I know what you are talking about and honestly, I found that the member who was disagreeing with a popular member was not simply disagreeing with her. She was going after her and trying to be disagreeable. It was like she was out for her and that really bothered me so I wouldn't have supported the way she voiced her disagreements.

Also, we are not given the full details as to why someone is banned so things could happen that we are not aware of that would cause a ban. People questioned it and I felt it was good enough but no one other than the mods could really do anything about it.

I agree that sometimes our board gets into group think mode and I wish people weren't as fast to jump on the bandwagon. I think that in the name of being supportive sometimes people don't stop to think about whether they truly agree with the behavior or the words being shared. I feel that for the most part, we're pretty quick to jump on newbies, maybe because there is no attachment to them but have more difficulty being objective when the post comes from a reg.

I don't understand the concept of 'kid friendly meals'. What does that even mean? My son eats what we eat and I just don't see how it's beneficial to anyone to make sperate meals. At what point do you draw the line? It just seems like an avoidable future power struggle.

Sorry to bump this thread again, but nope, this is not a bannable offense. And she was not being threatening, harassing or going over the line into ban territory. Not even close.

That situation is one of the ones that I was talking about yesterday. That kind of thing is not OK in my mind, and that people don't question it or just go along with it really gives me a case of the sighs.

Maybe I didn't explain what I was trying to say correctly so let me try again. I agree that no one should be banned for simply disagreeing or disliking someone else if TOS are not being broken. I simply did not jump in when the two members would disagree because I felt that one was just going after the other and not really basing it on a true disagreement of opinion but on the fact that she didn't like the other member. As far as the banning goes, I did see multiple people question it and because I didn't have the details and someone else had already questioned it, I didn't feel like I had to, but an unfair banning is stupid and should NOT happen.

I love our board and how supportive it is but I think we could learn a few things from a board such as TTGP where the women there are pretty blunt and honest while being supportive. Sometimes I have felt like the sledgehammer goes down way too fast on this board if people are too blunt or if someone gets butthurt, even when TOS are not broken and it fits with the culture of TB as a whole.

I also want to chime in on the mod wars. I was not around the day that everything went down and I didn't read what was said between those members as I never went to the thread. I didn't actually know a member had been banned until I saw it on FB and even then, it was a couple days later. I did read the UO where people talked about what had happened. I didn't feel like I had enough information to argue either side, but I did think that people were talking about it.

The problem with all that was that only the people directly involved knew the details of it. It seemed to me to be more of a she-said she-said situation and really was not my place to get in the middle of it. I feel like if a mod is abusing their powers that TB wouldn't allow that to occur, so part of me has some mistrust of what is being said. Again, I don't have the details and that kind of accusation is not something you just say without having any proof other than a spidey sense tingling. The fact that she was banned at all doesn't add up also. From what I understand, it was that she blocked another mod and that was the reason for the ban, not a TOU violation based on her conduct on the thread.

We can go around and around with what we think may or may not have happened, but at the end of the day, we don't actually know. The account was restored and there doesn't seem to be any other issues other than this person wanting either a new mod for our group or an additional mod. I don't really care either way because as Nicb13 said, this is for entertainment and I really don't take it that seriously.

As for why no one is up in arms and calling for a new mod, it is probably because it's a job that no one really wants. This person spends her time here doing her best with zero reward. She is not perfect, no one is. I for one don't really have the burning desire to shake things up at this stage.

Either way, I don't care because I don't have to like everyone, which I don't, but you really can only disagree and call out certain members. It is what it is. It's the internet and I hold very little value in what most think of me here because I know who I am and that's all that matters.

I know you and I aren't BFFs, but FWIW, I didn't think you deserved to be banned. I did think you were sort of egging the situation on, which is why I didn't do a public outcry, but banned? No. I thought that was pretty ridiculous.
