Wow. I can't believe how rude people can be. Like others have mentioned, everyone shows differently. Mostly everyone looks the same at the end. Don't worry. Next time ask her if she's expecting too... that'll def make her second guess herself next time she wants to make a comment about another person's waist line.
To give you some perspective on how different people are, I'll tell you about my bump. I have everything stacked up in my favor to show late:
First time mom? Check Strong abs prior? Check Long torso? Check Titled uterus? Check
My body cares nonefucks about any of that, and I've looked 5 months pregnant since week 8. It is what it is. Mother nature does what she wants, and it's not something to upset yourself over.
I wasn't exactly skinny before I got pregnant so I'm still trying to decide at 14w if I look pregnant or just fat. So I get the uncomfortable feeling. But the HDBD thread that I didn't know existed until today (not sure how I missed it) helped me too.
@RGreenhorn14 you look adorable! Hope you are feeling the love and enjoy rocking the bump I was worried about looking huge and my mom said "Well, you'll carry however your body decides to carry - nothing you can do but enjoy it!"

You sound like me, except I'm not as tall as you are.
I feel your pain! I am 15 weeks pregnant and although I feel bloated and chubby I haven't actually gained more then a couple pounds yet. Today I had a coworker look at me and ask how far along I was. I told her and she says, "Wow, if your already showing this much you'll be waddling around like a penguin by the end of the pregnancy!" (She then proceeded to give me a visual demonstration of what I will look like as a giant pregnant penguin) I know I'm being overly sensitive, and she was just joking around but now I feel like a whale.
@aframe77 I don't think being upset by that counts as being overly sensitive- that wasn't very nice of your coworker, even if she thought it was funny. It would make me feel really self-conscious too!
This is the first time I'm actually contributing to a discussion ..because I feel ya on this issue! I carry most of my weight in my midsection and have had countless people ask if I was pregnant when I definitely was not. I died each time. Anyway, I felt like I started showing really, really fast. Truly, I believe it's that I'm a stress eater and chubby to begin with - it's not really a baby bump. I didn't even get to hide my pregnancy for long - apparently it was obvious to people. Many have asked if I'm carrying twins and when I insist I'm not, I've gotten the "well don't be surprised if it's two since you're already showing." Now I'm only 14 weeks, but part of my belly is getting "hard" and I'm guessing it's beginning to be a real bump. I get super self conscious sometimes but then I try to remember my husband thinks it's cute that he can "see" the baby and it makes me feel better.
Re: Bump sizes
so rude. I had a co-worker tell me "wow you've really popped" at 9 weeks....L-)
