DH and I finished painting the nursery this weekend. I am going to do the touch up stuff this week. DH is right now figuring out how to build the crib from the ground up. Other then a toy box and a side table, wipe warmer, cool humidifier, some clothes that need to still be washed and let's not forget the one diaper and one bottle that came in the goody bag from BRU. We have a laundry basket he can live in. We can reuse the one diaper we have right. No wipes. We have none of our bags packed. Oh yeah still have not gotten my mom's flight booked to come help. So yeah we are completely ready! )
I've been watching a lot of "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant" lately. Those moms all somehow manage to survive the first few weeks.
So I figure, if worse comes to worst and I deliver early, we will send family to buy the car seat, diapers, and wipes, and set up my sister's old pack and play. I guess if you're not prepared, you just make it work!
That show blows my mind....I just don't understand! HOW did you not know?!
It's the question of the ages. My child has barely stopped moving in the past 40 hours. I am going completely insane. Plus half the time, I feel like she's trying to burrow out my vagina or escape through the front of my abdomen. I can understand not feeling movement at 20 or even 25 weeks, but by 30 weeks, the child demands your attention! How do you not think, something is wrong here...
Agreed -- it totally baffles me. LO has hiccups all the time, and I couldn't imagine feeling all those jabs, bumps, pulses, etc. and not thinking something is up. Yet, in saying that, I actually know someone who legitimately had no idea with her second one (who came not long after her first) until she went into labor on her toilet.**** Apparently, according to the doctor, it's not entirely uncommon especially in situations in which the mom might not keep a baby if she knew. Something about the body's way of protecting itself. ***** (Eta words are hard)
Interesting..so it's almost like unconscious denial? Like when someone goes through something traumatic and the mind blocks it out to protect itself? But if you never realize you're pregnant, how do you make the decision to terminate, or at least know you would choose that?

I knew a lady who didn't know she was pregnant with her second baby. She had irregular periods so she didn't notice she wasn't having a period and never felt movement. She went to the hospital with stomach pain and found out she was in labor.
We have all of the big furniture pieces, but still need essentials. I am getting anxious, but am waiting until September to buy anything else. It's coming fast ladies! I was just saying to DH that we only have 9 weeks to go and thinking back 9 weeks we had already returned from our babymoon in Charleston, CRAZY!!!!

Love the nursery -- and the glider!!!
We're in OK shape as well. Crib, dresser, rug and lamps are set up in the room. We have a Rock n' Play and some clothes. We have received a lot of the "travelling" stuff so far as well: car seat and stroller, baby carrier, convertible seat (even though we won't need that until much later -- I have no idea where to put it in the meanwhile!). My shower is this weekend, so I know there will be more stuff coming. I'm not too worried about the physical stuff. We still have to go through the house and "childproof" and I really, really need to go through all my hypnobirthing stuff again. I feel like time is slipping away from me reaaaaally quickly!
I would say we're probably 45%ish ready....maybe? Haha.
We have our shower on Sunday, so we'll have a better idea of what we still might need to get, etc. But then my Mom's friend is throwing a second shower in mid September so I will not really know what is or isn't needed until the very end.
I just made a list of the few items we NEED, like a baby mattress, garbage pail, curtain rod, etc., things we didn't register for.
I also have to empty my shit off of the bookcase in the nursery to make room for baskets and some baby items, etc.
For some reason this post has me in panic mode....i must do everything, RIGHT NOW!!! But first I will take a nap I-)

I think we're doing okay. It ended up being more work than I thought, just because we had DD's stuff to go through, and then decide what we wanted to get. And then we found out we were having twins, and had to go back to the drawing board again on making the list of things to get. We have all the essential things, and going to a mother of multiple's garage sale on Thursday to see if there's anything we forgot. With babies not going past the middle of September, it's not that far away!!
This seriously makes me feel so much better. This is our first baby and we're going by all these "must-have" and "to-do before baby" lists. We've got the crib ordered (currently on it's way up here), plenty of clothes, some diapers and wipes, car seat & stroller that we just bought last week and the diaper bag.. No hospital bag packed yet or anything set up for our sons nursery.. It's beyond comforting to know so many other soon-to-be parents are in the same boat. Fingers crossed we all have as much time as we think.
I feel like I literally have nothing ready.. Our house is for sale, so we have no room ready for her, and nothing set up. We are staying with my parents until our house is built early next year, so we will just have a bassinet. I have a few outfits that I bought, and other stuff from DD. I am having a sprinkle next month, so we shall see what I get from that Whatever else I will need I will get within the few weeks of my scheduled c-section.
Big items are purchased and up (sans the stroller, but I live where it snows A LOT so I think I will be baby carrying during those months). I have the room painted and the big furniture in place. Still needing a lot of little items, changing pad, bottles, breast pump, etc. No baby shower for me sadly...so I am really trying to think about how I am going to get all these extra little items! Good luck to everyone who is in the same boat and trying to get everything together too.
Close enough! Definitely some things to do yet but with this being our second kid a lot is done and what needs to be done can probably survive without being done! Ex, crib needs to be raised, nursery actually organized, and a few other things but close enough....
10 weeks to go and we're nowhere near ready. The only things bought are a pack of diapers and wipes. Hopefully this little girl doesn't arrive till after the baby sprinkle.
I'm 31 weeks and if she was born today I would be ready. I'm a total control freak so I am trying to control all that I can before she's here knowing I will control NOTHING again the moment she arrives. I'm nesting hard core and driving my husband crazy. Lol. Good luck everyone.
Now that I've read this thread, I feel like maybe I should do something to prepare. I've done nothing whatsoever. If course this is baby #3 and my oldest is 3 so we have a lot of baby stuff still hanging around. I do need to get at least a box of newborn diapers and dig out DS1's newborn clothes to wash. I figured I'd do all that when I go on maternity leave at almost 37 weeks. We also need to get our infant car seat out. I need to wash the cover. I keep thinking I still have SO much time. My first 2 both came 4 days early and going on maternity leave at 36 weeks was more than enough time to get everything ready for them. Of course, then my days off work were filled with only myself and then only 1 LO to take care of. It is much busier now! However, at this point, I still feel so relaxed about everything.
Definitely not ready! I keep thinking that I have plenty of time. Then I realize that I only have 9 weeks left and I have GD so there is a good possibility that LO will come earlier.
I'm happy that so many moms have listed what they need to do... that helps me determine what I should be doing, too. lol
The painter is taking over the house on Saturday and that will include painting a wall in our son's room "Sunspot" yellow.
I've registered for my shower (9/6). And I purchased an awesome diaper bag from Tory Burch while on vacation. A client threw an adorable surprise shower for me and I got a few blankets and onesies. Plus, I've purchased a grand total of 4 cute onesies in various sizes.
Macy's is having a killer sale this weekend and while the painter is here, I'll be there shopping for the little one during the Doorbuster sale.
I'll get his travel system right after my baby shower (Summer Infant Fuze System). I guess that's when I'll get his crib (BRU) and dresser (undecided), too. One of the PP posted a glider that I've seen at BRU, but now that I've seen it in a nursery --- gotta have it!
Idk when to pack my hospital bags. I guess when my weekly update tells me to...
You ladies have made me a wee bit anxious. I might spend my Saturday at my parents' house developing a weekly agenda to knock out more of this baby stuff.

I can't wait to meet my Kenyan-Bajan-American sweet pea.
I'm supposed to be nesting and have things ready? Missed that memo. No we are not ready by any means. We need to paint the room figure out furniture placement due to it's also a guest room. Only have a few things as far as clothes. Do have the car seat in a box in the guest bathroom. My husband is traveling for work a few times before baby shows up. I am thinking I'm not getting a baby shower so I'll have to go buy what we still need after we get home from vacation next month. In no way do I even feel remotely ready. But doesn't surprise me that we are no where near being ready.
