S/O fireworks, we just ordered these for LO. We're going somewhere pretty close to the display and LO will be 3 weeks old, so I'm erring on the side of caution. ETA: And... they're so darn cute.
Hopefully you don't have a super sqirmy baby! DS was constantly ripping things off in the NICU. I don't think he'd tolerate these. They are super cute though!
Like... How much I love bf-ing as an excuse to leave the room with LO when I've had enough of visitors.
I did this Sunday when we had people show up. I was so overwhelmed and I just sat up in the nursery way longer than I needed to and snuggled her because I knew once I went back downstairs she'd get snatched again.

I hate how everyone snatches the baby. I take my time, too.
Also, I HATE how people come in and look at my stomach, to see how I'm doing with losing weight. I'm clearly self-conscious, but they're obvious and rude!
I pumped 14 oz total while at work today which left me more optimistic about keeping up with DS when he starts daycare. It was hard to know how much I could pump when he wasn't latching on at all beforehand. I have a feeling I will fall behind eventually since there is waste and they tend to overfeed but it was a great start.
Poor LO shafts like crazy and his butt is so red and tender. I've been using desitin and/a&d and its not doing much. Anyone have suggestionsn what else to try? Maybe that Earth Mama stuff?
Make sure you wipe then pat dry before you put anything on. I use Burt's bees and original destin to create a thick barrier. It worked great. Also, air time as much as possible.
@yellowbird219 we use mama medicines sweet bee magic. Its awesome and available on amazon. A little goes a super long way, and its edible so you can use it on drool rash when teething starts.

I've been using the purple desitin. It usually clears it up in a day or 2
I gotta give major props to those who are doing cloth diapers. My lo goes through so many in a day if I was doing CD I would never get a break from laundry.
LO took 1oz of BM in a bottle today! The goal is to replace one feeding a day once we get used to a bottle. Tomorrow we will try the same thing. And LO did pretty well on our first grocery shopping trip.
C and I survived our first outing on our own. My mom has been with us when we went out but now that she's home were on our own. Went to the mall, grocery shopping and he had his blood drawn. He did so well. I'm so happy!
I have an irritational distain for the Pioneer Woman. She seems so fake to me.
I actually like her recipes that I've tried but holy crap I hate how she says "the ranch" and "the guys." (Normally, people saying "guys" doesn't bother me, I'm originally from Chicago) Something about that makes my skin crawl. And seriously what is up with her obsession with "cowboy josh?!"
I do like some recipes - apparently most of them are copied from other sources. It's irritating that she acts like she's in the middle of nowhere but she can drive her kids to soccer and she has a house cleaner :-w

You aren't the only one. Do a quick Google search for the Marlboro Woman. There's a whole online community of people with an irrational disdain for her!

I left DD home with DH so I could get my nails done for the first time in a month. It was fabulous!
My first solo outing will absolutely be for a pedicure.
I can't decide if I want to go for a pedicure or a massage. One the one hand, I've been dying for a real massage now that I can lay on my stomach again (I had a few side-laying prenatal massages and they just weren't the same). On the other hand though, I have a gift certificate for a pedicure and my toes are looking pretty sorry. #firstworldproblems
I might hurt H tonight. C has been super fussy since H got home. I can't put him down without him screaming. This makes H tell me that I hold him too much and he's being "coddled". I told him you can't spoil a newborn and he looks at me like I'm an idiot and disagrees. Then I was trying to finish dinner when C was needing to eat so I told H to feed him. He got mad and told me that C will just need to cry so he could finish his laundry. Um no. I told him he was getting a glimpse into my daily juggling act and his response..."well you wanted this". What?! I about punched him in the face.
@ricecakes1216 o would have punched him. That's a shitty thing to say. I just got told that I should pump if having my son scream at my boon upsets me so much, and then when h was walking g him around, he told charlie that mommy as having a nervous breakdown! Screw you. I know they don't get it, how can they really, bit how about some support and reassurance?
LO is 7 weeks old today which means that I only have 5 weeks left of maternity leave. I'm spending more time than I probably should be thinking about how sucky going back to work will be. I'm going to miss my son terribly and will only get to BF during lunch and at night. Any suggestions on how to make the transition easier?
So I applied for a new position and I think as long as my current supervisor is ok with me switching departments then I will get it. It is going to be a suspenseful few weeks til it is all ironed out!
I had my 6 week appointment today. Cleared with no restrictions and I'm down 34 pounds! My baby weight plus 20 extra! I was shocked, but in a good way.
@ktcort13 - I nursed in the bank parking lot and the Target parking lot today alone. You do what you gotta do
Nursing in the target fitting room is much more comfy! I also frequent nordstrom a lot because they have a cushy mothers lounge next to the bathroom that has nice sofas. And your toddler can get a balloon from the shoe dept. No purchase necessary
Yeah I'm a big fan of fitting rooms until LO has enough head control to nurse under a cover. At this point I have to have the whole boob out and grab it while pointing the nipple at lo's mouth. I am not comfortable with that in public yet. I'll come around in the next month or so.
A friend from high school had her baby the same day I had C. She had a girl and is constantly posting parenting tips. Today's is how bad circumcision is. I don't care what others chose for their child and if people have opinions, but constant posting on FB annoys me. To each their own, don't judge someone for making a choice for their child unless it's truly harming them.
So my LO likes to lay on my chest, and then when she gets hungry, she'll crawl up to my face. She pushed herself with her legs. She'll be a month old on Sunday. Is that normal? Lol
I finally went real grocery shopping (like for more than one meal). I had J in a ring sling so I could actually use the cart. I was in the produce section and slipped face first in a puddle of water. I managed to get one hand out to stop myself and one hand on his head. I just barely didn't land in him. It was absolutely terrifying. There were two men who worked there that rushed over to make sure I was ok. One said something about the cement floors being so slippery with flip flops. It's summer - I'm not at fault for wearing flip flops, you should make sure your floors are dry. I'm still rather rattled.
