Wedding weekend is over, minus some family stragglers (darn it), and it feels so good to have my house back and life returning to normal. This morning my neighbor asked my mom when she would be back and my mom had a meltdown. Cue ugly crying and a ruined day.
Totally in tears. We were supposed to kayak tonight for my birthday but I just called the place and apparently someone gave out the wrong info to me last week and they aren't open tonight. I'm seriously bummed.

April 14 August Siggy Challenge- "This time last year.."
4 month shots today. I'm scurrrred because she seems totally fine now, but I'm just waiting for the crazy to happen. It's like mega meltdown Russian Roulette.
*****warning, a LOT of gifs to follow. If you hate them, gtfo right meow******
@aprilmay9 and @poru, I've brought some gifs in hopes of improving your day a tiny bit...
I hope your days go by quickly like this ice cream sandwich machine,
And that when the work day ends, you'll be like
And when you pick up your LO's, they'll be like
and you're like this:
And then you have a nice snuggle together
And that each day gets a little easier for you. And if it doesn't, here are some things to help:
practicing for friday...FFMC: There is a hot dog man outside of my office. I get a hot dog almost every single time I walk by. Even if I had lunch literally 30 seconds prior. And I know that hot dogs are on the list of foods you should NEVER eat. But they are so good.
We're going to a Reds game on Sunday and I'm going to eat at least two. Also, whenever we go to Costco I always get a hot dog.
CDibg mamas: Is salt water bad for my hemp/ bamboo inserts?
This is an odd question. Are you going swimming in lake Mono? I think the biggest risk would be to PUL but if it's just the insert I don't think it would be a big deal. But I'm not 100% sure. I know a lot of CD mamas that let their babies wear fitteds at the beach with no problems.
DS had his 4 month shots today. He was a crying mess during the dr exam because he was so tired and that was before the shots we are now home and I am letting him sleep in my arms for as long as he wants. Poor little guy.

Question for btdt moms or anyone else who might know: OG rolled over a few weeks ago but now won't do it at all. She was a pro at it and now fusses the entire time. Normal?

DD2 did this as well. Rolled and then now won't roll at all now. I've decided I don't care. But we are lucky if we get tummy time once a day.
$230 on school supplies!?! Seriously, the teachers need to calm the fuck down with these lists. I went through and did the math, with the quantity I've bought off the list, each kid would have to go through 3 pencils and 128 sheets of paper A DAY. And they're even brand specific, the expensive brands. Erg....
@dani+california yup they are birthmarks (often called stork bites). Both my boys have them, but once DS1's hair got thick enough they aren't really visible. So far his haven't gone away, but they may as he gets older.
I feel sorry for A's future teachers if we're unable to go the homeschooling route, they're going to get earfuls from me alllll the time about shit like that. XD
A14 Siggy Challenge (November): Favorite Fall Smell
This leap/sleep regression needs to end! @-) A won't sleep longer than half an hour (if I get lucky) unless she's laying on DH or I. I know I should appreciate the cuddles, but I have shit to get done, kid! I would attempt wearing her, but last time I tried to get her into one of our mei tais she freaked the hell out. =/
On the upside (sort of), DH watched her for most of the weekend aside from when she needed to eat, and at one point he sighed and said, "God, I need a break and it's only been about 6 hours! Poor honey, you do this 12 hours a day all week long!" XD

Yah, the pencil quantity baffles me. I can't tell you how many supplies I've bought over the years that come home barely touched at the end of the year. Composition books in multiple colors, unopened boxes of markers, pencils, index cards. In our district if one teacher has a supply request, it goes on the list even if the other teachers at that grade level won't be using them.
Dude, kids go through pencils like sofa king fast. They break them, lose them, so-and-so steals them, take them home, forget to bring them to class... Pencils were the bane of my existence as a teacher, especially at middle school level. I would make kids leave a shoe to borrow a pencil and I would still end up with no pencils halfway through the nine week rotation.

Exactly! My mom taught kindergarten and at the end of the year she had a TON of paper towel, hand sanitizers, baby wipes. She'd give them to me. If one teacher needed 90 packs of index cards, it'd be on the master list. I swear every list gets longer and more expensive every year!
Oh guyswithpets! I got this hard floor vacuum thing. I don't know what they're called but they're small and recharge. Anyway, they are awesome for pet hair. I have four pets and 700 acres of hardwood floors and have to use it every day. Saves a ton of time and you don't sweep crap in the air.
@Ashleypixie I was just saying earlier today that I want a roomba. Cleaning floors will be the death of me!
@dani+california I'm a little late on this one, but dd and I both have matching birthmarks (stork bites) on the back of the neck and on the forehead, though mine are much more faint
What happens if you just say no and don't send your kid with the "right" stuff?
You don't get penalized for it or anything, I just feel like an ass if my kid shows up with nothing. I even feel bad if I forget even one little thing even though It's just 50 less pencils out of 1,200. It's a lot of money, not every family with more than one kid can get everything, I think it's kind of shitty to put that much pressure on people. There are a few things they can take off the list.
Does anybody know what these red patches are? He's had them since birth. Are birthmarks ever red?
Yup, Willa has them too- our pedi called them "salmon patch birthmarks" and they usually fade over time. Fun fact, she has three different types of birthmarks and when naked looks like a rainbow dalmatian. And I love it.
@dani+california yes you can have red birthmarks I call it a strawberry one some people say wine tho My brother has a huge on on the back of the centre of his neck in his hair line My LO has a similar one but his is nowhere near as huge.
Sounds like you and Q had the same afternoon as we did .
As for the stork bites, Ryver has one in the middle of her forehead. It's getting darker so it looks like we will have to start saving money to have laser treatments done.
I don't feel I can justify buying a special dog hair vacuum for my 800sqft house which is 100% hardwood and tile.
Also not buying fancy a** school supplies if they go to school at all. Since both girls are unvaccinated it seems unlikely unless we get health insurance. I was looking at the enrollment forms for preschool and the first 3 things on the list: copy of current years physical, copy of this years dental exam, copy of current vax record. I stopped reading after that, since it pretty much ruled my child out of preschool. How can public schools require these things of they don't pay for them?
Are you both talking about aerated chocolate? DH brought bubble chocolate home with him from krygistan. Willy wonks makes a US version but it's crappy chocolate.
@dani+california I just don't see how they can require those things if they don't pay for them since they say school is mandatory. We don't have insurance because we can't afford it do the girls don't have any of the 3 things on the top of the preschool list. So it seems that it's a good thing that I want to homeschool as it's our only option. I don't want them to pay, I just don't want those things to be mandatory.
I think it was meant if it is required to attend public school then shots and such should be made available to all regardless of income or insurance status.

This, but because I have lowered my IQ d/t having kids I could put it into words. Words are so hard.
@RedDawnsRevenge are there any Head Starts by you? They should be able to put you in touch with local resources for free physicals and dentals. And the preschool is free. They also can't *require* physicals, although they will work with you to get one. You know they're important, you're a nurse. :-) I don't personally agree with your views on vax, but you should be able to sign an exemption for personal/religious reasons to get around the vax "requirement."

My DH and I are both s.o.l. for health insurance, but kiddo is covered under medicaid with minimal effort (you're broke, you show your income, they cover your baby). All of his well visits and vaccinations are covered 100%. Pretty sure he also gets pediatric dental visits. Have you looked into assistance?
Not to be a dick but preschool germ factories scare me and it makes me feel much better about preschool someday knowing vaccines are mandatory.
Even though most school districts day vaccines are "mandatory," families can get out of them by signing a personal or religious exemption. Some states are mandating "education" (some video?) for families who chose the exemption. There are plenty of unvaccinated kids in our community and therefore plenty that will be attending school with my kids someday. I understand true religious reasons for failing to vax, but most of the anti-vaxers I meet are choosing not to because of the fear of autism. [-(
