Swim diapers: we have 3, all iplay. One is built into trunks. I just change him right before we get in. After his first time in a real pool (with chemicals) we noticed weird bumps on his butt the next morning. Figured either a reaction to the chlorine (so gave him a bath to make sure it was all off) or some bugs got trapped and bit him. Either way it got better in a day or so. But we will be sure to give him a bath after going in the pool now.
Yeah I did a wipe down afterwards cause I was paranoid!
We had our two month shots today. On the positive side she gained enough weight to not supplement and survived the shots with just tears for a few minutes. Unfortunately she has her first ear infection . Just when I thought she was getting over this cold. At least she's a happy sick baby....
Anyone into the Tour de France? I have really enjoyed being around the house to watch the 4-5 hr daily live broadcasts. I can run around the house getting stuff done etc. when possible and can keep listening to it, plus it's decent white noise. I've just never had the time, but have been really enjoying our TDF July days.
I still cannot for the life of me figure out how to put the toddler down for a nap with a crying infant. Because of toddlers camp this week we get home an hour past his regular nap and LO wakes up the moment I pull her put of the car and she is fussy cause she didn't sleep enough. But she got enough sleep that I can't get her to nap. And the toddler gets needy and resistant if LO is in the room with us when I put him down. Sigh. The hardest part of 2 kids for me is definitely the nap and bedtime routines. I think I have finally gotten good at all the rest of the 2 kid complications.
Let me know if you figure this one out. But nap time doesn't apply to us since DD1 doesn't take them.
The only thing I really don't like about having two RTTs is that I have to do the math to figure out roughly how long this one would actually be without the second one. First world Bump problems! (

DS1 doesn't need glasses right now, so that isn't causing his headaches. However, the dr did say he is confident DS1 will need glasses in the next couple of years. Now I get to schedule a brain wave test for him. Why does all this happen when DH is gone for months?
DD has been showing a lot of interest in the tv the past few days. Nooooo. I was ok with having it on for me with her in the room but now she cranes her neck to look at it and stares at it blankly.

Lucas does this too! I'm annoyed. Not matter which way I lay him he finds a way to look at it
Yeah W is obsessed with screens! We rarely have a TV on when she's awake, but if we're walking by one or passing the computer she is mesmerized and all like:
@pineconey what is this necklace you speak of? Explain it to me.
Wooden beads knotted in fabric. Safe for baby to pull/chew on and fashionable for momma. I've made 2 so far.
Do you have directions or am I over thinking this?
I sewed a 4 inch wide piece of fabric into a long tube then turned inside out and added the wooden beads, knotting in between each. Added ribbon to the ends.

I feel like I've gone down several iq points since getting pregnant and definitely since giving birth. Some days I just feel so brain dead and lack sense. I just spent 20 seconds mulling over the correct spelling of temperature.
Most definately. I really don't think I got the iq points I lost from the first one back either. DH even commented to the same the other day. Ouch
Tomorrow we leave for Denver, DS's first airplane ride. I'm nervous he will cry the whole time. Luckily it's only a 1 1/2 hour flight from Minneapolis to Denver but the time spent boarding/deboarding the plane will make the time longer. He isn't good at sitting in one place for very long and it usually takes a good amount of crying before he'll fall asleep. He also can be finicky about eating in public, bf or bottle. Yikes. Wish us luck!!

I just had an internet date and got some cheesecake to go to split with my husband. I accidentally ate about 2/3 of it then felt shame so I finished it and destroyed the evidence.
Oops... I got hungry on the drive home
Haha. And your son was so excited to share! Sorry daddy.
the sad thing is, my husband is used to it at this point. he barely even batted an eyelash, although we all did agree that it was very rude of me to eat the entire thing (kiddo is very into what's rude vs. what's not rude at this age). my husband knows anything containing sugar is automatically mine by some unwritten rule of gastronomic eminent domain.
i would not touch a 3 hour nap either! if it was 3-6pm, that might be a different story, but assuming you're doing bedtime anytime after 7ish, that's still plenty of time for the baby to get tired again.
in general, i don't touch naps.
ETA: that was to @dani+california from like... 5 pages back. i don't read RTT that often, so i didn't realize i was so backed up and not into the new stuff from today.
@Jennmoak I hope things have settled down around there. That is scary to be in the summer danger zone where fire nearby could happen any day. We deal with similar fire issues in the mountains of CO and I have been thinking a lot lately about our new evac plan with baby.
Thank goodness things have settled down. It is so dry around here it's scary. We live at the top of a ridge with a one lane driveway and it sure does make me uneasy thinking about our evacuation route :-S
LO is so overtired she just screamed for an hour before we finally just out her in the swing and she passed out. I'm nervous to take her out and put her to bed now.
Mama win: NIP twice today, with a waitress at our dinner restaurant praising me for it! She tapped me on the knee as she went zooming by and told me, "Thank you for nursing in public! I'm a big believer in that!"
Mama fail: Unbuckled A-game from the car seat while we shopped in the mall, and utterly forgot to denuclearize her when I put the car seat back in the car. Thankfully it was only a 5-minute drive down the street to BRU, but I nearly started bawling when I realized it! (
Edit: Denuclearize = rebuckle. WTAF, autocorrect?! O.o When have I EVER typed "denuclearize"??

@mamrotu73 awesome!!!!!! Your flight plan sounds wonderful- hope you have great day!!!
@macgrs I have NPR on in the background at home when its too quiet, but I never pay attention to the stories. In the car, I actually listen because I'm not multitasking. Nerd confession: I love calling in to shows and I really, really want to get picked for Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me!
Had to drive my boyfriends cousin to Toronto last night so we decided to stay the night and have his mom keep Chase since Thursdays are my day off. Went to my favorite bar here while was across the street from my hotel. Was looking through pictures on my Photo stream we took at that bar 3 years ago and noticed the bartender was the same person. Proceeded to show him the picture on my phone and ask for a new one. He asked me if I had the hots for him and have been thinking about him for 3 years. IM SO CREEPY. It's official I am not allowed to drink.
