Uh...yea.  WTF to those stories ^^^.

I have no problem with weed being legal in theory, BUT I think a lot of the problem would come from testing.  You want to get high after work?  Cool.  But you want to get high at work?  No.  But there's really no way to test if someone is high at that moment (like a breathalyzer for alcohol), so how do you monitor that??  Same with driving!  You're still impaired; although it may be in a 'different' way than being drunk.  But again, and someone please correct me if I'm wrong, there's no test that can instantly determine your level of impairment.  So...that's my issue.
You can do a urine test for THC.  Have you worked in places where people routinely drank at work or showed up drunk?  Why would everyone start showing up at work stoned?  People can smoke pot right now so I don't see how being able to test them would become some huge issue.

I think you underestimate how much some people drink and smoke and how well they can hide it, even at work.
No.  It just doesn't create more of a problem for it to be legal.  It is already illegal to be under the influence of something when you're driving.  You already can't go to work stoned and drunk.  Legalizing it doesn't mean you can suddenly stumble around high without fear of repercussion.

@douchas My job before SAH was actually implementing and managing other companies drug testing programs lol.  At the time (2+years ago), there was no way to test if someone is actually 'under the influence'  I don't know specifics off hand but a urine test will just tell an employer or officer if you HAVE smoked pot.  If you never, ever use pot, and then one day you smoke a joint, it can take several hours for it to even show up in your urine.  So if you get high, then immediately drive, your urine, at THAT moment, may test clean even if you're impaired.  Which is unlike alcohol - if you blow a .20 on a breathalyzer, well, you're drunk.

There are saliva tests for pot where it will show up much quicker (think, you have smoke in your mouth so, there will be residue) but again, it is just a positive or negative, it wouldn't show actual impairment.

And I don't think a bunch of people will magically start getting high and working/driving, but there are also a lot of people that might because it's 'legal' even though that doesn't mean it's legal during those times.  KWIM?

ETA - for a short while before staying at home, so I'm definitely NOT an expert and I have no clue if there's new technology or anything.

I think maybe Canadians have a more lax view on pot. I live in the pot capital of Canada, and basically people of all ages smoke here. I've been gardening in the evening after the kids are asleep, and the smell of weed from both my (50-something) neighbors is always drifting on the breeze. Both have kids and smoke outside every day. Both calm, pleasant, friendly people. My sister uses it for pain and smoked on our deck without anyone batting an eye. (While the kids were inside, of course.) it just doesn't seem like a big deal here.

My Sister had kidney failure from some crazy disease last year. She was on dialysis and had her donor kidney all set. (She had her transplant in December and is doing beautifully). She couldn't take meds without getting sick while on dialysis. THE only thing that helped her nausea was to smoke pot. Her MD didn't even mind! I was so grateful that something helped her feel better so quickly. And it's herbal, yo.

This UO is brought to you by a post I read on FB. I think Tom Brady and Peyton Manning are incredibly overrated and past their prime. The stats speak for themselves and neither one of them should be ranked as the number one QB in the NFL.

Ugh!! I LOVE Peyton! I wish he still played for the Colts. I like Andrew Luck but miss Peyton. He is such a class act. Tom Brady, however, can suck big zebra balls.

Well, my Mom's family all moved to GA and they are a bunch of conservative Republican Christians. They would DIE to know I feel that way. Some people think it's a horrible gateway drug, blah, blah, blah... I don't agree with that either.

I never really got the "gateway" drug thing.  Like, if you have any sort of professional in your life -- a doctor, lawyer, financial adviser, teacher -- the people we put lots of faith in -- chances are good at least one of them did pot on the regular in college.

Hahahaha I only got this far because amy#s said "did pot" hahahahaha

Seriously though, are we still talking about pot? Because I love the pot. I can't wait until I am fetus-free and baby Jesus Santa is weaned.

I love(d) the pot too. I mostly smoked in college. Not against it these days.

Dude. I smoked so much in college. Lol. Before school, after school. Sometimes in my car in the parking lot if I had a long break. And I managed to get a masters degree! Anecdotes yo!

I used to walk 25 minutes from the Optometry School back to my dorm room and get high ON the walk. My one-hitter does look just like a cigarette, yo. I may or may not have found it in the move. I may or may not have been ecstatic!!!

That sounds awful for your sister. I'm glad she found some relief from pot. I feel the same way for my sister. She has chronic pain that no one has been able to figure out, and I'd much rather she smoke pot every day than be in intolerable pain and feeling depressed. I hope things have improved for your sister!
I'm so sorry to hear about your Sister too. Is it like nerve pain? Back pain? That is so tough. My Sister is doing SO great now. 2013 was an awful year for her. She was diagnosed with her kidney disease last January and had her transplant surgery in December. It was a crappy year, front to back. We are both SO superstitious so it makes sense. 13 IS a spooky, unlucky number, after all. But to be diagnosed, go through dialysis (AWFUL), find a donor, and have her transplant surgery in under a year is pretty amazing. I really really wanted to be the donor but couldn't because I have high BP. Her donor was our cousin's husband. Awesome guy!! 2014 looks awesome for her so far. She met a great guy, he just got his Chiropractor license, she got accepted to grad school (Masters in Psychology), and is also getting certified as a yoga instructor. (She's only 24!!) So proud of her. This time last year she was SO sick. On the 4th of July she sent me a picture of her drinking a beer. (Unheard of last summer) We are all thrilled!! So hell yeah pot!

*Whew what a ramble. LOL sorry! I am just so happy for her. I cried A LOT last year...

Wow, I'm happy to hear that things turned around for your sister so much in one year! I totally hear you on the crying for your sister. Mine has had a really long struggle with mental and physical health issues (myofascial pain - it's very mysterious and sadly lots of people don't even believe in it.) I keep hoping for a happy turn in the road for her. Stories like your sister's give me hope! :)

I'm so sorry to hear this. I know it's tough to see her struggle. Mental illness makes it even worse. I have heard in myofascial pain! I used to work at an Ophthalmology practice and we had Oculoplastic specialists that came in on Mondays. How is she managing her pain? Sending HUGS!!

I can't let it go! The most perplexing part is that Russell Wilson (Seahawks QB) ranked 20th. The guy from the team that won the freaking super bowl ranked lower than the guy from the team that apparently forgot they were playing in the super bowl. And just FYI, this list is based only on last season.

    Who??

Har har. Though I did have to look him up to make sure I had the right person. I do think whoever was in charge of compiling that list has a strong bias against the Seahawks because that's some crap right there...and I don't even like the Seahawks.

Ok, that IS perplexing. I'll agree with you there. But, Peyton 4 Lyfe.
