I have been sitting home ALL day waiting for FedEx to deliver my wedding ring (I lost a diamond so had To be shipped to get repaired) the tracking says it's on route for delivery and will require a signature. It's 4pm and still not here! I hope the truck didn't crash.....
@younglove316 those days are so hard! I hope you get your wine soon.
DH had a work thing tonight with the CEO of his company. He thought he might be home at the same time as usual but he will be later. I tried to keep LO up so he could see her, but she was rubbing her eyes and screaming. She's been going to bed so early lately and I feel bad that DH doesn't get to see her everyday. It makes him so sad :-(

I used to do ponytails, but they give me a headache most of the time now.
95% of the time my hair is in a French braid. LO holds it when we walk around. DS1 has started mimicking some of the things LO does, so he will grab it a give a tug too.
The other 5% of the time it's in a bun, but if I don't put it up high enough it hits the head rest in the car and causes my head to tilt forward.
My hair is waist length so I never wear it any way that it gets blown around or tangled in the kids fingers.
Putting lo in her own room did not help MOTN wake ups at all. And now she didn't even go back down after her 545. I am in catastrophe mode of "I'm never gonna sttn again in my entire life." Of course I know I will at some point but that could be when she's all grown up and I don't want to rush to that. Ugh.
The refresh button has disappeared from my phones webpages. So now I have to click on a post and then go down the bottom and click on march 2014 moms to get new posts. WTH?
Yikes @DisneyAddict1, glad you found her!

We tried for the same thing when we got back to Kuwait mid August. It was just last night that we finally got a long stretch out of her (7 pm to 1:30 then 2:15 to 6). I figure it's a fluke, but each week her stretches got a little bit longer.
The first few nights she was up every 45 minutes to an hour. Then the next week every 2 hours. Last week we moved up about 3 to 4 hours.
So just saying, it might take some time for it to work. For a while I was just making sure she stayed in the crib for half the night into bringing her back to my bed for the other half of the night.
Thanks for the commiseration @bennieangel. I feel bad even complaining because I know some like you have it even worse. Thanks for the light at the end of the tunnel @Kewii! I needed confirmation that it wouldn't be an instant solution and sometimes things take time
@babycaps I would say something. If you've got their license plate number maybe you could call a non-emergency police number and ask them what to do. I wouldn't want to get them in trouble but I'd rather that than put the baby at risk.
Taco Bell is what my employees eat if they are: a) constipated Or b) not in the mood to work that day because they will end up in the bathroom for the rest of the afternoon
@bennieangel I was just complaining to DH yesterday how I keep forgetting what I was doing/saying or what I was planning on doing/saying. I think it's the cumulative effect of crappy interrupted sleep. I'm sorry it's got you down and hope you can get recharge this weekend.
@babycaps DS1 had to do the car seat test before we could d/c because he dropped below the weight requirement. That was the longest 3 HOURS of my life as a parent thus far.. I had a hard time understanding how they expected a newborn 3days old to go that long with out eating or crying but I knew it was a safety measure. He passed after restarting once thankfully.. I just wanted to go home!
@FFWifey I change J when I notice he is wet but daycare does it every 2 hours and it seems to work ok. I think he goes through around 8-10 diapers a day on non-daycare days (we don't typically have MOTN changes). A pack of 50-60 should be plenty.
So I was at Target yesterday (no Starbucks, um what?!) And they had flavored coffee syrups. I know some coffee shops use them but has anyone used store bought ones? I was tempted but resisted for now.
@DisneyAddict1 that's why trying is overrated ~X( Last week I made a huge casserole to last a few days and forgot to put it in the fridge. I haven't cooked dinner since. Bahaha.
@wisconsincheese12, a car bed is what some (VERY few) preemies have to use if they are not able to safely sit in a car seat due to (usually) neck control. In a car seat, some preemies' head flop forward and the airway is compromised. Same reason it is not recommended newborns spend more than 2hrs at a time in a car seat and swing or sleep at angle bc the head can flop forward too easily!
Babies who are born prematurely (before 37 weeks) undergo a "car seat challenge" or test prior to being discharged from the hospital.
They make the heart babies do it too. look at my tiny guy.
We almost had to get a car bed for Owen. He failed his car seat test twice; a third time and they wouldn't have released him without something different. Thankfully he did pass but then we were nervous driving with him for a long time.
Random question. I know some of us have said we already have savings accounts going for lo. Say they need braces or something when they are older, do you use their savings to pay it or pay it yourself? I'm just curious what the thoughts are on this.
Layla's savings account wouldn't be used for braces. I would feel like that's my responsibility. Hers is more for school/car/house down payment.
@FFwifey You didn't say when you're going, but here's my thoughts. I always figure out how many LO uses 'on average'. (I think you could count how many CDs you change) So, LO uses 7-10 a day usually. On a 'full of poop' day he may use 12 but that's not common. So if you're trying to not have leftovers at all, I would say 9(diapers) x 4(days) = 36 and add a few as emergency. And each size diaper comes in a different 'count' pack, so I'd get whatever was closest. But, I always have more when travelling than needed because I'd hate to run out. *size 2 might come as a 52 pack, and size 3 as a 44 pack. ** I buy by the largest case I can because its cheaper that way. ***also, Metro and Food Basics had some of their smaller packages on clearance (half price) because the package sizes were discontinued. I'm not sure how close you are to one, but I just got a pack of 112 for $15 and had a coupon on the package for $3 off. That pack is usually $30.
@younglove316 We were going to open a savings account for LO but after looking into it we found most paid NO interest on deposits. My own personal account gets interest, so I've just left the money there for now. We will get him an account later on when he is old enough to buy stuff for himself.
As for expenses for LO growing up...braces will be paid by us. University or college - we plan to open an RESP for the boys. Car - buy their own. House - buy their own, save for their own down payment.
My parents gave me nothing. My bank account had $100 when I turned 18. In their defence, their combined family income was $50-60K/yr with 5 kids to raise. Things are different now, but I definitely think the kids need to learn to save their own money for housing and car.
Just to clarify. When I say college/car/house down payment I mean she'd be able to put her money to one of those things. We wouldn't be giving her money for all three.
And I agree with others that college and stuff aren't our responsibility, but I would like to help and this is the best way I know how to.
We have gotten some money/checks for her that I keep meaning to open up an account for her with. Not sure what this money will go towards, it depends where we are financially but obv something for her. We will also do a piggy bank and morph that into another account just for her to learn.
If I can id like to help m pay for everything. Like of she's 16 and wants a car I would love to match whatever she contributes so that she understands what it means to save. Hopefully we are financially able to do so.
It will depend though. If she's using the car to party and skip school that won't be happening. But if has a pt job and needs a car to get there I'm happy to help.
Feeling all the feels today about how people in my family don't have time for us. I need chocolate, and alcohol that will fix everything
I'm so sorry you have the feels and crappy family members We've got a few people who surprised us a lot by not making it a priority to be in LOs life. I try to remember they are the ones missing out. I will continue to surround LO with the ones who I know love her and will not let her down, and she wont even realize. She also will be better off not getting excited about people who suck and will let her down...
@WisconsinCheese12 I'm sorry I know how you feel, I've been going through it with pretty much everyone around me it seems. When I was pregnant everyone was so excited or so it seemed and now that she's actually here, nothing.
This is exactly how I feel!!!! I was crying to DH today because I feel like I don't have any friends.

The random thread took me back to page 1. Hoping this fixes it bc who the hell has time to read 8.5k comments? 100 ok but really!?!? On a plus note it's so weird reading everyone's pregnancy comments.
If he ever has more than $5000 to his name he loses all of his benefits. We have a special needs trust but 529s or savings accounts aren't allowed bc he can't have his own money according to big brother.

How infuriating! Can you set up savings for your DD?
