  • Sooooo if your LO spits up after a feeding do you try to re-feed to compensate?

Unrelated- are our kids old enough to start "crying it out" a bit? I hate listening to him cry, but I want to encourage a little self soothing too. He can get his paci back in his mouth about 1/3 of the time.

No I'm not @dani+california‌, but thank you for asking! I just had my period, so at least I know I'm not pregnant. Just hope it's not a stomach bug or anything. Ds has a cold, so I guess I could be getting that.

Eta- @pineconey‌ I do not feed more to compensate for spitting up. My DS has severe reflux, so feeding more would cause more spit up and burning. Of course, you may not have a problem with that, so you could try to see if your LO tolerates it.

I don't compensate for spit up but if he spits up a ton and then acts hungry earlier than he normally would I feed him sooner (otherwise he doesn't eat sooner than two hours but he does better at 2.5 to 3 hr intervals)

And this nap fighter definitely cries it out once every other day or so. About three to five minutes of hardcore loud fussing and then he goes silent- sure enough, he fell asleep. We are at exactly three months.
  • @poppyseedwindsor, just for clarification, is that supposed to be 1/2 cup beer and 1/2 cup apple cider?

I have a recipe for a german potato and sausage casserole that calls for sour kraut.  I'm going to make it for dinner tonight with this recipe.

DH keeps telling me I'm awesome but his actions aren't there- it's like his life hasn't changed and since I'm handling it he can go about his day as per usual.

This is what I have been saying on repeat since week 6 (after the newborn fog lifted). Super supportive DH but when it comes down to it 100% of things in my life have changed. He's at 15%. He works same hours, sleeps all night and works out. Granted I know he tries but I get so frustrated.
I am sorry @Holljade‌, don't worry you're not alone. I am having a convo this weekend with DH about what he can do to help me. Good luck!!
All of this. I just made a chore chart for us and DH has been doing great. I thought he'd laugh but I guess he just didn't know how to help.

    @twirple Indeed!

Confession: I also eye my recipes a lot. If it seems like too little or too much liquid, feel free to change it as needed!

ETA: If you don't have cider, use water and add some sugar, agave or honey. Maybe 2 TBSP worth.

Why won't the bump update my siggy?! I've tried to update it several times, it even shows the code for a baby birthday ticker. I clicked save a gabillion times, yet it still keeps showing the "you're a million weeks pregnant' one. Any suggestions?

My little guy started doing this new thing where he won't nap without a bit of a cry when I put him down. He wakes up to cry. I try to wait it out and not pick him up right away, but I pat and rub him, talk to him or hush him, use white noise and any rocking/vibrating functions on whatever he's lying in. That's not really real cry it out because I'm soothing him, but I do let him cry a little if it's a fussy cry rather than a shrieky cry. Sometimes he settles down to sleep, sometimes he gets more worked up and totally awake. I'm thinking that's what you mean by "CIO" in quotes, and I think that's fine. I wouldn't do the real Ferber thing at this age.
I do the same thing. Merriwether wakes up with shrill gas cries...I let her cry without picking her up, but I do the shushing and calm voice talking.

    Aaand because LO is napping...

    Travel question for RTT!

If you had to choose between driving 10 hours to a place and then driving 10 hours back, or flying with one connection and two 1.5 hour flights each way, which would you choose?

Both would be done with baby but without any adult support.  Flying you would have to be bringing a carseat for gate check with LO as a lap baby.

  • I don't think my DH agrees with me but I would say drive. You can stop, control the environment (ac, music, etc), and unless your LO hates the car, sleeping will probably happen a large portion of the ride.

  • And I do take probiotics. Does that get rid of the infection or just prevent it?

I'll try that app, thank you!

I think prevent. Will help your LO if you're breastfeeding too (I'm sorry, I'm HORRIBLE at remembering who does what here).

Just make sure when you go back in/call to know what type of antibiotics you're on. And tell them whether you had a culture done or not. If you didn't, chances are they'll have you do one. I had to go to the ER for mine (It was 3 am and I was dyyyyyyying) and they didn't do a culture but just pumped me full of an antibiotic that didn't work.

It would just be a bummer for you to go through what I went through (incontinence, itching, burning, yeast infection from all the antibiotics, hating all of the things)!! I hope things clear up fast!

Also have you tried AZO? You might want to check to see if you can take it while BF...I know it's a no no while pregnant.
I have been taking AZO with a probiotic in it...I seriously hope it's okay to take while breastfeeding..I've been taking it for like a week. Everything I found online said it was okay.
Left a message at the urgent care I went to and hopefully I can go in as a doctor appointment instead of clinic...should be cheaper no?
It should be and typically they fill prescriptions there for cheap as well. If you get UTIs chronically also look into cranberry pills. I had UTIs for 6 months straight (turns out infections never really went away). But the cranberry pills helped keep it away... I stopped after 2 months of no recurrences. Good luck----UTIs are the worst!!!!!!!

If I was traveling alone I would probably fly with a baby under 9 or 10 months old. After a year old I would choose the drive choice. There is no way to entertain a baby by yourself on a 10 hour car trip. Once they are a year old, some books, yo gabba gabba or other special occasion things will make the car trip easier.

I agree with this. If you have help then drive, but If you're alone then fly. I just completed an 8 hour trip with LO by myself and it was hard. I left at 2 am, so he would sleep and he still woke up 2-3 times each way.

I was just perusing activities to go try nearby. I wanted to find a glassblowing class, but found a live art drawing session instead. The last note on the session says they are always looking for new models. I kindof want to go be a model. With A. Like go NIP and get paid for it while people draw me.
    Am I crazy?

I'd totes do it. How much they pay?

@poppyseedwindsor now my TP to my DH sounds pretty pitiful.  I haven't been away from LO in 3 weeks, so I pumped a quick small bottle for him to watch LO and headed out for an hour or two to shop.  I found a few cute things and headed home, called DH and LO is screaming his head off, and DH just says get home fast.  I figured he'd flown through the bottle and was losing his mind hungry.

Nope, full bottle next to screaming baby, and DH says, he just wants boob instead.  Eyeroll...

So I'm making him pick up red wine and carrot cake after his workout as penance.

@mommyofmac I blame Jellysparkles's siggy... And now I'm suddenly concerned I'm having a braindead moment and her name isn't Jellysparkles at all, but really Jellysprinkles...

    Is this real life?

As someone who just did a road trip with LO a few weeks ago by myself, I would choose flying any day. Will you be by yourself? If so, definitely fly. That was the longest, most stressful drive of my life.
Definitely by myself.  We just did a long road trip with DH and it was fine, that's why I'm on the fence.

According to my sister the pear is the best. So far I haven't found it. The store down the street sells 5types of angry orchard but not the pear! The elderberry was wicked good. Tastes just like martinelli's cider.
  • And @RedDawnsRevenge‌ what about the green apple flavor or cinnamon? I am obsessed with angry orchard but never branch out.

Haven't tried the green apple yet. They have cinnamon? I need this. I love cinnamon. This and the pear are my new quest.

Look at this ad for Lysol douche I found in a 1949 Cosmo. Can you freaking imagine? The only way to keep your husband is to get rid of the rank from your nasty snatch.
Ew...but he'd want it to smell like Lysol? *gag*
You too can have a pine fresh snatch.

DH called a little bit ago and apparently broke his foot at his workout.  Said he jogged out in front of a truck during the run, and had to jump out of the way, twisting his foot in the process.  Yay, ER... :(
