors.
I know it's random for me to post this, but I was just surfing around the Bump while drinking coffee, half watching Today and half watching my kid, and skimming this thread. Hope it helps.

  • Hey everybody!

Ds and I are up watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse while he eats breakfast. I'm drinking my coffee. Im not sure if he's ha ing some kind of growth spurt/developmental leap or something, bc he's been pretty moody on and off, he napped for almost 3 hrs yesterday, has been even more clumsy/falling more than usual, and has been waking up crying and falling back asleep a few times a night lately. Kids do some weird stuff.

  • I'm kinda bummed I didn't follow the drinking thread from last night. I have some really good overshares that I don't get to relive often enough these days!
  • Survived a 7 teenaged girls sleepover last night. They were actually really good & kept any drama to themselves. Whew!

DD2 has her 1st day of bowling today on a new leauge, then we are heading to my sisters for a bonfire tonight. I need to make some BBQ chicken to take to it, but am sitting drinking coffee & reading this instead.
  • Morning! My mom has been wrangling my children for me so I just rolled out of bed at 9. The tiny one was grunting and making ridiculous amounts of noise from like 4:30 to 7 when I passed him off, so the extra sleep was nice.

What is up with the grunting?? My littlest does this too. Everyone says its normal but I swear none of my other 3 did it. She is SO loud tho! And its always after the MOTN feeding, & never before....so weird. Any idea?

  • My dog drives me crazy more than my kid does. He's got so much nervous energy, that all he does is pace around and beg to go outside, only to be whining at the door to come in 2 minutes after I let him out. Its like hes thinks my life revolves around HIS schedule. Ahh!!

  • I might as well get started on laundry. I'm avoiding meal planing for the moment because it'll make me want to eat all the food.
  • I made French toast for breakfast and bacon. Now I'm meal planning and doing homework while she gets ready to watch Mulan.

Grocery shopping is on the list and we might grill tonight since it is going to be almost 80 after being in the 60s

DH is being an asshole now. He's about to get throat punched in front of 20 kids and their families.

I fully expect this to be my exact post from the bonfire by about 8pm tonight. Its 10am & MH has already cracked a beer. JTTW

  • I've been participating here more, so I'll mini intro...I have a daughter born in December last year. I work FT. I love TV and music and eating food and I like this board.
  • My girls love to dance to "shake it off" by Taylor Swift. It's absolutely adorable.

"Shake it off" is the first song DS sings along with. I feel a little bad because it's not exactly worthy of writing in the baby book (I feel like it should be a kid song or something), but it's pretty funny.

  • Well I think we're going to attempt an apple picking trip. If we dont get out of the house my child will drive me crazy...FACT.

  • Good morning. I just got back from four days in Miami for a work conference, which was great, but it totally screwed up my my days with DD. I've only seen her once in nearly two weeks (we do week on/week off) and this training was during my week... :( BUT she's coming home to me in just 15 mins & I seriously cannot wait to see her!! I don't even care what we do today.
