My dogs paws smell like popcorn! For real!

I had to sniff her all over this morning because we can tell a skunk sprayed outside again last night and I wanted to ensure she wasn't sprayed.

On that note, I was looking online at baby clothes this weekend and Gap, Kohls, and a couple other websites all say Gender on their website when listing Girl, Boy, Neutral. Ugh...

Maybe my thinking is wrong here, and if so, someone please educate me, but in the case of clothes, aren't they actually using it correctly? Do you want to dress baby like a boy or girl. Does your child identify as a boy or girl?

When talking about the sex of a person, you are discussing if they have a penis or a vagina. But everything else would be gender related right?

This is why I don't understand why the gender/sex clarification is such a big deal on TB. I realize that political correctness is important, but when half of society doesn't even realize it's an issue I have to say I really couldn't care less about it. I do use the terms correctly with the exception of saying gender reveal and gender neutral, but that is simply because I've never heard someone call it a sex reveal party or say that they are doing a sex neutral nursery.

These are correct uses of the term "Gender",

Gender is the range of characteristics pertaining to, and differentiating between, masculinity and femininity

You would design your nursery based on these characteristics (i.e. pink and frilly for girls, and blue and sports for boys), Gender neutral clothing would be that clothing that does not sway to these social charateristics that define masculinity and femininity.

Sex = physical sex organs, so unless you were designing your nursey with pictures of penises and vaginas that would not be the correct term.

@psychobutthead I totally agree with @CrazyCornball, it's likely that people are commenting because it's noticeably different not because it looked terrible before.

My random is a couple-fold. We got the results of the Harmony and other tests today: healthy boy with no abnormalities. DH had ordered Surprise a onesie that says "Don't Hate Me; I'm a Stateless Person" because Surprise's citizenships will be conferred from us and not from place of birth (yay for consular report of birth abroad, which I should probably print out and start filling out my dates of residency in the US so that I get that done).

NBR random: My mom and her BFF are coming to visit in under a month! Beach every day!

This isnt really an issue of "political correctness" to me and it irks me to see people write "sorry not sorry Im not being politically correct but I use the term "gender".

It is an issue of using words correctly, especially when you are explained the difference OVER AND OVER

Also, just because most of society uses the wrong term does not make it right. It just means there's a long way to go in educating people.

Nothing would ever change ifpeople threw in the towel because most people don't understand.

My random: so far the second tri still sucks and I hate it. The exhaustion is kicking in now more than first tri. The nausea has not gone away and I can hardly eat because of it. My boobs just now started hurting. Wtf?

Please don't tell me it was thanksgiving and/or Christmas stuff, I can't handle that. Was it Halloween? That I can get on board with.

At Pier 1 is was cool Halloween stuff... at Michaels it was Fall/Thanksgiving related stuff. Its back to school time, my mind immediately goes to Thanksgiving because the time flys by.

@catladyTX - I'm with you. My symptoms have eased up only slightly. I have actually thrown up more in 2nd tri than in 1st tri, even though I am nauseous less during the day. Basically, I get sudden intense waves of nausea, throw up, and then it's gone. In 1st tri, I'd be more or less nauseous all day but almost never threw up.

And my nipples BURN. They are SO SO SO sensitive.

Here's to hoping that this is the tail end of symptoms.

I did! And we are team PINK!

I'm still in absolute shock. LOL I was CONVINCED this whole time it was a boy. I haven't even looked at girl stuff, picked out names, themes, nothing. DH is OVER THE MOON excited to have a little girl. It's all pretty real now.

P.S. She wasn't afraid to show us her stuff, or lack there of. I have a picture of her with her legs sticking straight up like a frog. It's pretty funny looking. :x

ETA: I am EXTREMELY excited to have a little girl. But now that I know what we are having, it's like getting a positive pregnancy test all over again. It's all hit me like a ton of bricks!

I have to admit I am a little jealous of everyone finding out the sex. I am waiting for the A/S because DH and I are too cheap to pay of an elective u/s. But I'm still jealous! Less than 5 weeks hopefully!

I'm with you @Oem617‌ waiting for anatomy scan because im too cheap to buy an elective u/s. My due date is 2/2 so its not too bad.. sept 15th is my scan.

It's just weird since I'm at the beginning of the month I thought I'd be one of the first to find out lol

CONGRATULATIONS! That is so exciting!! I agree, finding out the sex makes everything more real.

I totally just found out the sexes of our twins and we are waiting to get home and take a pic to reveal it to our friends and family. They are going insane. I find it to be lots of fun.

I don't really know why I'm so excited for this ice cream - one of my only 'symptoms' has been the loss of my sweet tooth and FFFC? I haven't had (or wanted) ice cream since my BFP...

however, I hope they have sprinkles!

I feel super behind too.

My dr. doesn't even do the blood draw for the genetic testing until 15 wks.

we also wont be finding out the sex until our a/s - which is Oct. 2nd, at 20wks.

I agree! We're waiting until A/ S (unless they decide to randomly tell us at 16-wk appt... Unlikely), and in a way I kind of like the anticipation- almost like Christmas morning. Still, I am a little jealous!

You're probably excited because it's free and special! I know whenever we have anything extra at work it's totally different than if you just get yourself I've cream or whatever it is. Keeps up morale

My snoogle arrived yesterday, it's so comfy! Thank you so much for all the recommendations, ladies! DH now wants a snoogle for himself too.

Last night I walked into the bathroom for my middle of the night pee, good that I turned on the light this time. There was a giant spider suspending down from the ceiling right over the loo when I walked in. There was a lot of screaming...

All those announcement and sex new threads... any chance of just consolidating those into a couple of sticky? Sounds like I'm not the only one just scanning for the random threads and skipping the rest these days. Too many AW threads daily lately.

Mine are every 4 weeks starting at 10 weeks too. My dr said to schedule an appointment just for the scan anytime between 19-21 weeks.

I'm having AS probably around October 2nd as well. The day before our 5 year wedding anniversary.

At least, I'm hoping we have it around then... I suspect my midwife will fill in the requisition after our next appointment - the ultrasounds here are done through imaging laboratories, so you have to book early.

I'm kind of shocked that it's almost the end of August already.... this first tri seems to be flying by!

Does anyone know how Motherhood Maternity "bump bucks" work? Right now it's spend $75 and get $30 of bump bucks, is this then $30 I can spend? Or is it a coupon for $30 if I spend $75 (making it $30 off $150 in the end)
