  • I miss my ipad.  Huge FWP that I have to open my laptop, wait for it to turn on and get on TB.  So much easier to keep up with everything on the ipad.  Who knew I'd actually be on TB more when I was at work than home on maternity leave.

I miss my iPad too. I've been without it since school was out and won't get it back until next spring when my year of leave is over. DH bought me (us) a new Chromebook, insisting it was the same or better, but it's just not. I'm an Apple girl forever. Major FWP.
  • Baby girl just lost her umbilical cord stump. I am totally grossed out by the whole thing. I made the mistake of waking DH up to ask him if he wanted to see it before I threw it away and now he's making me save it. No offense to those of you that are saving yours but the whole thing is so ewwww to me.

Mine lost hers today too, and as grossed out as I was about the whole process, I haven't thrown it away! I will though, because ew.

Today is my due date and I gotta feeling this shit isn't happening. Here's hoping I am wrong.
  • We threw ours away, too, and had a few friends comment that we were supposed to save it.....hell no did I want to keep that thing anywhere! I don't get why anyone would be sentimental over that.

  • Turn off The Price Is Right and go pump....

This is why I don't turn the tv on.

  • I had my placenta encapsulated and the gal made a little heart out of the umbilical cord and put it in a nice little cloth keepsake bag. I haven't done anything with it because I feel so eww about the whole thing but I feel bad since she went through the trouble to make it "cute" or memorable or keepsake-ish.

@Tbags83 , I'm so glad to hear your little girl is doing better!

@Lizzy42‌ @Dserpaa‌ Ok! 3 weeks (and 1 day) post csection. I've been semi cleared for gentle, slow jogging. No stroller and soft steps. She said the issue is the sudden jarring motion of the steps separating the tissue inside, but since I'm an experienced runner- if I can run with soft steps, it should be ok. And I've been walking 5-10k a day since the end of week 1. My incision is completely healed and it's been 3 days since I've had any bleeding. But, she did say NO long distances, short, easy jogs only. Stop if there's any inkling of pain. No other exercising, not even hand weights. And 8 weeks for sex? I thought 6. I'm ok with that. It was 6 after I had DS1, I'm sure of it.
Good to hear your bleeding has stopped. I am really hoping mine does soon! And then maybe I can get some pool time in before summer is over.

  • I've been super horny the past 2 days. Yay hormones & not being able to do anything for 6 weeks. I am sure I am alone on this & yes its been less than a week since I had my section but I can't wait to do it!!

Hopefully the hormones chill out a little so my 6 weeks are not that much torture.

When they took my baby for his check out screening he came back with scratches all over his face............ I had the best experience with all the nurses that cared for me but I definitely gave this one the evil eye.

I completely feel your pain. I am in the same boat... I was actually surprised that I was in the mood and so disappointed I couldn't capitalize on it!

On another note... I apparently overdid it yesterday and started bleeding again despite having not bled in a week. Definitely gave myself a heart attack thinking something was wrong until I spoke with the midwife.

Just received our hospital pictures in the mail and they're HORRIBLE. Once they enlarged them, they became all blurry. The one picture we actually really wanted (DH kissing DD'S head, for MIL) has a stupid boarder around it advertising mom360 and DD is not even in focus! Thankfully we ordered the USB drive of all the images. I'm hoping I can at least Photoshop her face scratches, eye boogies and try to refocus some of the images. Then have them reprinted at staples. Seriously the biggest waste of $150!

Heads up on the bleeding.  It might come back.  I stopped somewhere around week 2, or so I thought.  About a week later it started back up again and finally let up 2 days ago (though the last week or so was very light spotting, but still liner worthy).

I've got my PP appointment Thursday morning.  Looking forward to being cleared for working out with my trainer!
  • Ok ladies, if you are able to BF and will be pumping at any point to stock up (be it for a night out, going back to work, whatever), look into Milkies!  I'd heard about it last time around and decided to get it this time.  Just tried it for the first time and got maybe .5 oz from one side while nursing off the other and it's a night time feeding when supply isn't as great.  Can't wait to see what I get in the morning from just sitting there!  Every little bit helps!

I know someone else mentioned using Milkies recently (not sure what thread), but I just needed to add my woohoo to it.
  • My Boston got sprayed by a skunk. And my house now smells like skunk. The dogs have been washed with tomato stuff and a baking soda/peroxide/soap mixture, and I currently have cups of vinegar all over the house and cinnamon baking in the oven along with 3 loads of laundry I'm working on if towels and rugs. DH and I watched the Happiest Baby on the Block tonight...the pessimist in me wonders how many takes they took to get the baby to actually calm. The optimist in me though hopes this is the final piece of the puzzle and my body will decide this overdue lady is ready for her baby!
My dh is really good with the sideways hold from that video...it works for him every time! A lot of it is common sense, but it was helpful to watch.

  • This should probably go in a b - fest thread, but since it's Wednesday (i think?) I'll do it here:

DH's parents are great. They are truly kind and generous, salt of the earth kind of folks. But they are always too busy to see us. Before the baby was born, I hadn't seen my MIL since Christmas. DH and DS had gone up where she lives 4.5 hours away to see monster trucks back in May, but that was a one night trip only. She hasn't made time to come down here since last summer.

So when we were making plans for how we were going to transition my son after baby was born, they weren't a factor. We figured they would let us know when they could come down, most likely a week or two after she was born just like with DS. We would have time with my mom to keep his schedule somewhat consistent for the first week or two.

Nope! MIL comes down immediately, FIL is coming tonight because he had to finish some stuff up at home first. MIL has been a help mostly, but DS is in a tailspin because in the last 4 days, I went into the hospital for three of them, brought a baby home, and his days don't even remotely resemble themselves because MIL is here and my mother hasn't come in days because it is just too many people.

My son's personality is almost unrecognizable, and we are only on day 5. If it were a normal day, my mom would take him to her gym (he loves their daycare because they have cars to drive) and then to their community park to play in the sprinklers. She would bring him home tired and happy. What's he doing instead? Hanging out at home wondering why i can't play much and sitting on the deck with grandma being bored. Kill me.

I should have put my foot down, but i had no idea how much this would affect him (or not), and i truly was excited for them to see her...like I said, I love them a lot - hindsight is 20/20 I guess :( I just want my happy kid back.

  • Is it weird to bring my own pillow to the hospital.. I feel like I might look like a kid going to sleep-a-way camp walking in carrying a pillow? Excessive??

Our birthing class instructor recommended it, but she did advise getting a waterproof cover you don't really care about in case they bring baby right up to you after birth because all the birth gunk tends not to wash out.. or only use it in recovery.

Oh that is a good point! Didn't even think of that! Thanks!!!
