Why do short weeks always feel so damn looooong? Hurry up, Friday!
Normally I would agree, today I am torn. DH leaves tomorrow to go hunting for 10 days. I am not looking forward to being on my own with both kids for that long.

I tore a ligament in my ankle when DH and I were in Australia a couple years back. I still managed to get around and take care of myself.
DH sprains his ankle today and hasn't gotten off the couch. I went to LO's Dr appointment alone, walked the dog, did laundry, cleaned the house and have been taking care of LO all day.
Men are pussies.
And he's a cop right? /:)

Kiddo has been asleep for about fifteen minutes. I know that I have about ten minutes left of quiet mommy time, and I really oughtta speed shower, but... Yeah I would rather sit here and bump (aka do nothing) for the next quiet few minutes. I have no regrets.
I have too many pomegranates. I wish you guys were closer. We could have pomegrante margaritas! There's such a surplus this year I might actually spring to get it inspected to sell. Organic poms are super expensive.
I'm trying to be understanding but this is such a bummer. My BFF is here visiting and right before she came to visit her DH did some stupid shit that might have cost him his career. He's having a complete emotional meltdown so she's spending hours on the phone with him. It's horrible, I feel awful for her but ugh! Why did he have to do this right before her visit? I only see her once or twice a year.
I've never had a supply issue, but the past 24 hours I'm starting to think I might. He's so angry at my boobs and hungry all the time!
I just had the same thing happen, starting over the weekend. Pretty sure it's a growth spurt. She was also up a lot more at night, starving each time. I'm hoping it'll be done soon cuz I'm dying. Back to work me can't handle no sleep.

11lbs till I'm at my PP weight!!! I've been struggling the last couple of weeks and it's finally starting to come off. I wore my biggest PP pants yesterday and by "wore" I mean I squeezed my big ass into them but couldn't bend over without showing half my ass crack. It's something though, right?
There's a neighborhood block party on Tuesday. We have to bring dessert. I feel like this is my chance to meet the moms here. I have first date jitters. What do I make to impress them that stands up to the heat? Thoughts?

For our block party we bought cookies from whole foods! I don't think anyone on our block actually made a dessert so I didn't feel too bad! Someone brought ice cream to ours which was fun if you can keep it frozen of course. Otherwise cupcakes are always fun!
Still slow at participating here... But needed to share that after weeks of struggling to pump enough for LO I'm finally ok with supplementing with formula at daycare.... it helped that today our ped suggested/okd this by saying any breastmilk at 4 month is great but formula is ok too. I'm going to look forward to not pumping extra at night and in the AM!
The pediatrician at our practice who "gave me permission" to stop pumping and just go to formula was a total sweetheart and super sensitive to all the feels I was having about wanting to feed my kid and not producing anywhere near enough. I think any response to a new mom struggling with bf that isn't some form of "yeah, we know breastmilk is awesome, but formula isn't poison and your kid will be just fine, let's find what works best for you and your family" is poopy bedside manner.
So.... I'm taking dinner to two of my friends who just had babies tomorrow. They wanted lasagna so I thought I'd try out a lasagne Bolognese recipe I've been eying. I'm making my first ever Bolognese today because it takes six hours to make. Reading the recipe before shopping I thought it said to double the sauce since you'll want to have extra, as it's a six hour sauce. Since I'm making three lasagnas, doubling it seemed excessive. So I did the recipe x5 - 3 lasagnas plus some extra. Got home, started making it, and realized the recipe says that THE AUTHOR doubled the recipe already so that I'd have extra. So I'm really making the sauce x10. 16 quarts of Bolognese, and my freezer's full of breast milk. I thought something was off when I had to pull out my Le Cruset AND my large All Clad pot. Oops. /:)

Can someone direct me to a website that gives a decent overview of stepped soothing? I wasn't going to do anything like that at least until 6 months, but DH had bedtime on his own tonight and had to do something, since LO was so worked up. He did pretty good, but I want something to direct him to in the future.
A-game grabbed a firm fistful of the hair on one side of my head, which is now short enough to bring my face into kicking range. She then proceeded to plant a big toe square up my nostril.
Thanks, kid.

I know what you are bringing to the Nor Cal get together...
Dessert nachos!!! Buy or bake your own cinnamon tortilla chips. Drizzle with chocolate and caramel syrups. Sprinkle with kosher salt if that's your thang. Can also top with chopped apples or strawberries or nuts or bacon or....!?!?

I don't know any websites but personally I think do intervals that suit you, you just need to increase the time you stay out before soothing again. Also most sites say not to pick up baby, but we did to help settle a bit. Once calmed I would put her straight back down and step out - even if she started crying again.
the intervals we did was
Night one: 3 min, 5 min, 5 min, 8 min (would have then been 10 but didnt need it)
Night two: 5 min, 8 min, (would then have been 10 min, 10 min, 12 mins, didnt need any further after this)
Night Three: repeat night two
Night four: 8 min, 10 min, 12 min, 15 min, 20 min
Try for a maximum of 1hr from starting, if not asleep in an hour, use what ever other method you currently use and try again. The only other thing I would say is that DD never got that worked up. She was crying but not purple crying. If she ever got to that point I would have found another method or given up for the night, but that's entirely over to you. I also believe if DH tried everything sometimes for sanity sake you need to put them down and walk away.
Good luck.

Over on parenting MBK is doing an AWESOME story time about the getting together of the 1D guys, Harry and Louis. I don't even really like 1D but her story telling skills - which involve many gifs - are amazing. I highly recommend it if you're bored.
I told her a few weeks ago she is my ultimate bump crush. She is hilarious and awesome in every way... I know nothing about 1D but I read that whole thing. Parenting is just the right amount of hot mess that I'm into sometimes...

My UO, MBK drives me mad. I think she is a bit of a bully who appears to lord it over parenting. Dare not disagree with her.
This is an opinion based onthings I have seen and personal experience.

Oh man. Sullivan puked in his sleep, through his nose, had a hard time breathing and freaked the fuck out, which freaked me the fuck out. Poor kid. The snot sucker, several tissues, and mama and daddy snuggles seem to have made it all better, but um, I think I may be spending the rest of eternity sitting in the rocker in the nursery listening to him breathe.
