I think cash bars at weddings are totally fine. I just went to one that was BYOB. Also totally fine. Potluck weddings are a bit much, though.

I didn't do hdbd on thebump but i have an album on facebook of bump photos. with ds i did one or two a month. with dd i have like three. lol poor second child.

Hell no BYOB is tacky and the same thing as a potluck just alcohol instead of food.

Pretty sure the BYOB wedding's theme was "tacky". But I didn't mind bringing a 12 pack out to the alpaca farm. It was a lot of old people so maybe that's why they did BYOB.

That's probably true. A lot of people didn't attend because it was tacky.
But I'd rather BYOB than potluck. I don't have to cook wine. ;-)

Me too. I have pictures every few weeks with both actually. I think it is fun to go back and compare the two pregnancies. I just don't like to post pictures on the bump. Like I said last night, I think bump pictures are more fun with people I know IRL.

Yeah really is dependent on the occasion for me. a wedding for an older couple that's more of an informal party? Byob is fine. for a younger couple just starting out where I'm spending a few hundred dollars buying something off their registry? Totally judging.

My extended family is trying to get together more. I love them but two or three parties a month is a lot, especially with short notice and the expectation of a gift. One aunt threw three of her kids each a different party in a week (a college graduation, a confirmation and a going away). I went to one and brought gifts for the two gift-giving events. I guess I should be thankful they aren't potluck or byob.

Marijuana should be legal, in every state, year-round.

*I've only been posting here for a few months. This board may be way too conservative for this opinion? I'm not saying for ME, but I do have friends who smoke pot rarely and it doesn't bother me at all. It's weird that they have to act like criminals.

I don't care enough to vote it legal, but I also don't care enough to stop it from becoming legal. I've smoked before when I was younger and I think getting drunk is worse. That's just my opinion, but I always felt more f'd up when I was drunk vs just getting high. Pot just made me super chill. Art class was super interesting though.

Well, my Mom's family all moved to GA and they are a bunch of conservative Republican Christians. They would DIE to know I feel that way. Some people think it's a horrible gateway drug, blah, blah, blah... I don't agree with that either.

Yep @Aussie45‌ Being drunk comes with more risk I think, especially with all these people choosing to drive. Pot just makes you mellow and chill. SO many people mix narcotics and anxiety meds for funsies and to party, which were way over-prescribed in the first place. Pot is natural, so who cares!

I completely agree!! I smoked pot in college and rarely drank. It never made me want to try "harder" stuff. And I never ever found it to be addicting. Nicotine I'm sure is way more addicting! The one thing is that being around my college friends who smoked, it did open us up to being exposed to more drugs. I just said no! It was really NBD.

Legalized recreational drugs are one of those things that I can't decide how I feel about them. A year ago,I would have said legalize everything. Now, because of some personal stuff, I'm not so sure.

One thing I am sure of, there is no more annoying person in the world than the stoner "weed is good for everything, hemp is the miracle product, Jesus, Ghandi, and all the presidents love pot" dude. When people are obsessed with it, it's beyond annoying.

I'd far rather be in the company of someone that has smoked some pot rather than someone that is drunk. I've never seen anyone high go around trying to start fights, grab my boobs, or think that they can dance when clearly they can not.  I don't smoke it, but I don't care if others do.

Why does bad dancing bother you? It's funny and harmless. The other stuff is obnoxious for sure.

Eh my college peeps were true hippies and some of my sister's friends are too. They're genuinely good people. I don't care if they use hemp oil for everything. They are spiritual and to me it's better than all these corporate assholes snorting cocaine and cheating on their wives, on their power trip. I am not super granola like I used to be, but I think it's great.

Truth. People turn into giant assholes (not everyone) when they drink. I have never seen someone who is high act aggressive, belligerent, or confrontational. Not once!

DH loves pot. I smoked in college but at some point, maybe bc of a terrible ex, I began to hate it and now I have this stigma in my mind that ppl who smoke are losers. I know it's flawed and exaggerated. Anyways DH would love to smoke every so often esp before DD2 comes along but I'm hesitant and my main reason is our neighbors judging the smell of pot coming out of our condo. It's all nice condos and young parents with young kids in a trendy neighborhood. I told him I'd rather him go to his friends (4 single guys) a couple blocks away, smoke, and come back later, OR make brownies at their place and bring them home. It's not him being high, it's the smell. Bc let's be real I can so picture someone coming on here and saying "I smelled pot coming from my neighbors place and they have a 1.5 year old and she's pregnant, should I call the authorities?"

And I agree with you @Gastro‌ I don't mind if someone has a private stash for special occasions or a really rough day. It's the same as having a glass of wine or taking a Xanax before bed on a bad day, IMO. But people who smoke constantly and do nothing else ever, yeah you're a lazy loser. It's the same as someone who drinks all day everyday. That would be an alcoholic. Moderation is key for sure!

Agreed. It isn't the bad dancing, the point I was trying to make as people to make is that people that get too drunk and make asses of them self.

I used to work at an Ophthalmology practice, for a corneal surgeon. I kid you not, *every* summer some dumb ass hillbilly would bring their poor kid in with a corneal ulcer because their kid "ran into my cigarette and stabbed himself in the eye." WTF? That is child abuse! The dad was always drunk at a 4th of July party, blah blah blah... Awful!

I also worked at a pizza place during the summers at college. My manager was super cool, hippie dude, really laid back... until his fiance' pulled up one night to pick him up. She was nursing their 8 month old WHILE getting high. They said it mellowed the baby out for bed. W.T.F. ALL sorts of wrong...
