I want all of the berry desserts now! I haven't missed living in Oregon more than I am right now, knowing it's berry season.
@poppyseedwindsor The raspberries are freakin' amazing right now.  We have blown through 10 lbs of them like nothing!
I sort of hate you right now. But you know, only in the hangry way.
Hehe, sorry.  If I could teleport some berries over to you, I would. :)

    What is it?
  • @purespark‌ your DH cans with you?! Dude we have 14fruit trees and most of the fruit is wasted because I have no help. I have friend who say they want to learn to can but when the season comes they are magically absent.

I was just listening to the news and heard my suburb mentioned so I looked at the tv and apparently mosquitoes in my town are testing positive for West Nile virus. I'm never taking my baby outside again!

Our county tests positive every year it sucks!
Same here, only horses ever seem to contract it however.
  • Kids totally see ghosts! When my grandmother passed away, the whole family got together for her funeral. We drove back to Québec to attend and so did a cousin who also lives out of the province. Her daughter had never met my grandma, she was 3 at the time.

The night she arrived, they weren't in the door 5 seconds when her daughter pointed to the top of the stairs and said 'c'est qui ça?' (Who is that?) Nobody was there. When my cousin asked 'who's where sweetie?', her daughter described an old lady at the top of the stairs, looking down at everyone. The description (hair colour and body type) was my grandma's!

It was super creepy! We should have a ghost thread. Haha

Eeehhhh I just got goosebumps. We once stayed at a bed and breakfast in Newport RI which we loved until we realized it was a popular stop on a local ghost tour.

  • have most enticing blood type (O), but the boys got daddy's blood type. So usually I only put the bug spray on me, and I'm still the only one who gets bitten. :-L

Is this seriously a thing?! I have O+ blood and I am a veritable mosquito magnet!! And when I get bit, I swell up SO much and the bites stay for a week. In fact, I was just picking at a bite I got while watching fireworks last weekend.

    Off to google...

DH is O+ I'm A+ and I'm the one who gets eaten alive.

I'm A+ as well and get eaten alive. My friend posted something about the O blood type thing, but I have a hard time believing it. Not sure what my husband is (I know it's not O), and he told me I'm his best bug repellent. :P I've read that it has to do with how much carbon dioxide you put off, your acidic levels, and things like that. I'll try to find the article again.

ETA: Okay, so this is the one about the O blood type, but it basically says everything else that I did. lol

Yep it's true. I'm o+ and get eaten. H is ab+ and nothing touches him. Dd is my blood type.
    I wonder if it's more the positive blood types that get chewed to hell? All of you who have replied have a positive blood type. I'm A+ and mosquitoes never leave me alone! Plus, I'm allergic to citronella (well, lemongrass), so I can't use anything with that as a repellant. x.x;;

So today I was at the park and some random lady came over from her house and was gawking over DS. She told me all about her family (4 kids, 9 grandkids, etc.) She was very nice, but she just kept going on and on. Then she asked me if she could hold my baby for a minute. I've been watching way too much Law & Order SVU and was afraid she was going to take him (I know totally irrational). I told her that he had just woken up and I was actually getting ready to feed him. Then she asked again if she could please hold him for just a minute. I cracked and let her have him because how am I supposed to say no twice? Who asks again after the mom says no?!

ETA: She didn't take the baby
  • I get bit a ton here (Washington), but they don't get very swollen. However, we lived in Taiwan for a couple of years and my bites would swell up super huge. Also the same when we visit DH's family in Minnesota. I didn't realize there was such a variation by region.
  • So, Sullivan just had some crazy stomach episode that woke him up and scared the shit out of him. He was gagging and crying and having a terrible time, we thought it was puke related but no spit up in sight, only tons of spit/clear bile maybe? Not even snot really. I tried the boogie squeezer to help him breathe better, didn't seem to get anything out but as soon as his stomach stopped freaking out and he quit gulping down phantom vomit, he fell right back out and is now peacefully sleeping again. Wtf? Reflux? Worth a call to the pediatrician's office to speak to the nurse in the morning?
  • @fireflygirl12‌ that would have creeped me out too! Um, hi stranger at a park! I had to come out of my house to talk to you because you have a baby. Here's my life story, I have all the babies and grand babies! Can I hold your baby? I came out of my house to hold your baby. :-t
    Right?! WTAF?!!!

Regarding mosquitos, I'd get bit all the time in AK, but never swelled.  Down in SC, when I get bit, I get BIT.  It sucks.

I know 4 month sleep regression is a thing, but is 3 month?  Before the last week he was sleeping so good, 4-5 hours, up once or twice a night.  This week?  Up every two hours.  Last night?  Up every 45-90 minutes.  So. Tired.

  • If this clogged duct turns into a third round of mastitis I'm going to pull all of my hair out and give up on everything and do nothing but eat chocolate chip cookies all day long.

Also, remember when people said "I'm so mad I could punch a baby?" I guess it took having a baby for that to sound so so so wrong.

Going through the same thing here. Last night he would NOT stay asleep when he normally has no problem going down. Only thing different was he didn't have his stuffed giraffe nearby (yeah..I let him have a lovie at the bottom of the rnp. I'm not worried.) Sent DH to get it and that solved it for the rest of the night. I know they say they can't develop sleep associations this early, but seriously...

  • Growth spurt and wonder week around 12 weeks. And personally, I really wouldn't stress about transitioning from the swaddle. We swaddled until 5.5 months with DS. They won't go to preschool needing to be swaddled.
    Right there with ya Swerb!

This is LO exactly! I don't know if it's a sleeping issue or a feeding issue, maybe she's hungrier? She's also napping more often than usual. I don't really follow growth spurts or wonder weeks. I'm just assuming this phase will pass eventually. The sooner, the better. :-)

Right at 3 months DD turned into a nightmare who wouldn't sleep. It lasted maybe a week and now she's sleeping better than before.
