I also worked at a pizza place during the summers at college. My manager was super cool, hippie dude, really laid back... until his fiance' pulled up one night to pick him up. She was nursing their 8 month old WHILE getting high. They said it mellowed the baby out for bed. W.T.F. ALL sorts of wrong...
Wait by pulled up do you mean she was driving? On one hand that's talent but on the other hand dear god that's terrifying.
Well no, we walked outside to see his baby, and she was already in the parking lot waiting for him. She was in the driver's seat but when she rolled her window down a huge cloud of smoke billowed out of the car, and she was nursing. It was like something you see in the movies...
I live in WA, aka land of legalized pot. It's honestly no different here than it was before it was legal, other than all of the shops popping up, haha. But I live in a college town full of students and hippies so it was super 420 friendly before. I used to be really uptight (okay, about some things I probably still am), and I thought pot was SO BAD for a really long time. I still would never smoke it, but I know so many people that do that it doesn't bother me anymore.
I have no problem with weed being legal in theory, BUT I think a lot of the problem would come from testing. You want to get high after work? Cool. But you want to get high at work? No. But there's really no way to test if someone is high at that moment (like a breathalyzer for alcohol), so how do you monitor that?? Same with driving! You're still impaired; although it may be in a 'different' way than being drunk. But again, and someone please correct me if I'm wrong, there's no test that can instantly determine your level of impairment. So...that's my issue.

Hope you called CPS on their asses.
The owner did! They fired him because they found out he was high at work for pretty much every shift. Whenever we would get too busy he would help out and deliver pizzas. I never found out what happened when CPS was called. He was fired, and that was the end of summer, so I quit that job and started classes again.

I completely agree and I cannot stand when people insist that they "drive better when they're high."
@HBirdie mentioned her college town being very 420 savvy. This is IU too! It is such a diverse campus. Downtown on Kirkwood Ave. there are so many little hippie shops. One is even called 420! Lots of flair at IU, which I love!
I love hanging around drunk people like seriously love it. Tailgating with all my drunk friends is a special kind of awesome.
I completely agree!! DH and I have our close couple friends and there's nothing like a nice wine buzz and laughing ALL night long. The thought of pot just makes me nostalgic. LOL! It's a different kind of FUN.
I support legalization. Legalize it and tax the hell out of it. We have serious budget issues that would be helped, it would reduce crime if we were no longer going after pot dealers and it's not more dangerous than alcohol with the same restrictions (no driving while high, and I do believe there is now a way to test if someone is currently high, but that's the most I've heard about it; it was a snippet on the news).
I also feel that alcohol and pot should be legal at 18, not 21. The day you're eligible for a draft card is the day you should be able to buy alcohol.

I think it's ridiculous when people always say "I don't x,y and z because it's against the law. The law. The law."
Just because it's the law doesn't make it right or wrong. Not saying to go around creating mayhem but loosen up a bit.

Why is that ridiculous? There are laws I disagree with, but I'm still bound to obey them or face consequences. If the consequence for breaking a law that you disagree with are severe you are likely to follow it even if you otherwise wouldn't. I don't think marijuana should be illegal. But I won't possess or use it because dealing with the legal consequences of doing so aren't worth the risk even though I don't feel it's unsafe to use in moderation.

I don't agree with the speed limit in out neighborhood so I will go 80 hope no kids are playing in the street that could go bad quickly. This is ridiculous.
Here's my UO.....I think it's silly to expect a bunch of men to come to bridal showers. I think it's nice for the groom-to-be to make an appearance, or even attend the whole thing if he wants to, but do you really have to invite every male relative of the bride-to-be? Actually, you know what, like most things on here, I really don't care in general....if it makes you happy, go for it...but I am annoyed that SIL expects DH to come to her shower.....I wasn't expecting to have to find a babysitter so we could both go. :P

That's the part I hate! No, I'm not paying a babysitter so we can go to a shower (which aren't my favorite thing to do anyway).

Yes, that would be ridiculous. That's why I said not creating mayhem and I'm certainly not talking about harming anyone.
Sometimes people blindly quote the law whether it's reasonable or not just because and I find that silly and sanctimonious.
What we do in our own homes is nobody's business if it doesn't affect them.
Sometimes laws are stupid, outdated, and unreasonable.
Right but if everyone picked and choose what laws they deemed outdated and decided not to follow them there would be mayhem.
I watched Disney channel yesterday and Dog with a Blog was on. Not sure if it's a confession or a UO but I liked the show! Kind of embarassing...
Pretty sure I love it!! And "Jessie!" And Austin and Allie. And "Oh No You Didn't" or "I Don't Know You" or something. LOL! I feel less like a toddler when it's real people, even disrespectful teenie boppers. I can handle so much Super Why and Daniel Tiger. Cute, but OMG already.

I will just say -- you guys are doing showers wrong then! My wedding shower was in a bar. Everyone loves unlimited booze.
Actually the shower w/ my side of the family was at a Mexican restaurant....the margaritas were flowing....it was pretty awesome. DH was around the corner at the bar w/ my dad and some of his friends. He popped in to say "hi" and help pack up presents at the end, but I didn't "require" him to be there for the whole thing. I wanted all the attention, ha!
@penguingrrl Where are pictures of your beautiful Victorian home? I have been creepily envisioning your stained glass windows.
*random rambling starts NOW. I blame the cold meds...
I haven't taken many lol! I'm really awful about remembering to take pictures and am a lousy photographer!
Back to the pot thing, are people saying that it should not be smoked anywhere where there is a kid on the premises? Certainly not where they would be exposed to smoke, but that first thing is pretty ridiculous.
I don't think kids should be exposed to smoke at all (cigarette, pot, etc) so I wouldn't allow it inside my house or car. I also ask cigarette smokers to please not do it in front of my children (combination of the health concerns, especially since one of my kids is asthmatic and the example being set). But if my kids were upstairs sleeping and someone wanted to toke up in my backyard and it were legal, sure!

Well, that kinda of shower I wouldn't mind paying a sitter for! That's a fun date. But sitting around in the sun playing games... Yeah no. Not happening.
Who said drinking age should be 18? I totally agree with that. I actually think that would do a lot to reduce sexual assaults on college campuses. I think it's safer for a girl to be drunk in a bar than drunk at a house party.

I really refrain from showing pictures of my house/yard etc on the internet. This is an open forum! I do not need lurkers knowing various indicating features of where I live. Call me paranoid.
Truth. I am just obsessed with stained glass. Yes valid point though.I didn't mean to seem like a weirdo. Nevermindz...

Yes, I think we could be friends

I was waiting for your little tie-dyed onesie to pop up and chime in.
I'm from NW Indiana, the "region" area. I grew up going to Chicago. We actually just took a trip there in May for DH's 40th birthday weekend.
