I think @huckleberry08 is onto something. If you eat while you shop 1. you are burning some of the calories while you walk, 2. you are less likely to buy things if one hand is holding food/drink.
Any time Jameson hears the word Crazy he stops what he is doing to shake his whole body. Guess this boy loves to crazy shake (learned it from team Umi Zoomi). It's the cutest thing ever!
I know it's not a huge thing but for A who's been a late crawler, cruiser etc, today she stood for the longest time and took a few steps before she fell forward!!! Yay!!!
I find it weird that they complain they never see her and yet they don't want her to leave daycare early Wednesday, or have her Thursday. They will watch her Friday because I work from home. Maybe they realize they can't keep up with her?
I've found in our family the grandparents seem to want lots of supervised visits. As in we are there to care for the bad stuff and they get to play with them. I think this is why people look forward to being grandparents
Last night while watching TV Demi Lovato was on a commercial. DH said to me , "is that Miley Simpson?" Which shows you where he is at in terms of pop culture knowledge.
Oh @steamboat123 you are preaching to the choir. I've complained about my inlaws in this department before and I swear it's worse when you live close by because you know they could be helping out anytime but they aren't very much. And then they complain about how much they miss them when we go visit my family for a week. That always gets me fired up!
I don't usually post on these threads, but I have to share my excitement! Owen slept in his own room, in his own bed without me or DH ALL NIGHT! He woke up once shortly after after I put him to bed, but fell asleep easy.
@steamboat123 I've been making a hash type thing with mystery squashes lately. I peel the squash and then use a chopper to make super fine pieces of squash. Then I sauté it in olive oil with seasoned bread crumbs. While it's hot I toss it with parmesan. The yellow squashes end up looking like and having the consistency of scrambled eggs.
When I see the shape of the pattypan though I instinctively think to slice them thin, spray with olive oil and bake with a little dusting of parm on top. (can you tell I'm Sicilian since I'm incapable of making something without olive oil and parm?)
@calikat80 every year I plant too many squash. Maybe someday I'll learn! Last years crop sucked so I over compensated.
Jealous. I can't grow a damn thing so stopped trying, but I am always the happy recipient of other's gardens! Once I have some free time I am hoping to have someone build me some raised beds and start a small garden for me. It's just so hard with the pool taking up the majority of our yard and DH's time allotted for outdoor yard work! I have a great, huge deck though that gets tons of sun so I'm thinking of converting half of it to a garden.
I'm embarrassed and not sure what the proper etiquette would be. We went to a really fancy wedding back in April. I received the bride's thank you yesterday and it only mentioned a baking sheet. I remember buying them a set of towels but maybe I threw in the baking sheet too. DH went to high school with the groom and we haven't seen them since the wedding. Do I send a note back, ask DH to call his buddy? It's a little awkward.
@workinit My niece loved the Pet Ball I got her. But other ideas if she is girly would be a little purse, maybe a tea party set, or of course cute clothes.
@lizzybizzy80 I use the thank you as a receipt of sorts to make sure they got everything (I usually buy and ship in advance). The one time the gift wasn't mentioned I checked with the groom because he's my good friend. I may feel differently if I wasn't close to the person but if they mentioned one gift and not another I might check in on it!
@calikat80 I agree, maybe it didn't arrive. I checked back and the amount was charged but I don't know if it reached them. I think I'll have DH reach out to his buddy because if I send a note she'll probably send one back and who wants to write another note after finishing their thank you cards.
Well, yesterday was good and bad. Today started with an anxiety attack. Fun stuff. Yesterday was a giant fight against the anxiety attack. Then we went to Office Max to get a new printer. Lily was trying to stand up in the cart and I grabbed hold of her legs to sit her down. Didn't realize that I grab right on the shot spot on the leg. MOTY here. H then told me as we were walking out that I am never again allowed to say that I am a bad mom, that he has seen and experienced bad parents (pretty shitty childhood with abuse), and that I am not a bad mom but a really good one.
We have a wedding to go to in a few weeks (my cousin's) and I have no idea what DS is going to wear. Any suggestions of where to pick up more formal clothes (he's currently in 12M) would be greatly appreciated, especially since I don't want to spend a fortune.
I am only to the bottom of page 10, but in case someone hasn't said this: I ordered a tux for DS when he was little and a ring bearer. I got it from Amazon. It was cheap, but still pretty nice.
@kari5186 I used summer infant, but when she outgrew the 6-12 month size I couldn't find any bigger, but found a cheap A&A one (6-12 months) that she's still wearing. Its very light, I don't think I would buy one specifically for the winter.
I would think they could freeze ok as long as you wrapped them tightly enough to avoid freezer burn. It seems like they should, and then bake beautifully when you take them out.
oooo @graceinca stuffed is a good call. I'm not sure what the taste is like, but I often halve acorn squash and stuff it with apples, walnuts, cranberries, butter and cinnamon with a little maple syrup and it's like pie. And I change up what I put in there depending on what I have on hand but it usually follows the sweet/autumn theme.
We finally hired one and today is her first day at the house. I feel like a kid at Christmas again. My DH works from home but won't give me any details. I can't wait to see how awesome the place looks!

@kari5186 if you're going with Halo sacks, you may start with a large (just my opinion). DD is in the 90th+ percentile for weight and height and the large size is still really big on her.
I'm annoyed right now. The girlfriend of a friend of mine and DH's was going on and on last year about how she got this great writing gig on a pilot, and the series got picked up, and how excited she was to be staffed on it, blah blah blah. She talked about it endlessly and posted to Facebook about it, but she was always very vague about what show which I found odd because we all relentlessly promote our projects on social media. Anywhoozle, I found out today she was lying about the whole thing. She got a job as an assistant to a writer. Not a bona fide writer's assistant who sits in the writer's room, but someone who just does personal assistant stuff for a writer. Why would you do that? This town is pretty small and people will find out about something like that.
Re: I'm starting with the SPAM in the mirror
I have walked around target and filled my basket up and left it in the store. It helps.
